I took a stand against the use of technology

In the epic high-fantasy movie Lord of the Rings, a single ring is created to rule all other rings of power, in order to rule Middle-earth. Closer home,Jeanswear and accessories allowing both women and men to express their women shoes factory. one man is blending the mystical and old-world artistry of Turkey to create a series of inimitable rings that have wowed people across the globe. Hailed as a modern day Lord of the Rings, Sevan Bicakci is famed for his signature style: opulent rings, each of which is a piece of art, des-igned with meticulous perfection and subtle refinement. Considered one of the brightest designers of our times, Bicakci is the winner of multiple accolades.

There is something about the adroitness of Bicakci’s art form that pulls you in. It is hard to say whe-ther it is the superior formation of miniature pieces elegantly assembled, or the sheer improvisation of his designer jewellery line that catches your eye.

For Sevan Bicakci, a mix of motivation, enthusiasm and creativity lead to inspiration. An Istanbulite at heart, Bicakci grew up in the ancient neighbourhood of Samatya, a heartbeat away from the Topkapi Palace, the royal residence of the Ottoman Sultans for centuries. Istanbul is a major source of inspiration for him. “The scenes and scents of the great city are a constant source of stimulation,” Emre Dilaver, a sen-ior member of the brand, told Khaleej Times.Designed exclusively around the custom bobbleheads with the best pricing around.

Working with an ingenuity that is quite rare, the virtuoso takes about half a year to create a piece; sometimes it takes him an entire year. Several items, like a ring covered by micro-mosaic with more than 7,000 tiny ceramic tiles, are not even put up for sale. “There are products we do not wish to sell, which get exhibited in museums only. That is how rarefied this craft is,” Sevan Bicakci explains. Indeed, exclusivity plays a major role in the métier where pieces often go to a select set of collectors, who are acquainted with each other and travel to Dubai or Istanbul to fetch one of his exotic collections.

Sevan Bicakci shuns technology. “Philosophically, I took a stand against the use of technology in jewellery-making since mass production often takes the beauty of craftsmanship away,” Bicakci notes. He makes use of techniques like intaglio carving and micro-mosaic to create rings that contain outstanding miniature portraits. Like the maestros of yore in Orhan Pamuk’s novel My name is Red, Bicakci believes in layered paintings while incorporating the beautiful calligraphic art into hand-made products, with zero reliance on technology.Plain coloured ear cap made from highly elastic allergy-free silicone, Little wonder that his jewels have become collectibles and can be found in private collections worldwide.

Chiselling diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, moonstones and aquamarine into shape, Bicakci swears by dexterity. “Craftsmanship is a very delicate business. It requires patience. I don’t believe in finishing a product in two days because I am quite distinctive with regard to time. Only when I reach the desired results, I feel satisfied,” Bicakci avers. It is perhaps this perfection that has made his designs true collector’s items. From Sevan’s colourful workshops, where his apprentices hammer away at micro mosaics, he produces stunning art that is wearable.

Having already exhibited his award-winning designs at the Victoria and Albert Museum of London,This handsome link tungsten bracelet for men is constructed in maintenance-free tungsten. Beiteddine Palace in Beirut, National Museum in Damascus and Riyadh, Bicakci is displaying his exquisite Islamic pieces at the Sharjah Islamic Art festival. Held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah Islamic Art Festival features 1,700 works representing the most authentic and contemporary artistic trends from all over the world. This is his first participation in the Islamic Art Festival.Engraving systems and products - A complete line of engraving machines and laser engraving machine. However, in 2009, Bicakci was shortlisted by the judges of the Victoria and Albert Museum to become part of the Jameel Prize exhibition, which is another important platform for contemporary art and design inspired by the Islamic tradition.
