an eye for, with Santa Claus lawn statues, piggy banks, rosary beads, false
fingernails, a blood pressure tester and an asthma puffer also stolen in
break-ins across the city's west over the past year.

"The hippo teeth are very sentimental to me. I was born in Africa, my father collected them and had them mounted," he said.
"They mean a lot to me and I'd really like to get them back."
The items are around 90 years old.
"I came home and saw two carpets had been turned up and I thought there'd been a heavy wind come through. Then I went to the bedroom and saw draws and cupboard doors open and I thought 'uh oh'," he said.

"Funny thing is, if they had of come to my door looking for food, I would have given them food," she said.
Brisbane West District crime prevention co-ordinator Sergeant Jose Sarmiento said thieves had a better chance of finding a purse, wallet or car keys if people were home.
