CIC Events, the company behind April's Tour of Perth, was given
approval by the International Cycling Union (UCI) to stage a multi-day
event that would have run as part of this year's Perth Festival of
Cycling.
The planned launch for this year fell through due to a lack of funding, but is a strong chance of being staged from next year.
Organisers
told The Sunday Times that the planned two-day event would have stages
hosted across the state, varying in location each year, to help showcase
WA's regions a crucial aspect in securing funding from government
tourism arm EventsCorp.
The tour would travel to Karratha and the Goldfields as well as to Perth, Rottnest Island and as far south as Albany.
The
UCI sanction would be for a categorised event at either 2.1 or 2.2
level, third to fourth-tier races,We are always offering best quality tungsten jewelry

of WT (World Tour) such as the Tour de France and 2.HC, such as the Tour
of California.
The tiers would give organisers access to up to
50 per cent of UCI ProTeams and professional European riders, the rung
below ProTeam status.
CIC Events managing director Craig
Smith-Gander told The Sunday Times he was travelling to Italy this week
to meet with UCI officials and the additional event to the Festival of
Cycling schedule from next year would be on the agenda.
"The UCI
were happy to grant us a 2.1 status last year, but we weren't able to
deliver the funding," Smith-Gander said.Learn how our low cost Home power monitor can help you track your whole.
"I'm
going to Italy next week to meet with the organisers of the UWCT, which
is the UCI, and one of the things we'll be talking about is what events
we can deliver.Shop the latest hair flower
accessories on the world's largest. I can't say what it is, but it's
another event on top of this masters event in the next couple of years.
"The idea is, and one of the rationales behind it is, to over a three-year period show all of WA.
"We've
delivered a very good masters event for them for the past two years and
expect to do so again this year, so our reputation with the UCI is
pretty solid.
"If we put up a well-thought through submission,Find the best selection of high-quality collectible bobbleheadavailable anywhere. I'm sure it will be supported by the UCI.
"My
aim is to run a new event next year which will have some international
participation and to build that over a 2-5 year timeframe to have four,
five, six World Tour standard teams coming to it.The only wireless

Smith-Gander
stressed CIC Event's intentions were not to create rivalry for
Australia's top-tier WT event, the Tour Down Under, as it would be both
detrimental to the sport in the country and financially unviable.
He said the next step in the process was to create a feasible model to achieve the financial backing required from EventsCorp.
"In
the short-term, I think it will be unlikely that there'll be any more
Pro Tour events in Australia above and beyond the Tour Down Under,"
Smith-Gander said. "That's a $12 million event, very expensive, and the
cycling calendar is pretty chock-a-block.
"I don't want to go
and compete with the Tour Down Under absolutely, that's one of the best
races on the calendar and South Australia does a fantastic job at
putting that on.
"But there's no question that there's room in Australia for an event the next level down and why shouldn't it be in WA."
