The peak marriage season is immediately
With Diwali festival and marriage season around the corner, leading jewellers and bankers in India are hoping that gold sales will grow.
Jewellery groups and bankers said that gold price volatility is unlikely to affect demand for jewellery and are confident of a huge sale during this year's Dhanteras -- a day considered auspicious for gold-buying in Hindu calendar.
"We expect sales to grow by 35 to 40 percent this Dhanteras. The peak marriage season is immediately after Diwali," Gitanjali group chairman MD Mehul Choksi told Press Trust of India (PTI).
However, Mehul said that in terms of volume, growth is expected to be only 10 per cent as customers would opt for light weight jewellery and rising demand for gold coins has grown 35 to 40 per cent year-on-year.
Rahul Singh, Shree Ganesh Jewellery House head in charge of marketing, echoed the same growth estimate.
"With rising prices,wholesale fashion jewelry and cheap wholesale jewelry online supplier. light weight jewellery is in demand.This tungsten bracelet for men is constructed in maintenance-free tungsten. People are buying gold jewellery for the upcoming festive and wedding seasons, anticipating future rise in price. Gold price on the weekend stood at Rs 30,480 per 10 grammes on MCX and was at US$1,677 an ounce (28.34 grams) globally.
"This festive season demand will pick up because usually, as prices go up demand rises. Discounts by jewellers would fuel demand," said World Gold Council director (Investment) Amresh Achrya.
Kotak Mahindra Bank executive vice president Puneet Kapoor said during the last Diwali the bank sold 125 kgs of gold coins.
"This year we are expecting at least 20 percent growth. As an investment, the yellow metal continues to command long term value, it is a tag for being a safe haven, a hedge against inflation and asset allocation," he said.
Angel Broking's head (commodities) Naveen Mathur said that gold prices are likely to be between Rs 35,500 to 31,000 during the festive season.
"Demand for jewellery will be there as people realise that gold will not go back to the previous year's level," he said (US$1 = 54.14 Indian Rupee).
With all the new social media networks or tools inviting brands to promote themselves, each promising spectacular results with little effort, it is getting harder and harder to choose the right communication channels with the best ROI for brands. Knowing which types of products perform better on which networks could help marketers, and those interested in joining or already present on image sharing network Pinterest should know that jewellery/luxury goods/accessories (22.8%), flowers/gifts/greetings (21.2%) and fragrances/cosmetics (20.1%) are top retail domains in terms of success on this channel.
Food (19.7%), another retail branch, and ecards (19.0%) complete the top five of categories with highest concentration of visitors on Pinterest according to a June 2012 comScore study.
Gay/lesbian (18.8%), books, perhaps a surprising domain (18.7%), travel – transactions (18.6%), lifestyle – green (18.3%) and retail – coupons (18.0%) are the other five important categories.
Also present in the top 20 site categories are apparel, consumer goods, healthcare, home furnishing, toys, incentives, mall, religion/spirituality, hotels/resorts and shipping.
Retail definitely dominates the top with almost any important area covered. The top shows a potential for incentives – companies could try to find the best ways to use this trend. Travel seems to also benefit from an important focus among Pinterest users,stainless steel bangle etched with Signature Cs complements a simple, as transactions are an item that made it to top ten, and hotels/resorts ranked 19 in this top.
As the network is mostly used by women, though it has male members as well, these areas of interest reflect women’s preoccupations – it is enough to take a look at the items on the top three places. The trend of the moment with going green is also present in this top and books also made it among the top 10 items of interest.
