The Pink Champagne collection is the fruit

The Dubai Shopping Festival, which ran from the first week of January to February 3rd, increased retail sales for many businesses in Dubai by as much as 30%, officials told Al-Shorfa.

Officials said the diversity of entertainment events during the Festival, as well as stores extending sales and offering daily and weekly prize draws, attracted waves of tourists from Gulf European and Asian countries.

The festival benefited this year from a boost in tourists from Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries, who visited Dubai because of its moderate winter climate, Adam said.

Also, festival events -- more diverse than in previous years, and involving regional and international performances, magic shows, singing and dancing -- "attracted families to the malls, which, in turn, boosted sales at stores and restaurants", he said.

Ibrahim al-Bahr, the deputy general manager of the Union Co-operative Society in Dubai, also said the festival helped increase sales during January by around 20% in comparison with December.

He said the festival often has a very positive impact on Dubai's commercial, retail and services sectors, "as waves of tourists are keen to visit the country during the festival, taking advantage of offers made by tourism agencies".

Most tourists and shoppers were Saudi, Qatari and Russian, and some came from European countries, al-Bahr said.

Brown & Newirth unveiled its range of Pink Champagne rose gold wedding, engagement and eternity rings at The Jewellery Show in Birmingham this week.
