Titanic Belfast is the fifth and final city to host a travelling exhibition about US fantasy drama Game of Thrones; a massive international hit which is shot in large part in Northern Ireland.

Even First Minister Peter Robinson agreed to attend a function yesterday evening with a number of the stars of the show.

More than 12,000 free tickets have been given out to the exhibition on the first floor, and a limited number are also expected to be given out to those turning up each day.

Prior to today the other cities to host the exhibition were Toronto, New York, Sao Paolo and Amsterdam.

The exhibition runs from today until June 17, and since it is so close to the Titanic Quarter studio where segments of the show have been filmed, it was described by one of those organising it as a homecoming of sorts.

Los Angeles-based actress Miss Wilson won the trip to Belfast thanks to a competition run by HBO, the firm behind the show, in which she designed a trailer for the programme.

She said: “It’s always been a dream of mine to see Northern Ireland – it’s basically a dream come true, this trip, and Game of Thrones is my favourite show.

“So far it’s been breathtaking. A Game of Thrones fan as big as I am, it’s amazing to see this.”

Speaking at a function at the Crumlin Road Gaol later yesterday evening, after reporters had been shown around an open day of the exhibition, Mr Robinson hailed the decision to host the final stop of the exhibition in Northern Ireland as “a great tribute to Belfast”.your creative source for Custom metal card business cards with your specialized.

He said: “The film and television industries are vitally important to Northern Ireland and, through continued investment in our creative industries, we will continue to build on our reputation across the world as an excellent location to invest.”

Elana Loewenthal, international director of marketing for HBO, said: “It’s the perfect home, because this is the home of Game of Thrones. To have everything here in the place it’s all created is just absolutely fitting.

It has been filmed at locations across Northern Ireland including Slemish and Carrick-a-Rede, as well as in Iceland and Morocco.
