Singer Connie Fisher turns jewellery designer

It’s always been a hobby of mine but it was during the Sound of Music tour that I really got into it – mainly due to boredom really. All the nuns were knitting in their spare time but because I couldn’t knit I decided to make jewellery instead. I also made jewellery favours for the guests at my wedding, but I didn’t have any cards at the time so I’m not sure whether people actually knew I’d made them myself. It’s nice to know you’re wearing something different rather than what everyone else is wearing. I used to wear a lot of jewellery on stage but I began to notice other people in the same things. I started making my own pieces to go with specific outfits rather than spending ￡20 a time on something new. You can make what you like for who you like. Everyone is different and sometimes when you’re shopping for someone, you know what you’re looking for but can’t always find it. As long as you know what colours suit them it’s so easy to pick up some beads and create something for them. Personally I find it’s a great way to vent creativity.

And Graduation is based on a bracelet I wore to my graduation from musical theatre college. I would love to work with Carrie again, maybe on a wedding collection that’s still glamorous but not too expensive. Wedding jewellery can be so pricey but you generally only get to wear it once so it would be nice for brides to have something that could be utilised post-wedding and doesn’t cost the earth.
