Studying and working hard were out the window. All any teenager wanted to be was famous. With reality TV shows saturating the television networks, it wasn't difficult for them to have their five minutes of fame.
These heady teenage ambitions, it seems, have now taken a darker turn.
A new film by Sofia Coppola, 'The Bling Ring', highlights how teenagers are obsessed with broadcasting their lives via a screen at any cost. These adolescents crave fame and celebrity and are willing to achieve it even if that means breaking the law.

The tape went viral and made her famous around the globe.
Teenagers everywhere worshipped her. Parents, on the other hand, were not so thrilled with this new role model.
But the Bling Ring didn't rob their favourite celebrities for the money, they just wanted to know what it was like to be them. They wanted to wear these famous people's clothes and jewellery and take their drugs.
When researching the film, Coppola spent time with teenagers in Los Angeles.
