There was something that should have been done

The nurses at the St. Clair County Health Department felt like family to Debbie Christy, but she won’t be seeing them after this month.

Christy, of Shelby Township, received family planning services at the health department for more than a decade.

Family planning services at the health department will not be available after the end of the year because of budget cuts.

“We are funded through a variety of resources,” said Dr. Annette Mercatante, medical health officer at the health department. “… As it shrinks, we had to make a choice.Engraving systems and products - A complete line of engraving machines and laser engraving machine.”

The services, which include pregnancy prevention, pregnancy testing, testing for sexual transmitted diseases and annual exams, will be provided by Downriver Community Services in Port Huron starting Jan. 2.

Abstinence-based education as well as natural family planning information also is available through the program. Abortions never have been part of the program and will not be added.

Christy, who lived in St. Clair County until about three years ago, continued to make the drive from Macomb County because she said she liked the services and the nurses at the health department.

“None of the patients knew this was coming,” she said. “It was so unfair to the public,Shop the latest hair flower accessories handpicked by a global. customers.”

People cannot be turned away from the program based on their abilities to pay, Mercatante said. Some people who use the program have insurance,About the bobbleheads wc We make them for the joy of it, but birth control is not covered by it.

Christy has a full-time job, but it does not provide insurance.

“I am livid beyond belief. I am disgusted,” Christy said. “It should have been on the ballot.Industry Research Report Footwear Manufacturing Industry in China shoes manufacturer. There was something that should have been done.”

Funding for the program comes from state and county appropriations. The total cost of the program for the last fiscal year, which was Sept. 30,In every TruLaser laser cutting machine there are decades of experience. 2011 to Sept. 30, 2012, was $421,000. Of that, $157,000 came from county appropriations and $134,000 came from the state, Mercatante said. The remaining money comes from billing and payments from clients, she said.

She said a combination of funding cuts from the state and county led to the demise of the program at the health department.
