Crime branch of Pune police Wednesday arrested
two persons in connection with the robbery at Ramesh jewellers at Pawar chawl in
Kasarwadi on December 10.
The suspects have been identified as Shravanbharati Gaswami (21) and Naresh Giri Goswami (20), both natives of Gujarat, currently residing at Virag building in Pimpri. A search has been launched for their three accomplices Narpatsingh Darbar, Feroz and Kalpesh.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Shahji Solunkhe and deputy commissioner (crime) Rajesh Bansode, said in a press conference that 1.5 kg gold worth around Rs 50 lakh the suspects had robbed from Ramesh jewellers has been recovered.

Investigations revealed the suspect Sharavanbharati was working at a jewellery shop in Kalewadi owned by Dalpat Goswami, who enjoyed good relations with Jain. Goswami and Jain used to meet for business purposes. So Shravanbharati knew about Jain’s jewellery shop and money lending business.
He and his accomplices planned the heist arranged for a knife, some chilli powder, adhesive tape and a handkerchief for carrying out their plan. They studied movements at Jain’s shop for a couple of days and robbed the shop.

During the course interrogation, the two told the police they camped with their families in residential colonies to identify locked houses. The women folk would first go around the area under the guise of selling brooms, toys and fancy goods. The men would follow it up with another round under the guise of selling mat.
