Ms.
Ambrose was at HSN Inc.'s Manhattan office this week to unveil the
shoes. She held up a pair of shoes she called "Onassis"—demure yet sexy
black pumps adorned with sheer lace detail on the uppers. "These are
very appropriate for the workplace," Ms. Ambrose proclaimed. "And
they're great for night. You can wear these right to the club after
work."
With her music- and screen-star client roster, Ms.
Ambrose is the latest stylist to try parlaying fashion-industry fame
into a consumer brand. Target recently collaborated with Kate Young,
stylist to clients including Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams, on a
limited-edition collection of special occasion dresses.
But
even stylists with TV shows, such as Rachel Zoe, who launched her own
fashion line in 2011, aren't nearly as well known as their celebrity
clients. Ms. Ambrose gained exposure after a stint on "The X Factor,"
and she had her own show, "Styled By June," on VH1 last year, but it
hasn't been renewed.
Robert Passikoff, president of Brand Keys
consulting firm, says a stylist is "down a level" compared with an
actress or a designer, in terms of public name recognition.
Some
of Ms. Ambrose's shoes are pumps with heels in the 4-inch range. "I was
very mindful of the real world," Ms. Ambrose says. "The average person
is not walking around in 6-inch heels."

Ms. Ambrose, married and a
mother of two, paid special attention to comfort. "As I was designing
the collection, I was thinking what drives me crazy about the shoes that
I spend thousands of dollars on," she says. She made sure to include
cushioning at the ball of the feet, and the "paddles" on sandals are
wide enough to accommodate feet swelling in summer, she says. Some
styles have rear zipper openings and adjustable straps for easier entry.
She had ankle straps cut low to help elongate a woman's legs.
The
target consumer is "a professional, but sassy," Ms. Ambrose says. "I
want to get to that girl starting her career for the first time who
wants to feel confident and make a statement without making a spectacle
of herself."

Instagram and Twitter, where her followers top 531,000. She says she
plans to promote her HSN shoe line on social media, starting with
teasers and "guerrilla style" video and photographs, gradually revealing
more as the March 22 launch approaches. There is a gorgeous collection
of fascinators and Hair bands that are perfect for weddings or the races. She said she hopes HSN will introduce her to a new audience.
HSN
has launched merchandise with other celebrity stylists, says Anne
Martin-Vachon, chief merchandising officer at the St. Petersburg, Fla.,
company, and their lines have sold well. Ms. Ambrose appeared on HSN
last fall as a "style expert.Dear Customer welcome women shoes factory world!"
"June
is a fashion authority and a great storyteller," Ms. Martin-Vachon
says. "Our intent is to grow with her every single fashion season."
Ms.
Ambrose says she recognizes that skeptics think stylists are deluded
into thinking they can move into the role of designer. She actually did
design clothes for some of her clients, Ms. Ambrose says. "I designed
suits for Jay-Z."
