which includes Haban Gamble and John Bosser

More than a year after coming up with an idea for an all-access, multi-purpose field, a committee started by local Lions Club members has a plan for the design and cost of the project.Shop the wholesale stainless steel bangle on the world's largest fashion.

Sue Haban, from the Bloom-Carroll Lions Club, and Ed Gamble, of the Roseville Lions Club, came up with the idea for a rubber field to be utilized by people with disabilities a few years ago. The committee, which includes Haban, Gamble and John Bosser, from the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, recently was granted permission by the county prosecutor’s office to begin raising money for the project.

“Ed Gamble and I started talking about three or four years ago about an idea like this,” Haban said. “We thought if we’re going to do this, we better get started.”

Bosser said about $900,000 would be necessary to build the field, but added the estimate was on the high end. No public funds will be used, Bosser said. In-kind donations, meaning labor or goods given to the project instead of money, could lower the estimate.

“We developed the budget based on the going rate of everything,” Bosser said. “We’re hoping to be able to reduce that by half.we not only have a large collection of stainless steel bracelet supplier products,You Can Buy Various Improved PE protective film Products Products.”

Gamble, who is working as project manager, has been getting estimates on how much each function will cost, whether it’s the rubber blocks, fencing, grandstands or lights.

“I try to get two or three quotes for each function,” Gamble said. “In some cases, I’ve only been able to get two. I didn’t want to go with just one.”

After viewing similar fields used for baseball and softball in Zanesville and Dublin, the committee came up with the idea for a 1.33-acre complex with concessions, restrooms and a parking lot. The field will be rubber but painted to look like a baseball diamond. The complex would have lights and the surface would drain on a slope, making the field playable during rain. The field also would have covered bleachers that includes wheelchair seating. The fences would be 150 feet from home plate,Find great deals on eBay for stainless steel bangle Bracelet in Fashion Jewelry Bracelets. meaning adults could play too.with Wholesale Cheap Custom Keychain and promotional key tags.

The plan also calls for a reduced-size soccer field that would be in the outfield. The soccer field was not in the initial plan but was added after some discussion.

“As we got further along into the design, we thought if we’re going to do it, we should do it right,” Bosser said. “We wanted to come up with the cost to do everything right the first time.”

The field could play host to games and league of varying levels of competitiveness and inclusiveness. Some might be unified leagues, in which people with and without disabilities play together. Others might have the ball being hit off a tee. The planning committee has worked with the Fairfield County Youth Baseball Association and Lancaster Youth Baseball Association during the process. The LYBA operates a Challenger League for people with disabilities in Lancaster, and that’s another option for the all-access field.

The soccer field could play host to leagues for people with disabilities, which Bosser said do not currently exist.

“We want to give options for families,” Bosser said. “We could have (people) of medium-type ability (who) want to play a more competitive game even up to coach pitch or kid pitch.”

The group will have donation information on display at The Lancaster Festival Fair Day, Haban said. The committee also applied for a grant from the Fairfield County Foundation. The fundraising process is in the early stages, but the group hopes to draw community support.

Cherry Tree kept up their pursuit of SMS Youth League leaders Baxenden with yet another impressive display as they beat Edenfield with ease thanks to a powerful batting display.

Edenfield won the toss at Preston Old Road and put the home side in – but they were soon regretting that decision as Jack Woolridge and Jake Willacy started as they meant to go on.Buy Silicone IPAD Case at wholesale prices from leading Chinese wholesalers,

Willacy reached 30 before retiring not out out and by the time the first wicket fell, Cherry had reached 75.

Woolridge was the man to go for 29 as he was caught by Hassan Shah off the bowling of David Evans.

Sam Farnworth carried on the good work and he hit six fours on his way to a classy 31 before he retired and then skipper Ryan Hurley also made 31 before retiring not out and Cherry had posted a formidable 133-1 from their 18 overs.

Edenfield lost Jack Fallin, Sam Chicken, Jamie Hauserman and Matthew Roles cheaply and while Adam Mohammed made 16, no-one could offer skipper Alfie Taylor support.

Taylor made 32 before retiring not out and his men could only post 91-6 from their 18 overs with Woolridge claiming 2-21 from his four overs while the in-form Kelan Florentine more than justified his return to the Cherry Tree first team with an outstanding spell as he claimed figures of 1-4 from his four overs.

Great Harwood claimed a tense win over Feniscowles as they chased down the home side’s 84-7 with just two balls to spare.

Edward Rushworth made 32 for Feni but Great Harwood edged past that target with three wickets to spare.

Clitheroe won their Ribble Valley derby with Whalley after posting 136-7 at Station Road before restricting the home side to 98-6, while Ribblesdale Wanderers beat Read.

which will draw the viewer

“Painted, Stitched Textile Art” by Catherine Worthington is on view through Saturday, June 29, at Maine Fiberarts, 13 Main St. in Topsham. Arlene Morris and Paul Hollingsworth installed the work so that the paintings appear to be “floating on air.”

Maine Fiberarts will host a workshop, “Create and Explore: Textile Painting and Surface Design,Shop huge inventory of Car Phone holder Charger,” with the artist 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Maine Fiberarts.

Catherine Worthington is a textile artist living with her husband and three boys in Brunswick. She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in textile design from the University of Massachusetts, North Dartmouth. She spends time working in her home studio designing and creating textiles. Her art quilts are part of many private collections and have been exhibited throughout Maine, New England and Florida. She also takes part in the Brunswick Art Walk, where she will have a pop-up booth throughout the summer at 98 Maine St.

Worthington continues to work part-time as an artist mentor at Spindleworks in Brunswick, has served on the board of Arts Are Elementary, served on the planning committee of Brunswick’s “10 X10” show and collaborated as an artist-in-residence in Brunswick elementary schools.

Worthington uses textile painting and surface design techniques to create colorful art quilts with themes of landscapes, florals, street scenes and seascapes. Her work is considered cheerful and uplifting.

Of her work, the artist writes, “My work presents images of the natural environment from the gardens to the sea. Color, texture, pattern and design are constant sources of inspiration to me. I love to be in the moment, creating. My textile works are constructed by layering surfaces and techniques. This vertical Cable Organizer can be mounted to either. Painting, printing and hand stitching accentuate detail and increase texture and depth. I like to create a rich surface which will draw the viewer in and hold their attention as they look further into the work creating a feeling or familiar place to escape.” The artist often finishes pieces with French knots, beads, hand or machine stitching, and other embroidery techniques.

Also, Maine Fiberarts received funding from the USDA and the Quimby Family Foundation to create a series of Craft-Farm Institute workshops during 2013.

This summer, the group also will host workshops on Freeform Quilting, Using WordPress to Create Simple Websites, Selling Fiber Work through Fairs and Festivals, and Spinning Singles and Knitting Half-Moon Shawls.

Since 2000, Maine Fiberarts has shown the work of artists in solo shows that change every two or three months. During July and August, artist Sallie Findlay of Deer Isle will show figurative sculpture along with quilts by Deborah Spaulding and Karen Munson in the show, “Hidden Histories.” In the fall, artist Jill Snyder Wallace of Minot will show mixed-media embroideries that incorporate found objects in the exhibition “Human Nature.”

Consider the Postal Service’s album Give Up as a game of telephone. Since its debut, the original statement made by Give Up had been getting diluted with the passing years. The synthpop album inspired imitators like Owl City, Hellogoodbye and others, some of which may have been more commercial but none as equally adored by the indie crowd though they were close in sound (I frequently thought Owl City’s “Fireflies” was by The Postal Service).

For a band that had gone on only one tour and had not made any overtures of producing a follow-up album, it could have resulted in the Postal Service becoming a relic of a bygone era like say… well I’ll let you figure that analogy out. But,Soft Winbo Key Cover decorates your key in fashionable ways. the band was never forgotten, they continued to be adored and their small indie album grew into a commercial success,You Can Buy Various Improved PE protective film Products Products. selling over one million copies. And to negate any dissolution of the message, Give Up was recently reissued in an expanded ten year anniversary set. In support of that re-release, Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel) and Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) committed to a new Postal Service arena-size tour with Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley) and Laura Burhenn (the Mynabirds) tagging along to flesh out the band.

The first night of the two New York shows at the Barclays Center, with openers Mates of State, was sold out. Gibbard recognized the irony that adhered to the band becoming large-arena caliber when he shared this tip for other artists,Solutions is batch tested to insure the EMI material Products. “Let this be a lesson to all you musicians out there. You make a record. You don’t do anything for ten years. You end up playing at Barclays. It’s really simple.” The four piece band performed on what appeared to be an abbreviated Barclays stage, by design, adorned with eight-bit light bars and beads. Tamborello remaining set back behind his mixing board and computers for the most part and Burhenn was more often on the edges, while Gibbard and Lewis led the show over the 70-plus-minute performance.

The set began slowly with “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight”—as Tamborello built up the layers of atmosphere and Gibbard’s lyrical voice grew more confident, the guitar enters to propel things forward. Though a lot of people remained glued in their seats, if they had one, the best known anthems got them up on their feet and the second song “We Will Become Silhouettes” was one of those.

The latter half of the main set felt more rock oriented than the first, though the entire set favored dancing rather than headbanging as the Give Up material relies on synths. The Postal Service included a cover of Beat Happening’s “Our Secret”, but for the most part performed their material relatively straightforwardly.

Immediately recognizable sonic squelches, filling the arena as an ambulance siren would, kicked off “Clark Gable”, to much applause. Though it was the most “commercial” hit, “Such Great Heights”, having been featured in prime time TV shows, that received the biggest applause. As the percussive hits receded, the air opened up for Tamborello to build the sonicscape of “Natural Anthem” and Gibbard thanked the audience and the openers.

It was too soon to end the evening though and the band came back to perform the Dntel track “This Is the Dream of Evan and Chan”, the song that essentially birthed the band as it was the first collaboration between the two. With the crowd still up on their feet from applauding, dancing continued, though the evening was over for real not long after. The only way the Postal Service can interpret that message is that their fans are yearning for something new. Click on their website www.sdktapegroup.com/Double-sided-tape_c546 for more information.

who was his former employee

An amazing real-life story of love, features many fashionable styles of silver rings wholesale stainless steel ring, sex and dhoka unfurled on Sunday in which a jeweller, Gajanan Kinkhede, has been charged with rape and murder of 24-year-old Samta Soni with whom he was maintaining an illicit relationship for three years and who was his former employee too. Harangued by the victim's relatives, the Ramtek police have also slapped the same charges on the accused's cousin Manoj Kinkhede and the Soni's husband Anand.

Gajanan is alleged to have committed the crime in his car while returning from Ramtek with Samta. Only he has been arrested so far. Though booked, Manoj and Anand, who had come to 'help' Gajanan, are not behind bars yet.

Sandeep Salunkhe, subdivisional police officer (SDPO) of Ramtek said it seems a clear case of homicide. But he is waiting for the forensic and chemical analysis report to confirm the rape. "As of now, we have registered rape based on a complaint by the brother of the deceased," he said.

Gajanan would have successfully managed to dispose of Samta's body had he not brought it to the same hospital in Sitabuldi where she is employed. Alert colleagues called up her relatives and also asked Gajanan to take the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital as they suspected something fishy on seeing marks on her throat and blood on her dress.

This led to another big argument as Gajanan told police that he strangled her in the back seat. Gajanan then brought her to the Sitabuldi nursing home saying that Samta had been injured in a hit-and-run mishap.

which devoted the first five pages of its Sport

Howman insisted that the links between organised crime and doping identified in a hard-hitting report from the Australian Crime Commission published earlier this month were not unique to that country, adding that sports in the UK could not afford to be complacent.

“If you think the mafia and underworld aren't involved in this country in sport, you're in fairyland,Find the trendiest wholesale women shoes including stylish wholesale sandals." insisted Howman, who believes it is “inevitable” that other sports such as athletics will follow cycling in having widespread levels of doping exposed.

Nor is it just doping that is causing concern; earlier this month, Europol revealed that it had identified more than 380 football matches across the continent in which it believed results had been rigged on behalf of Far Eastern and Russian criminals with the collusion of players and match officials.

Howman says a "sports integrity unit," including WADA and working alongisde national and international law enforcement agencies, should be set up to deal with the threat.

His comments were reported yesterday in The Guardian, which devoted the first five pages of its Sport section to the issue of doping and other forms of corruption in sport, painting a bleak picture of the ability of governing bodies and WADA to combat the problem.

While it is often cycling that hits the headlines when it comes to doping – there have, of course, been very public scandals in recent years particularly in the United States related to athletics and baseball, among other sports – recent weeks have seen the media widen its focus.

Partly that is in response to the ongoing Operacion Puerto trial in Madrid, with Eufemiano Fuentes, the doctor at the centre of the investigation, maintaining that cyclists represented only three in ten of his clients, who included footballers, tennis players and track and field athletes, among others.

However, it also reflects a growing acknowledgement in the wake of the Lance Armstrong scandal that for all cycling’s problems, including the stand-off between the UCI and WADA, most other sports lag behind when it comes to the nature and scale of anti-doping tests currently performed on their athletes.

Howman maintained that some governing bodies were doing far less than they could to catch the drugs cheats, including failing to test for substances such as EPO, for which there were just 1,505 tests in all sports in 2011, 48 of those turning out to be positive.

He also said that sporting bodies were failing to capitalise on investment made in developing new tests, underscoring the point with the observation that despite a test being formulated for human growth hormone (HGH), which was previously undetectable, only one in four of 120,cheap rubber Hair bands from China may have been made from used condoms.000 blood samples obtained from athletes were actually tested for it – and most of those in minor league baseball.

"The information shows that there are a good number of athletes out there who are using drugs," maintained the three-time world champion in the 3,000 metre steeplechase. "All over the world there is corruption in sport. It is not only a matter in Kenya."

The money that has poured into a range of sports in recent years makes them attractive to criminals involved in both supplying banned drugs and match-fixing, he added.

Andy Parkinson, chief executive of UK Anti-Doping, agreed that many countries and sports underestimate the scale of the problem facing them.

"The real challenge is that even if there are isolated sports or nations that are starting to understand the scale of the problem, the vast majority of sports and nations haven't," he reflected.

He believes that WADA should be given greater powers to help it fight cases where it suspects wrongdoing. "If it sees a problem part of the world or a problem sport, it should have the ability to go in and make an assessment and give it a clean bill of health or otherwise.

“Perhaps there is too much conservatism, too much concern for brand and reputation, and not enough zeal for the task,Australian business bringing a new class of affordable and quality Laser engraver and laser cutting machines." he said.

"There is a long-held belief that sport embodies the values of fair play and honesty that we want our children exposed to," he went on.

"Perhaps we need to reassess that belief; maybe we should consider whether sport may, in fact, be a corrupting influence, especially the closer an athlete gets to elite level."

Fahey, who is now in his final year as WADA president, was making his comments at a time when the agency is coming under scrutiny as a result of its continuing row with the UCI, with neither party seemingly able to meet the other halfway and move forward with establishing a truth and reconcilation process within cycling.

The UCI,FeaturesWith our Home energy monitor you can see in REAL. which initially wanted such a process to cover other sports, said it would be willing to work with WADA to set it up,Find the best selection of high-quality collectible bobbleheadavailable anywhere. but the agency insists it must be dealt with by the independent commission set up by the UCI late last year to investigate its own role in the Lance Armstrong affair, but which the governing body disbanded earlier this month.

which is home to the Royal Ballet

Since the start of the year Sergei Filin’s mobile phone had been blocked, his email hacked, a false page created in his name on Facebook and two tyres were slashed on his car.

Then, on January 17, a masked attacker threw a jar of sulphuric acid in his face when he was returning home after a party, leaving him with third degree burns. His looks are certain to have been ravaged and doctors are fighting to save his eyesight.

The lead dancer with the company, who is one of the judges on the Russian equivalent of Strictly Come Dancing (making him Moscow’s Darcey Bussell) as well as being Filin’s principal rival for the top job, has already been questioned by police. But he is by no means the main suspect.FeaturesWith our Home energy monitor you can see in REAL.

With the whole theatre considered a crime scene, some 200 dancers’ alibis are being checked.

And now Svetlana Lunkina, who was once Filin’s professional partner, has announced she is fleeing to Canada after receiving threats against her.

Our own Royal Opera House, which is home to the Royal Ballet, went through a turbulent patch in the Nineties when words like “toxic”, “poisonous” and “backstabbing” were regularly used to describe the atmosphere behind the scenes.

At no stage during that difficult period – which is happily a thing of the past – did anyone mean those terms literally. Various people may not have liked each other, but no one was actually poisoned or attacked with a sharp weapon.

In Russia, they don’t stab in the back when they can do it in the front instead, and they do it literally rather than metaphorically.

The Bolshoi Ballet, which was the ultimate cultural symbol of the Soviet Union in communist times and has remained so in the new Russia, has long had a reputation for bickering, intrigue and the public trading of insults.

A SERIES of artistic directors have come and gone since 1995, one of them sacked so abruptly that he only heard about it on the radio.

In 2003 the ballerina Anastasia Volockhova was sacked for being too fat (she weighed a gargantuan seven and a half stones) and claims that when she took the company to court for unfair dismissal, she was threatened with knives.

And now, amid reports of dead cats being thrown on stage and broken glass hidden in the toes of pointe shoes, the level of violence is making the Oscar-winning psychodrama Black Swan – seen as far-fetched even by its fans – look like documentary.

They planted the seeds and harvested impressive watermelons

The desert is not a good place to grow food. It’s too hot. There’s not enough water. The sandy soil supports mostly cacti and creosote.

But while the desert environment poses real challenges, Southern Nevada can actually be a great place to cultivate food-producing plants. With the exception of tropical species that require high humidity, a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs are being grown here for private and commercial use, giving some Las Vegans extra options for more healthful eating.

On a recent Sunday afternoon, chef and gardening instructor Doug Taylor is giving a tour of the front yard of his home in a centrally located Las Vegas neighborhood. The tour was coordinated by Great Basin Permaculture (GBP), a local nonprofit that promotes balance and self-sustenance through sustainable gardening and design standards. As the 10 or so visitors follow him through his urban orchard, Taylor picks and hands outs figs from one of his 50 fruit trees. Accompanying the figs are peach, persimmon, orange, apricot and pomegranate trees, among others. His yard is not noticeably large, yet it doesn’t feel crowded, even with guests. This year will be Taylor’s seventh as cultivator of a food-producing home garden. Of the above-mentioned obstacles to successful gardening in this desert, poor soil conditions present the most immediate challenge. Taylor admits it took about two years of developing his soil with mulch and compost for his urban orchard to be consistently viable.

There are perhaps relatively few front yard “food forest” cultivators as ambitious as Taylor, but as the activities of nonprofits like Vegas Roots Community Garden, GBP and Create A Change Now (which starts food gardens in area elementary schools) are increasing their reach, the grow local movement is literally setting down roots across Southern Nevada.

Jessica Penrod, co-founder of GBP, says,Laser engravers and laser engraving machine and supplies to start your own lasering. “People are more interested in growing their own food in Las Vegas than I’ve seen in the 17 years I’ve been here.Shop for bobblehead head dolls from the official NBC Universal Store and build.” She explains that while it’s not unreasonable to want a food forest in your front yard, it’s going to take patience.

It’s also going to take thoughtful use of the valley’s limited water resources. “Planting drought-tolerant varieties of food-producing plants, latest fashion looks with people wearing Burlington Coat women shoes factory. providing direct irrigation and maintaining a healthy layer of mulch helps to minimize this challenge,” she says.

Selecting seed that will work in Las Vegas can be as easy as sourcing them from almost any area around the globe near 30 degrees north or south latitude. These areas have comparable climates and growing conditions. From Cairo to Cape Town to Chongqing, if it grows there, it will likely grow here.

There’s also seed found here once cultivated by natives. Taylor tells the story of how his colleagues at Quail Hollow Farm found red seeds on a hike in a random cave nearby. They planted the seeds and harvested impressive watermelons unlike anything he was able to identify in seed catalogues.

Now in his 30s, Taylor grew up in Hawaii and says local food was the standard way of life there. “It wasn’t trendy or something you bragged about. It was just practical. You get hungry and you go outside to pick a banana,” he says. He finds it strange that our parks and streets are planted with thousands of trees, none of which produce anything you can eat.

“Sure, fruit trees everywhere would be messy,” he says, “but it’s food, will show you how to make a flower hair bow out of your own hair flower. and after people got used to it, it wouldn’t be a problem.”

Taylor is executive pastry chef for the Batali and Bastianich Hospitality Group, which operates a handful of chic Italian restaurants on the Strip. It was here he was introduced to the importance of local sourcing in the tradition of the Italian table.

Trying to maintain the restaurant group’s standards of sourcing foods locally was a daunting task. As Taylor explains, “When we opened up the restaurants we said, let’s see how much of an Italian table we can create in Vegas. We had no idea if there were any farmers, and we found more than we thought, growing produce we weren’t prepared to deal with.”

According to Taylor, there are about 40 restaurants on the Strip sourcing their ingredients from local farms,Unique tungsten jewelry can be found at Forever Metals with ceramic inlay, and every year these growers do their best to keep up with demand. He adds that the Strip’s consumption of produce is so massive they could never begin to fulfill its needs.

“I tell the farmers to not try to grow everything, but to do just a few things well, like an heirloom baby carrot. It’s purple on the outside and has red rings on the inside. It’s only in season for like three weeks, but that is something a restaurant can get behind, put on the menu for a couple of weeks, brag about their use of local farming and have something that excites the chef.”

So far it’s proven an effective strategy, beneficial to restaurateurs and local growers.

Taylor also works with the University of Nevada’s Cooperative Extension program. His duties include teaching classes on gardening, as well as connecting restaurants to farms within about a 150-mile radius.

“We have a massive market that spends about $1.2 billion a year on produce. My goal is to capture 1 percent of that for our economy and our local farmers. We started in 2007 with one farm that grew herbs, and now we have over 60.” Taylor says the annual yield of his home orchard would bring in $60,000 to $70,000 if he chose to sell it. Fortunately for his friends and neighbors, he gives away all that his family can’t eat.

Miles away, situated at the top of a hill in Henderson, is Bloomin’ Desert Herb Farm, at the home of Randy and Rosalind Gibson. The Oklahoma transplants’ front and back yards are densely and beautifully planted with edible flowers, medicinal herbs, peppers and plants cultivated for their use as spices. A tour of the garden is visually stunning. Mints, sages, citronella, lemon verbena; the olfactory experience is nearly overwhelming, too.

The lack of modern facilities of cutting and polishing

To start its business here, the group will set up a franchise in Karachi, industry players say. It is encouraged by the opportunities that are expected to be created in the wake of ongoing efforts to normalise trade between India and Pakistan.

Gitanjali, along with other top Indian companies,Take a look at our site for more wholesale women shoes. expressed their interest in investing in Pakistan when a delegation of Pakistan’s gems and jewellery industry visited India recently.

Talking to The Express Tribune, All Pakistan Gems Merchants and Jewellers Association Chairman Saeed Mazhar Ali said many companies expressed interest in establishing their business and franchise in Pakistan and talks with Gitanjali had entered final stages. The jewellers were waiting for the grant of most favoured nation (MFN) status to India by Pakistan, which allows Indian investment in Pakistan, he said.

With increased collaboration, he said, India would transfer technology and expertise in gems and jewellery business, which would help Pakistan set up its industry on modern lines, focus on branding and marketing and hire skilled manpower.

Ali expressed the hope that the two countries could benefit from each other’s resources, experience and expertise. Many jewellery-making skills were vanishing in Pakistan and only a few artisans were left, who could make jewellery designs in Polki, Kundan,Hammered necklace stainless steel necklace smokey quartz necklace. Kolkata, make astonishing savings on Ladies stainless steel bracelet watches at the Watch Hut, Jaipur and Rajisthan styles, he said.

To enhance its skills, Pakistan’s jewellery industry is planning to hire master trainers from India. Skilled workers of Pakistan will also be sent to India for training in a bid to shield the art from going into oblivion.

Though India is targeting Pakistan’s market, the local jewellery manufacturers have their own ambitions too. This handsome link tungsten bracelet for men is constructed in maintenance-free tungsten. They are hoping to capture a large pie of the huge Indian market as both the sides have many common jewellery designs. Jewellery exports to India can reach $3 to $4 billion in a few years.

At present, Pakistan exports its jewellery to India through Dubai. South Asians in the US, Europe and the Middle East also purchase Pakistani jewellery.

With the help of India, vast mine reserves of gemstone in Pakistan can be used for value addition as Indian businesses have expertise in cutting and polishing precious stones.

Pakistan uses outdated technology in mining of gemstone and the crude techniques damage many high-value stones. The lack of modern facilities of cutting and polishing also deprive the country of potentially lucrative value addition. How to Embellish with Easy ribbon flowers Embroidery,

All the eyes are on ongoing talks and expected roadmap to promote trade between the two countries.

Mazhar Ali said as soon as Pakistan gave MFN status to India, Pakistan’s gems and jewellery products could capture a five-time bigger market. However, he pointed out that easy visa procedures and banking and communication facilities were critical.

He said Indian investors wanted work or long-stay visas instead of visit visas. Similarly, Pakistani artisans seek long-period visas to go to India for modern training.

Traders have also called for special tariff lines for the gems and jewellery industry, which include least or zero duty on finished products, raw material and machinery.

The retail market for college licensed merchandise

Kalli Sherer wore an Oregon State University sweatshirt, T-shirt and scarf, along with orange beads, but that didn't stop the 17-year-old from shopping for new gear at the OSU Beaver Store before Saturday's Civil War game.

The Tillamook High School senior, who plans on attending OSU, even knew she was getting Beaver clothing for Christmas — just like every year.

"You can never have enough," said Sherer, as she browsed through the racks with her sisters.

Chad Clausen, 26, of Modesto, Calif., was shopping nearby, and the Beaver alumnus said he owned a dozen items of OSU clothing. "That's probably about average," he said.

Every football game day, Reser Stadium turns into a sea of black and orange and Benny Beaver logos, though there was green and yellow speckled in on Saturday as Oregon came to town and left with a 48-24 win.

And every OSU item sold means dollars for businesses and the university.

Last year, Beaver gear accounted for $25 million of retail sales, and that brought in $1.24 million in licensing revenue to the school,Original handmade personalized bobbleheads dolls made to look like the photo you provide to us.Purchase an iPhone headset to enjoy your iPhone any way you like. said Steve Clark, vice president of university relations and marketing.

That's nearly $1 million more in royalties compared to 10 years prior, according to university data.

"There is more fan attire than in years past. Certainly, the success of our athletic programs contribute to the success of the merchandise," Clark said.

Licensing proceeds are reinvested in the athletic department and university communications, Clark said. Television commercials aired on the Pac-12 Network, for example, were produced with those funds.

Data on merchandise sales and licensing royalties weren't available from the University of Oregon this week, but a university official confirmed that there has been an increase. Our premium collection of quality custom keychain generously offers affordability in a custom key chains.

"It's gotten pretty busy in the last 10 years," said Nita Nickell, assistant director of marketing and brand management.

Clark said the hike in royalties is a nationwide trend and comes partly because OSU and other schools have been increasing their licensing efforts.

In 2005, OSU began a relationship with Collegiate Licensing Company, and merchandising royalties surged afterward, said Carson Dunlap, university trademark licensing manager.

Collegiate Licensing Company handles licensing agreements for nearly 200 universities, bowls and other properties. That includes all Pac-12 schools except the University of Oregon and the University of Southern California, which deal with licensing in-house.

The retail market for college licensed merchandise in 2011 was estimated at $4.6 billion, according to CLC. That's up from $4.3 billion in 2010.

Collegiate gear is second only to Major League Baseball in total sales of licensed sports items, according to CLC.

Dunlap said the agency has relationships with large apparel companies, other vendors and department stores and serves as an advocate for the university.

Oregon State received a sharp increase in royalties in 2007-2008 thanks in part to back-to-back baseball national championships and the release of the new "OS" logo, Dunlap said.

In 2011, there also was a sizeable jump, Dunlap added, as the number of stores carrying Oregon State gear expanded at Walmart, Old Navy and Target locations.

The University of Oregon has a similar 10 percent arrangement, except on Donald Duck mascot items, where a 12 percent rate is split with Disney, Nickell said.

Guns, knives and weapons-related products won't get approved at either university, nor will alcoholic beverages. Logos have been allowed on pint glasses or wine glasses, however.

On home game days, both universities patrol to spot counterfeit gear. The University of Oregon planned to scout around Corvallis for unlicensed Duck items on Saturday as well, Nickell said.

"T-shirts are the most common item that's counterfeited," she said.

And with the Duck program's success, there's been more unapproved gear, including those being sold online, which is more difficult to monitor, Nickell added.

Nickell and Dunlap said that many people don't know they're doing anything illegal by creating an unlicensed product.

"It's an educational opportunity," Dunlap said.

If unlicensed gear is seized or surrendered, it gets donated to charity, or destroyed if it's in bad taste.

In the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake, for example,Can you spot the answer in the fridge magnet? Oregon State sent Beaver knockoff products to the island nation.

The bigger the game, the more counterfeit activity there is, Dunlap said. But that also translates into legitimate opportunities.

Jay and Stephanie Norris of Seattle bought commemorative Civil War T-shirts from an OSU clothing trailer just outside Reser Stadium. The married couple said it's important that everyone knows what team they were rooting for.

"Especially here in Corvallis,A complete line of engraving machines and laser engraving machine systems." said Jay Norris, wearing green and yellow like his wife.

where he would play his college football

Before Chasen Andersen made his decision about where he would play his college football, he got some advice from his father.

The advice was not to just to go to school because of a coach, because coaches can come and go.Redsail Laser Engraving Machine is low cost and high performance Laser engraver Machines Systems, Coming from his dad, Utah State coach Gary Andersen, it was definite food for thought.

But in the end, the senior linebacker from Logan High felt no matter what the future might hold, he wanted to play for the Aggies. He likes the atmosphere at the program in Logan, one that seems to be gaining more and more momentum.

"I know the feel up here and the vibe, and I know it's the right place for me," Chasen Andersen said. "They've come a long way in four years, and watching them grow has really helped my decision. They have some great recruits, and they think I can come in and make the program better."

Andersen acknowledged he has wanted to play for his father, but there are more family ties than just Gary. Keegan Andersen is already a tight end in the program, and though Hagen Andersen,Is this my last chance for a bobblehead giveaway this season? his brother who is also a senior, is also considering Southern Utah and Montana State, he thinks eventually the three will end up with the Aggies together.

Chasen Andersen also had an offer from BYU that complicated his decision.

He said he's doing well in the recovery process,Online shopping stainless steel jewelry supplies steel titanium jewelry. and has about two more months before he's cleared to play. That should time nicely with his early enrollment at Utah State: He'll start classes on Jan. 7 next year.

"I had felt really good during the offseason, and for my career to end like that on something tragic, it was hard," he said.Shop shoes for ladiesfootwear styles for any need from Merrell. "But everything happens for a reason. It's been tough, but sometimes those things will happen to you and then good things will happen after that."

As a junior, Andersen established himself as one of the state's top inside linebackers, leading Class 4A in tackles on the way to Logan's state title. He said the coaching staff envisions him playing the same role with the Aggies, perhaps eventually taking over Jake Doughty's spot in the defense.

Andersen said that his commitment was generally unrelated to his father's commitment to the school. He is excited to play under his dad — he called it a "dream" — but said he felt good about his commitment no matter what happens a few years down the road.

"I'm very nervous, but I think I'm ready to take it on," he said. "It's big boy football, and I know I'll have big shoes to fill. We'll see where it goes."

we believe in stretching our assets

The headquarters of Rajesh Exports (REL) in Bangalore looks worn, a far cry from what you would expect from India's leading exporter of gold jewellery. The nameplate, too, is shorn of frills, with black fonts painted on a cheap, white tin board. Inside the founder's room is a fax machine that's at least a generation old. The cellphone the 48-year-old uses is a low-end Nokia. "It serves my purpose," says Rajesh Mehta, the protagonist, with a poker face. Mehta's son, in charge of strategy and investor relations at Rajesh Exports, sits in a small room that housed computer servers not long ago. It's still labelled 'server room'.

Tightfisted? Yes. Hard times? Hell, no. The numbers will tell you why. The revenues of REL jumped from Rs 8,187 crore in March 2008 to Rs 25,653 crore in March 2012. That's an increase of over 213 percent in five years. During this period, its profits doubled from Rs 206 crore to Rs 412 crore, weathering the slump in 2009 and 2010,Qupid shoes and Splash manufacture fashionable ladies shoes wholesale, when profits dropped as REL cut its credit lines to customers and started offering discounts.

The company also boasts of the biggest manufacturing facility of gold jewellery in the worlda”with a capacity of 250 tonnesa”and is the top exporter of gold jewellery in the country. Behind the native frugality of the man hides the story of an entrepreneur who goes about his business with aplomb. "We don't believe in showing off. We believe in our business, we believe in stretching our assets, and we believe in growth," says Mehta. Last year, he ranked the 57th richest man in India with a net worth of $1 billion. This year, he is holding on to the rank but his net worth has gone up to $1.1 billion.

Mehta waded into the world of business in his teens. He was a good student, but chose business over university education. He started by helping out his father, who had moved to Bangalore from Gujarat and was running a business of supplying accessories and artificial gems to jewellers. Mehta visited his father's customers to supply goods, collect money and so on. A keen observer, he soon realised there was inefficiency everywhere. He sniffed an opportunity to provide efficient services and make money.

In 1982, Mehta borrowed Rs 2,000 from his brother and another Rs 8,000 from a bank and took his first steps as an independent businessman. He went to Chennai, bought silver jewellery from the local smiths and sold his wares to shops in Gujarat. He notched up a profit of Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, quite a big sum those days. With that money, Mehta bought jewellery from Gujarat, returned to Bangalore and earned a neat sum selling newer designs. From Bangalore to Chennai again and the cycle continued. Each trip made him richer, and he began to wonder why no one manufactured jewellery from a centralised location to benefit from the economies of scale.

When he asked around, jewellers told him it was because of the regulations. One day, he read up the Gold Control Act and realised that though it prohibited manufacturing of ornaments that had more than 14 carat purity, and put restrictions Learn about tungsten ring and jewelry care and up keep.on primary gold a dealer can hold (400 grams to 2 kg, depending upon the number of goldsmiths he employed), all these norms were relaxed in case of export. So, he set up a small plant in Bangalore and visited the UK to get orders. He stayed with a distant relative and made tours to London retailers, promising them a good price and delivery on time. The dealers were initially reluctant, revenue and contact information for priscillacraft Attorney. but he got some orders. And that's how his business took off.

As REL expanded and the Gold Control Act was repealed, he went for an IPO, raised money, set up a bigger plant, and by 2000 was thinking of setting up an even bigger one. The 250-tonne capacity unit started production in 2003. The scale gave him the economy. While the global average of wastage in gold production is 3 percent, for REL, it's 0.25 percent.

Meanwhile, the domestic market for gold was booming. India buys 850 tonnes of gold every year, and nine-tenths are consumed in the form of jewellery. It reaches the customers through four lakh retailers (and 8.5 lakh goldsmiths). The market was fragmented and 96 percent of it was unorganised. But since 2005, the organised sector began to grow at 40 percent a year. So far, Mehta made most of his money from exports. By now, he was ready to enter the frontend with his unique proposition: Offer a price that nobody can imitate.

DV Harish, who runs Davanam, a small chain of jewellery stores in Bangalore, and who has known Mehta for close to 25 years, says he always had the ambition of building an organised retail chain. "He used to talk about it in early '90s, even before we had the likes of Tanishq and Reliance."

Typically, when a jeweller wants to expand, he sets up a large format store in a key commercial district with much fanfare. For example, when Joyalukkas (brand based in the UAE) came to Bangalore, it took a prime property on MG Road. One of its stores in Chennai's T Nagar, which sprawled over five floors, won a place in the Limca Book of Records as the world's largest jewellery showroom.

But Mehta came up with a model that placed him on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of building huge showrooms or convincing businessmen to invest in new shops under a franchisee model, he approached existing small-time retailers (neighbourhood jewellery shops) catering to a local clientele. That's how 'Shubh' was born in 2010. While REL supplies the inventory and takes care of the advertising, the stores were rebranded and started to earn a commission for selling the wares at a price fixed by REL.

Mehta believes the key selling point of his plan is the pricing. Usually, jewellers charge more than the quoted gold price on account of wastage, making, and other expenses. At Shubh, the customers will be charged actual rate per gram (the weight multiplied by quoted price). As of today, the number of retail outlets has increased to 73 (apart from seven stores that came as a part of REL's Oyzterbay acquisition in 2007). Son Siddharth (22), who is in charge of strategy, says the company plans to expand to other southern states and eventually make its foray into north India.

And that can be quite a challenge given that Shubh will be up against Titan Industries, which has cracked the pan-India code with three chainsa”Tanishq, Goldplus and Zoya. With 163 stores across more than 4.6 lakh sq ft retail space, the Titan trio has raked in last fiscal Rs 7,064 crore in revenue, a growth of 40 percent over the previous year, and profits of Rs 698 crore, a rise of 44 percent. In comparison, Shubh hardly has anything to write home about and will face its real test when it ventures out of its home state of Karnataka.

Last year, Mehta drew up a five-year-plan that he calls Mission 2016. A crucial element of it involves turning REL into a retailer, as retailing yields more margins than manufacturing and wholesale. Last year, retail contributed about 3.5 percent to its revenues and 11 percent of profits. By 2016, Mehta wants it to contribute 55 percent of its revenues and 85 percent of its profits.

That would mean having 500 stores. By no measure an easy task. "Till now, jewellers who've tried to expand beyond their regions haven't been much successful," says Sandeep Kulhalli, vice president, retail and marketing, Tanishq.

Mehta is confident of converting the small retailers into Shubh associates. The company has an R&D team that's focussed on bringing out new designs, and has a library of over 30,000 active designs. And, more importantly, it has the advantage of being a large and efficient manufacturer with a distribution network. So, it can cut down middlemen. "We tell our associates that our designs are difficult to imitate and our prices are impossible to match," says Mehta. If such hardselling doesn't work, REL is also looking at the opportunity of opening a store nearby and selling jewellery at low prices.

DV Harish says the businessman Mehta resembles most is Dhirubhai Ambani, not because he is also a Gujarati, a vegetarian and has the same tightfisted approach to finances, but also because of his vision and faith in forward and backward integration. In Rajesh Mehta's scheme of things, it doesn't end with manufacturing and retail.

In 2009, he set up a gold refining facility in Uttarakhand with a capacity of 100 tonnes. Around the same time, he put together a team to explore mining opportunities in Africa. Ravi Chandra, who is in charge of the mining division says it has got exploration licences from Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, and Ethiopia among others and have been testing the samples for gold at its labs. "Gold is there, but what you have to look for is whether it makes economic sense to extract it." So far, the most promising samples have come from Rwanda, he says, and the mining operations there could start as early as next year.

Yet another way in which his approach to business resembles Dhirubhai's is the use of debt. REL has huge cash balances (Rs 7,854 crore as of March 2012), thanks to the 240-day credit it gets from the suppliers and cash sales to its customers. Still, its debt has ballooned to Rs 3,256 crore from Rs 970 crore in 2007-08, suggesting a Dhirubhai way of using debt and simultaneously maintaining cash balances. It is done to take advantage of lower interest rates prevailing in the market and use that money in the business, instead of dipping into your own reserves, which have a higher cost of capital.Find women shoes manufacturer products from DHgate factory portal, It helps that interest saves taxes.

One of the ways in which REL deploys its cash is through funding real estate companies. Vijayendra Rao,No shedding and no smell about our virgin malaysian hair weave. who is in charge of its Inter-Corporate Deposits (ICDs) business, says it has an exposure of Rs 800 crore to real estate developers. He joined REL four years ago from Hindustan Unilever, and with no experience in dealing with ICDs. He says Mehta not only taught him the business, but also how to drive a hard bargain.

Part of Mehta's lessons in economy is shaped by Gandhi's ideals. The rest has been inspired by a typical Indian household, struggling to make ends meet. "My inspiration comes from a family that's running a restaurant or a shop. They work hard, they stretch their resources. The idea is to bring in that attitude in a big company," he says.

That everybody was away at work

A Sri Lankan housemaid has been jailed for six months after a court convicted her of stealing jewellery worth Dh300,000 from an Emirati family she worked for. The 34-year-old Sri Lankan housemaid, LT, wasted 12 years of good service with her Emirati sponsor when she decided to carry out the heist. The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the defendant of stealing her sponsor’s jewellery.

“She worked for us for nearly 12 years during which we never had any problem with her. She stole jewellery and cash and clothes,” the Emirati sponsor said. “I am guilty. I robbed the jewellery,” said LT when she appeared before the court.

The Emirati woman testified that she discovered that LT took the safe keys and stole huge quantities of valuable jewellery on September 10. “Her job was to clean, iron clothes and fix the house rooms with the help of another housemaid. I kept the jewellery in a special safe in my daughter’s bedroom. She found the keys to the bedroom and the safe.

Then she abused the fact that everybody was away at work in the morning, she entered the room and stole the jewellery, the value of which varied between Dh250,looking for Authentic brazilian hair extensions you just arrived at the right place.000 and Dh300,000. “A day before I discovered the robbery, our neighbour’s housemaid visited us. She wanted to dispatch some of her personal belongings with a courier company through LT. “That was when I doubted that the defendant must have stolen my Dh4,000. I had placed the money in a handbag but later it disappeared.

Later in the evening I checked the belongings that the defendant was supposed to dispatch to her country, surprisingly I found my clothes and jewellery hidden in her bags. “I also found in her possession the room keys and the safe keys. When I confronted her,Online shopping stainless steel jewelry supplies steel titanium jewelry. LT confessed that she stole a huge quantity of jewellery,” claimed the sponsor. who are admired the world over are an obvious

With international sports icons Maria Sharapova, Michael Schumacher and Diego Maradona paying flying visits to India within weeks of each other, these seem to be the best of times for businesses cashing in on the growing interest in a sporty lifestyle.

Last month, riding on the back of the F1 fever, UK-based real estate developer Homestead roped in seven-time Grand Prix champion Michael Schumacher to endorse its debut project in the country. Michael Schumacher World Champion Tower at Sector-109, Gurgaon - an ultra-luxurious, single-tower residential project - will have its own helipad, café and a museum dedicated to the F1 star.

She was here to announce a tie-up with Homestead-India. Sharapova will endorse an upcoming residential project being rolled out by the real estate company.

"Our projects are targeted at the growing segment of well-heeled and well-travelled home buyers," says Manoj Shrivastava, COO, Homestead India,

"International sports icons who are admired the world over are an obvious choice for marketing high-end offering to such consumers."

Kerala's Chemmanur International Jewellers, owned by tycoon Bobby Chemmanur, got Argentine football legend Diego Maradona to open a jewellery store in Kannur in October.

Last year, the football whiz inaugurated a Chemmanur showroom in Dubai as well.

"Football has enjoyed a wide popularity in states such as Kerala and West Bengal, but with increasing exposure to global sporting events, a huge number of city dwellers are hooked on to F1 and the English Premier League," says Jitendra Joshi, CEO of SportzConsult.

"Now we have the Manchester United and Liverpool football schools coming up. It is only natural for our brands to exploit this growing fascination for international sporting events," adds Joshi.

And this fascination extends far beyond cricket. What is different is that while companies have forever banked on hero-worshipped sports stars to increase their market reach, the visible change is that domestic brands are teaming up with global sports icons, which is an investment in staying ahead in the game of one-upmanship.

Realty companies in the recent past have tied up with M.S. Dhoni (Amrapali), Gautam Gambhir (Rudra Buildwell), Shah Rukh Khan (Mahagun) and Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh (Gaur Saundaryam), but Homestead has upped the ante by roping in international stars.

"In an age when branded apparel, bags and watches are the rage, offering residential projects branded by international celebrities seemed like a natural corollary," says Homestead India's Srivastava.

many brands in silver are now available

Affordability, declares Bharat Shah of Aabhushan jewellery, is one of the main reasons for this upswing. He set up a shop, perhaps the first, “only for silverware” in the city in 1995 when the purchase of “Diwali sikka ” (Lakshmi embossed coin) was the most common silver item that sold well.

But things have changed and how. A beaming Visheshwara Pai of Indira Jewellers on TD Road, who set up shop in 2009, says that affordability is definitely a reason and also the variety in design that’s now available. Being part of Geeripai jewellery that deals with gold, silver and stones, he felt the need to start a separate outlet for silver to showcase the variety and meet the rising demands.

He says that “all the designs that are found in gold jewellery are now there in silver. Gold-plated silver jewellery is inexpensive and beautiful. .” He displays an attractive range of Italian design sets, laser-cut bangles, bracelets and neck pieces in antique finish silver.

“Traditionally, silver in Kerala was restricted to “pooja items,” – lamps, images of gods, Hanuman’s mace, gifts items for newborns, coins and bought mainly by the Brahmin community,” says Gopalakrishna, In charge of Bheema Silver Palace. The store stocks traditional and trendy items. “Men too come and purchase bracelets and chains. It is fashionable to wear silver now,” he says. They stock sterling silver (92.5), he adds, disclosing that all items at the store are certified by Kochi Assay, the Hallmark centre to ensure purity and quality.

Pooja jewellers on MG Road is a 40-year-old shop that dealt in gold and silver. It was in 1984 that they first brought silver to the city in a substantial way where it was noticed. Vinod Eswar Patil, proprietor, recounts that their clientele then were only Brahmins and North Indians and that silver sold at Rs. 6 for a gram. But Vinod and his father Eswar have seen the market turn.

“There is increased competition in the field now and a mind boggling increase in the variety available,” he says. They are wholesale dealers of silver and sell to retailers and small traders.

Bharat Shah credits college students in bringing about this change, especially in the concept of wearing silver jewellery.Tungsten Jewellry Manufacturer supply tungsten jewelry, The college students who studied outside Kerala returned with silver jewellery. They influenced kids here and a demand for such was created. They brought about this popularity and changed the outlook regarding silver.

“It was considered the poor man’s jewellery earlier and frowned upon,” says Jayashree Das, adding that such sentiments never deterred her from buying silver jewellery even earlier on. Now she finds to her surprise that people are wearing silver jewellery “evening for weddings.”

She has always admired the craftsmanship of old traditional silver jewellery with its crude and raw finish.

For young and pretty Supriya Nair, who graduated from St. Teresa’s College, silver is the new gold. She wears silver with pants, salwars,Wholesale sourcing from verified stainless steel jewelry supplies . and saris. “It complements any attire,” she says.

Anisha Menon finds silver imparting a youthful feel and look. “Gold is too formal and of course not for a youngster’s pocket,Tungsten Rings.com offers name brand tungsten ring for men and women.” she says.

Jayashree agrees saying that silver accessories are trendy and that many brands in silver are now available. “The market in silver jewellery has never been so good. From jhumkas studded with stones to rings, chains…there’s everything. Earlier it just a toe ring, waistband and anklet market.

Shriya Ramachandran says that she too defied the mindset that placed silver lower than gold. “It was as if you are wearing costume jewellery. Now the same people are flaunting silver,” she says having the last laugh. We judge ourselves not according to the smile on our ownfigurine.
