Many states provide income tax credits

Conservation and environmental groups openly advocate the conservation easements as the answer to saving farm land, as do state departments of agriculture, farm bureaus, and the federal government. A full court press is on to lock in millions of acres of private property under the blazing headline “Save the Family Farm.”

There’s no question that the family farm is under assault. Taxes, international trade agreements, inflation, and government regulations are eating away at the ability to keep the farm operating. I’ve never met a farmer who wanted to give up and stop working the land that perhaps his ancestors first acquired. In most cases it’s agony for a farmer to decide to sell his property. On the other hand, the land is his main asset. To provide a good life for the family, selling the land, many times to developers is necessary for survival.

However, there is now a much more lethal threat facing small farmers, and the outrageous fact is,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. this threat is being disguised as a way to help them. The real threat is the green solution – “conservation easements.” And farmers are falling into its trap across the country.

Conservation easements are promoted by land trusts and environmental groups. Tax breaks are promoted. Even cash is offered those farmers willing to sell their development rights,Metal Repair Aluminum foil tape Products is also excellent for metal. under the argument that this will drive away the temptation to sell the land to nasty developers, thus keeping it farm land The clever slogan, “farm land lost is farm land lost forever” helps sell the case for easements.

The promoters of such ideas are very good with the sales pitch. If it were politically correct to do so, one could actually hear “God Bless America” playing in the background as the promises to save the family farm roll off the pitchman’s tongue.

Say proponents, “A conservation easement is a voluntary perpetual agreement that restricts non- agricultural uses such as mining and large scale residential and commercial development.” They boldly promote the easements by promising that “the landowner continues to own, live on and use the land.” They even promise that the land can be passed down to heirs, along with generous tax credits. What’s not to like? Desperate farmers are flocking to the pitchman’s wagon to buy his life-saving potion.

Of course, as another famous pitchman, P.T Barnum, once said, “there’s a sucker born every minute.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,My way of applying kapton tape to Glass.” Farmers beware the slick talker who has the answers to your woes. His answers may well be your demise – and your farm’s. It’s wise to read the fine print of a conservation easement agreement. Here are some facts.

In a typical conservation easement, a private Land Trust organization purchases some or all of the “bundle” of a property owners rights. The bundle includes development rights for the property; the ability to overrule the owner’s choice of how to use the property, including adding more buildings or renovating or rebuilding existing buildings; in the case of farmers, it may include decisions on which fields to use for planting , or even which crops to grow and the technique to be used. All of these things come under the command of the easement. And all of it may become the decision of the Land Trust, because once the conservation easement agreement is signed the owner’s rights are legally subservient to his new partner, the Trust.

True, in exchange, the property owner receives charitable deductions on federal taxes based on the difference between the values of the land before and after granting the easement. The property owner receives relief from federal estate or inheritance taxes. Many states provide income tax credits and property tax relief. And the owner receives a payment for his development rights.

In the beginning it all sounds good.Uline stocks a wide selection of Double sided tape Products. Money in the pocket; the farm safe from development; and the ability to practice the beloved tradition of farming. Well, maybe.

This is especially effective when trying to dislodge a land owner who has refused to sell his land to the government or sign a conservation easement. The Nature Conservancy is a master at this trick, creating millions of dollars of income for the group. Its favorite practice is to tell the land owner that the government intends to take the land, but if they sell to the Conservancy then it will guarantee that the land will stay in private hands. But of course, since the government intends to take the land it is now worth much less. So they get the landowner to sell at a reduced rate. Then the Conservancy calls the government agency to tell them the good news that they have the land. And the agency pays the Conservancy full market value. They call that “Capitalism with a heart!!”

Because ownership rights are muddled between taxes, restrictions and best practices requirements, it can be difficult to find a buyer willing to pay a fair market price for the land. In a sense, once the easement is signed, ervation Easement deeds use broad language that expands the trust’s control but very specific language that limits the landowner’s rights.

In addition to the farmland in Kumarakom

Actor Mammootty surprised everyone recently when he took up a farmer's role in real life. He joined farmers in ploughing his own land in Kumarakom, much to the delight of his fans. Though the superstar has a tech savvy image,This Tissue Double sided tissue tape Products is so cool. not many knew that green streak in him, let alone about his own farm. Apparently, Mammootty is just one of the many celebs in Malayalam cinema with an avid interest in paddy and vegetable farming. Actors Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Kunchacko Boban, and directors Sathyan Anthikad and Fazil all share a passion for farming.

"The secret behind Mammootty's health and youthfulness is the home grown, pesticide-free food that he consumes," says K M Hilal, natural farming propagator, who introduced the actor to the concept of natural farming. "Mammootty was always interested in farming, but was intrigued by the idea of natural farming recently. He wanted the cultivation in his 17 acres of land to be natural, without using pesticides." Hilal adds that he admires Mammootty in that the actor takes care to study all aspects of agriculture and natural farming thoroughly. "His dedication is admirable. At home, he and his family uses only naturally grown products as far as possible."

In addition to the farmland in Kumarakom,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape Products. Mammootty has now taken up the initiative to convert farm lands jointly owned by a group of his friends into a natural farm. "He also plans to grow fruits and vegetables in his land at Kakkanad as the next step," says Hilal.

And Mammootty is not the only one. If you visit actor/scriptwriter Sreenivasan's house in Kochi, you will be served a meal made entirely out of natural, home grown products. If you are lucky, you might even get some home grown vegetables as a parting gift. "Sreenivasan was always interested in farming but it's only recently that he actually starting his own farm," says his wife Vimala, adding that the very reason why the actor bought the house he lives in now is because he wanted land for cultivation. "Besides paddy, we grow our own vegetables too. In fact, there is nothing we don't grow here; we have ladies finger, long beans, drumstick and more. Sreenivasan too believes in natural farming, otherwise why grow them on your own? You can as well buy them from the market. Even the provisions used in the house are purely organic," Vimala adds.

Although Sreenivasan doesn't get the time to actually work on the farm and the vegetable garden himself, he is the one who gives instructions to the workers, she says, and adds, "When there is an excess of rice and vegetables, we give it away to anyone who visits us. Sreenivasan takes care to eat only organic food even during shoots."

"When you are an actor, it is difficult to find time for all this, but Salim Kumar is someone who makes sure to find time for his farm," adds the source.

what daily life in the area is like for many

People often remember decades by the music and wardrobes. The 70s were disco and bellbottoms. The 80s were hair-band and leather. The 90s were flannel and grunge, and the 2000/2010s, well, we’re still not sure what time will say about these decades.

But there is another way to differentiate between the decades, and that’s to look at what Hollywood and the media told us was the “dangerous dog” of the time.

Today we equate pit bulls as the bad-boys of the canine world, and that label’s stuck with them for the better part of two decades. However,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. prior to the pit bull’s emergence as king of the dangerous dogs, a few other breeds enjoyed this honor. Depending on which decade you turn to, you’ll be surprised to learn that other breeds got just as much hate mail as the modern day pit bull. An interestingly enough, once a breed got the reputation of being a “bad boy,” his stock rose. Many people who wanted a dangerous dog flocked to the breed, as did many people looking to prove that reputation wrong. The same goes for the Pit Bull today. It’s got a bad rep, but is becoming an increasingly popular breed, for all the right, and wrong, reasons.

The hope is that more eyes in the sky, especially ones that can film everything that occurs in 360 degrees day or night, will help police catch criminals.

That’s just what the block needs, said Heather Brown, district manager at nearby Rock Universe.

“There’s crime all the time. Even at eight o’clock at night when we’re closing the store, we have people selling hard drugs right outside of our store,” she said. “They’re trying to get us, and trying to get our customers.”

She painted a grim picture of what daily life in the area is like for many.

“I’ve been approached, and I’ve seen my friends get into fights just for looking at somebody the wrong way. It’s always at this corner,” she said. “There are never any cops at that corner. For the (World Figure Skating Championships) they were here, and then all of a sudden it’s back to this.”

Brown said that cameras might not stop crime, but they would certainly help police know who was committing it.stocks a huge selection of aluminum foil tape.

“To know who it is would work because some of these people, I don’t know how they’re even still out here,” she said.

Farther south on Richmond Street, PT Campbell Book Dealer Paul Campbell would like to see them, too, though he doesn’t share Brown’s assessment of how dangerous the block can be.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,

“I don’t think there are any big problems down here, but you do need it at that corner because it’s so busy,” he said. “There are people to keep an eye on. The police watch some people, and this would help them do that.”

Campbell said the crime rate in the area has gone up and down many times in the past decade. Things right now aren’t too bad.

“I’ve talked to the police, and the only reason there seems to be more problems down here is because there are more people. When you have more people, you have more trouble,Online supplies a large range of double sided tape.” he said. “If the cameras can look in all directions, that’s exactly what you need.”

Of the 17 surveillance cameras in the core, four are on York Street between Talbot and Clarence streets; four are on King Street between Talbot and Clarence; five are on Dundas between Talbot and Wellington streets; and four dot Richmond Row.

The $5,000 cost of buying and installing the proposed pair for Richmond and Dundas could be covered in the city existing budget, officials say.

who is hell-bent on reuniting the gang

"It was fantastic – I got to fight 10 men at once and didn't get hit," says bearded Frost, 41, recalling the scenes in which he and co-stars Pegg, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine and Eddie Marsan release their inner action men when a routine pub crawl takes an unexpected turn.

On hand to assist was stunt co-ordinator Brad Allan, who has worked with martial arts legend Jackie Chan for years.

"He's serious, but sometimes you'd see him laughing at the monitors at something you'd done and you'd feel amazing," says Essex-born Frost. My way of applying kapton tape to Glass.

The latest story begins in 1990 in the town of Newton Haven when five teenage boys celebrate leaving school by attempting – and failing – an epic pub crawl.

Twenty years later, the 'five musketeers' have grown up and moved on, with the exception of irrepressible ringleader Gary King (Pegg), who is hell-bent on reuniting the gang and tackling the 12-pint 'Golden Mile' again.

Unenthused, the others go along with Gary's plan but soon realise something odd's going on in their home town, and the pub crawl begins to unravel.

"It's a bigger proposition for us than the earlier pictures," says Pegg, 43, sitting next to his long-time friend Frost. As with the two earlier films, Pegg co-wrote the script with Edgar Wright (who has directed all three) and reveals that the pub crawl element "partly came from a script Edgar had toyed with at a young age", based on one he and his friends attempted as teens.

They didn't make it past pub six,Solutions is batch tested to insure the EMI material Products. but that sense of it being a quest stuck with Wright. This time, though, the drinking marathon is just the beginning.

"When you go back to your home town, you experience this simultaneous feeling of familiarity and alienation.Uline stocks a wide selection of Double sided tape Products. You can't put your finger on what it is.

"It looks the same but it isn't – and that's because you are different, it's not different," says Pegg, who is from Gloucester, but now lives in London with his wife Maureen and daughter Matilda.

"We thought it would be funny if [in the film] the reason it feels different is if it had been taken over by alien robots."

The pair couldn't have had a better time on set. "We just hung out," says Frost. "I wish I could tell you some story where we all hated one another but we just laughed a lot.

"It was that thing where you get home and you have your shower and you get your bag ready for the next day and you think, 'I can't wait to get in', and that's a rare thing in any job."

It wasn't all laughs though. "We all had a moment in the film where we're angry or upset or sad and it's serious acting, not just goofing around," says Frost. "But it all felt very supportive. This Tissue Double sided tissue tape Products is so cool."

At least they all knew each other. Freeman and Considine starred in the trilogy's earlier titles, while Marsan was one of the dwarves in last year's Snow White And The Huntsman alongside Frost, and was directed by Considine in the bleak drama Tyrannosaur.

LEFT alone, Paddy will just dance around and say things inappropriately," reveals Frost.

"Martin's a dark horse," adds Pegg. "He likes to make you laugh but pretends he's not doing it."

And Marsan? Well, Pegg was keen to show him in a softer light on screen. "Eddie's a master at playing bad guys," says Pegg. "I mean he refers to himself as 'Rent-a-villain-Eddie-Marsan' and we loved the idea of him playing a sympathetic, loveable character."

Among all this testosterone, former Bond girl Rosamund Pike, plays Freeman's sister.

"She gives as good as she gets, and throws herself into it," says Pegg. Frost adds: "But we were protective of her.Find a variety of monolayer protective film Products. When it was cold, the five of us would crowd around her and give her a penguin cuddle."

Banter aside, there was a reason Pegg "relished" the movie. He went through a Goth phase in his youth,so leapt at the chance to dress Gary as a Goth. This time round, he even dyed his gingery-blonde locks black.

"I never dyed my hair when I was young. I always thought it would upset my mum, so to do it felt like I was putting something to bed," he says, laughing.

Frost, who lives in London with his wife Christina and their son, was a raver, back in the day.

"And still am," he adds. "Well, my fashion's different but I still listen to that music now."

There is a tendency to see this film

A collection of home movies so pathetic and shocking that the viewer cannot help but feel at least temporary sympathy for Richard M. Nixon.

Screened at the 39th Seattle International Film Festival, this amazing film ranks as one of the greatest assemblies of home movies ever made. As the story goes, presidential insiders H.R. "Bob" Haldeman, John Erlichman, and/or Dwight Chapin were Super 8 video nuts. They loved to make home movies, they loved to make home movies of famous people, and they had total access to the most famous person in the world; Richard Milhous Nixon.Forward wholesale fashion shoes sold by the case for your stores and boutiques. The film is comprised entirely of archival TV news footage, press interviews and the Super 8 home movies of the three aids,We offer a great selection of women's boots and ladies shoes wholesale. who were probably the closest political operatives in the world to the most powerful president in the world. And,Worldwide leader in PET protective film Products and Coated Papers. boy, were they dumb.

Also known as “Tricky Dick,” President Nixon also went down in history as the most vilified president of the 20th century as a result of his assumed responsibility for the Watergate break-in. This break in was executed to gather information to further his aim of re-election, although there is little reason to believe he would not have won, anyway, even without the information he broke the law to obtain.

Most of this is common knowledge to Americans in their 50s to 80s and is known at least through history books to younger generations. Even so, there is something eerily spooky about this film that puts an entirely new light on the facts that we thought we knew, and the people we thought we knew. The tapes were seized by the FBI during the Watergate investigation and locked up for forty years. When Lane and her co-producer Brian L. Frye learned of their release, they seized on the chance to plow through endless hours of material to cull the priceless makings of this film.

Part of the effect is due to the telling of this heart breaking and tragic story through a medium that many Americans grew up associating with a loving, protective and secure family. Although the Nixon administration started that way, it ended on a completely different note. Super 8 is the medium of the child’s birthday party, the first Christmas, the christening, the summer vacation at the lake, and the trip to see Grandma. That is exactly the way the film starts out; Super 8 videos of the happiest of times. The White House was exquisitely simple and spacious compared to today’s tightly synched staff army of the Obama administration.

In fact, to this day nobody can tell exactly why Nixon hired the gravely inexperienced Haldeman to head his staff. Perhaps he found badly needed ego strokes in being surrounded by people who did not, and could not, make him look bad. This dreadful lack of experience, wisdom and just plain common sense would eventually turn the halcyon days of grinning, grainy videos into the final tragic recordings of betrayal.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,

There is a tendency to see this film as engineered by Haldeman, Erlichman, Chapin, and/or their heirs and supporters, if not to rewrite history then, at least, to blunt its edge. Since Haldeman died in 1993 and Erlichman in 1999 enough water has flowed under the bridge to soften the hurt. Or perhaps director Penny Lane wanted to set the record straight, at least the way she saw it, by confirming that much of the blame for the failed administration should be attributed to Nixon, himself. In the end, the recording we hear seems to echo the conscious stricken, humiliated and disgraced president confirming that he knew everything but would force his staff to take the blame.

Considering that most Americans alive at the time, who were old enough to consider the evidence, had already come to that conclusion, this film has an awesome impact anyway. There is something about the way that the story nails the lid on the coffin that is truly remarkable. Again,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. perhaps it is the innocence of the completely amateurish and squeaky clean home movies contrasted with the disgrace of the president of the greatest democracy in the world intentionally breaking the law to gain re-election.

The film includes priceless clips of Henry Kissinger, complete with statements by insiders that Kissinger always claimed, though never to Nixon’s face, that as Secretary of State he was solely responsible for the historic rapprochement with China. Apparently he told anybody who would listen that the President had little to do with it, in either conception or execution. Maybe this explains why Nixon was averse to being surrounded by smart people. With smart friends like Kissinger, who needs enemies?

All-in-all, a very entertaining film and a “must-see" for anybody with an ounce of political pundit in them or an ounce of appreciation for watching the unfolding of dreadful disasters. The wonder of the Kodak moment makes the fall from grace only the more painful.

why you buy car or life insurance

Elon Musk has flown so high, so fast, it is hard not to wonder when, and how, he will crash to earth. How could he not? Musk is so many things – inventor, entrepreneur, billionaire, space pioneer, inspiration for Iron Man's playboy superhero Tony Stark – and he has pushed the boundaries of science and business, doing what others declare impossible. At some point,Online supplies a large range of double sided tape. surely, he will fall victim to sod's law, or gravity.

He is only 41, but so far Musk shows no sign of tumbling earthwards. Nasa and other clients are queuing up to use his rockets, part of the rapid commercialisation of space. His other company, electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors, is powering ahead.Metal Repair Aluminum foil tape Products is also excellent for metal. Such success would satisfy many tycoons, but for Musk they are merely means to ends: minimising climate change and colonising Mars. And not in some distant future – he wants to accomplish both within our lifetimes.

Musk has a reputation for being prickly but when I meet him at SpaceX, his headquarters west of Los Angeles, he is affable and chatty, cheerfully expounding on space exploration, climate change, Richard Branson and Hollywood. Oh, and what he would like written on his Martian tombstone.

"The key thing for me," he begins,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape Products. "is to develop the technology to transport large numbers of people and cargo to Mars. That's the ultimate awesome thing." Musk envisages a colony with 80,000 people on the red planet. "But of course we must pay the bills along the way. So that means serving important customers like Nasa, launching commercial broadcasting communication satellites, GPS satellites, mapping, science experiments. "There's no rush in the sense that humanity's doom is imminent; I don't think the end is nigh. But I do think we face some small risk of calamitous events. It's sort of like why you buy car or life insurance. It's not because you think you'll die tomorrow, but because you might."

Musk does not look the stereotypical plutocrat. He wears jeans and a T-shirt and sits behind a rather ordinary desk overlooking a car park, beyond which is Hawthorne, California's answer to Slough. We offer a great selection of women's boots and ladies shoes wholesale. He occupies the corner of a ground-floor, open-plan office that barely constitutes a cubicle. Walk just 40 metres, however, and there is a sight to quicken the pulse: SpaceX's factory, a 1m sq ft sprawl where engineers and technicians work on rockets, propulsion systems and casings for satellites. Suspended over the entrance is the cone-shaped capsule of Dragon, which last year became the first commercial vehicle in history to successfully dock with the International Space Station.

The final frontier has fascinated Musk since he was a boy. Growing up in Pretoria, the son of a Canadian mother and South African father, he taught himself coding and software, mixing geek talent with business nous: he designed and sold a video game, Blastar, by the age of 12. He later studied economics and physics in Canada and the US and moved to Silicon Valley, resolving to focus on three areas: the internet, clean energy, space.

Musk made his mark by co-founding PayPal, which transformed e-commerce, in 1999. He sold it three years later to eBay for $1.5bn. When, armed with this fortune, he turned to space exploration, the consensus said he was nuts. Building and launching rockets was the preserve of states – big states, because small states tended to spend a fortune trying and still fail.

It takes me a moment to realise it's not a rhetorical question. Um, poison the barbarians' water supply, I joke. Musk smiles and shakes his head. The answer is in technology. "The lessons of history would suggest that civilisations move in cycles. You can track that back quite far – the Babylonians, the Sumerians, followed by the Egyptians,Forward wholesale fashion shoes sold by the case for your stores and boutiques. the Romans, China. We're obviously in a very upward cycle right now and hopefully that remains the case. But it may not. There could be some series of events that cause that technology level to decline. Given that this is the first time in 4.5bn years where it's been possible for humanity to extend life beyond Earth, it seems like we'd be wise to act while the window was open and not count on the fact it will be open a long time."

The most exciting prospect is probably the fact

Whether these smaller games are your thing or not is something you’ll have to decide for yourself. There are some great gaming experiences on offer, if you know what you’re looking for, and the OUYA’s “Discover” section does a reasonable – if repetitive – job of surfacing some of the better games. The fact that each section of recommended games, be they the platform’s “featured” or a guest “playlist”, contains pretty much the same list of games is testament to how limited the selection is just now. But it’s early days and, if the platform’s “every game must have a free version” mantra doesn’t ruin the chances of developers profiting, there’s plenty of time for expansion in the software catalogue.

Everything on the OUYA Play section is playable with the controller but it’s also relatively easy to side-load much of the Android library, if you can get your hands on the .apk files that install them. The legality of this is often a grey area – some developers will just give you their install files while some apps can only be found by grubbing around in the internet’s less salubrious regions and circumventing the publisher’s approved distribution methods. Anything you side-load will likely have different degrees of controller support, most of it having been made for the touch-screen hardware that Android traditionally powers.

The controller, though, is awful. It feels like something designed by someone who has a vested interest in increasing the occurrence of hand cramp in gamers. Our MileWeb managed dedicated server are designed to meet the most demanding requirements for performance, Ergonomic, it isn’t.

It’s also shoddily made. The D-pad manages to achieve something I thought impossible: it’s worse than the Xbox 360 D-pad. For the style of games that currently dominate the Play section on OUYA – largely precise, focussed games in a pseudo-retro style – that’s unworkable. The triggers feel cheap and flimsy, with far too much sideways wobble as they descend and the face buttons are similarly spongey and regularly stick down, caught under the casing. The almost smooth, convex analogue sticks seem designed to offer the best possible chance of thumb-slippage and the trackpad in the centre of the controller is laggy and unresponsive. This is the worst videogame controller I’ve used in quite some time.

Happily, the vast majority of OUYA games are also compatible with one of the best controllers available: the PlayStation 3’s DualShock 3. Pairing this superior controller is simple, too, just plug it in once with the USB cable and it’ll pair to the OUYA and work until you pair it with something else. You lose the touchpad on the OUYA controller but there are limited use-cases for that at the moment anyway. Bluetooth keyboards and mice can also be paired, and presumably headsets would also work, in case anyone ports a chat app to it or a developer puts voice chat in their OUYA game. Unlikely? Maybe, but the potential of the OUYA is its most interesting aspect.

The OUYA is certainly not alone in the Android-powered games console market, although it’s the most well-known and probably the best funded. Competitors like GameStick and different approaches like Unu hint at the emergence of a veritable plethora of options in this largely unexplored mobile-to-TV market. It seems that numerous companies are seeing the potential in putting cheap (relatively) hardware, ostensibly for gaming, under your TV. The most exciting prospect is probably the fact that these systems are so easy to break into. OUYA might have a limited store just now but developing for Android is relatively easy and cheap. It’s also a hotbed for the retro emulation crowd – something that the OUYA supports quite openly.

Emulators are another legal grey area and it’s futile for us to go too deep on the discussion of the legality or morality behind emulating older systems on newer hardware. In very simple terms, emulators are generally perfectly legal but the software they enable is potentially still owned by someone else and running it on an emulator contravenes licensing laws. But it’s available, it’s simple and it works on OUYA. If you stick to emulating the games that you still own, on a tape or cartridge in your attic for example, you shouldn’t be straying far enough from legal or moral safe ground, either.

Solely as a games console, OUYA falls short at the moment and it’s incredibly unlikely that it will ever offer anything to tempt console gamers that generally stick to their modern military shooters, sports and racing games. If you like the kind of focussed experience that mobile gaming is abundant with, or smaller-scale indie games that don’t need the most powerful hardware to run on, there’s ample potential in OUYA. Likewise, if you’re keen on emulation (and happy with the ambiguous legality), OUYA is an ideal platform for you.

The Catholic Health Association comprises

The Morris County Board of Freeholders and the county’s Department of Law and Public Safety invite high school students who will be entering grades 10-12 to participate in a free summer Youth Public Safety Academy Aug. 5 through Aug. 9 at the county’s Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., in Parsippany.

The academy is a one week training program,” whose objective is to expose the student “cadets” to some very rewarding careers in public safety, public service, including county government, the judiciary, emergency services and law enforcement, said the academy’s coordinator, William Schievella.

“We will be placing strong emphasis on self-respect, respect of others, teamwork and commitment to one’s goals,” Schievella said. “The academy is perfect for any high school student who would like a challenge this summer.”

The academy will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., each day, with a structured, hands-on curriculum that will include interaction with county agencies; field trips; presentations from educators; an overview of Emergency Medical Services training; fire department, SWAT/SERT Team and K-9/Bomb Unit demonstrations; crime scene investigations; and physical training, according to Schievella.

“All of our presentations will be offered in a fun, informative, interactive, educational and hands-on manner in a format similar to what actual police, fire and EMS academy cadets experience,” he said.

Freeholder Douglas Cabana said the freeholder board is sponsoring the academy to build interest in public service and public safety professions.

“Maybe, one day, because of the experience gained at the academy, one of these students will run for public office or pursue a career in law enforcement or volunteer as a firefighter or EMT,” said Cabana, freeholder liaison to the Department of Law and Public Safety. “But, even if they don’t, the leadership lessons they will learn during the week at the academy will last them a lifetime.”

As the U.S. Catholic bishops ramp up to again fight an Obama administration mandate regarding coverage of contraceptive services in health care plans, the leaders of the church's national health care apparatus have announced they will lay down arms.

The Catholic Health Association (CHA), which describes itself as the largest group of nonprofit health care providers in the nation, said it sees its part in the fight, which began a year and a half ago over concerns that the mandate didn't offer protections for those opposed to contraception, as basically finished.

The administration "has now established an accommodation that will allow our ministries to continue offering health insurance plans for their employees as they have always done," Charity Sr. Carol Keehan, the association's president, said in a memorandum to the group's members Monday.

"We are pleased that our members now have an accommodation that will not require them to contract,Hivelocity offers reliable and affordable Windows MileWeb windows dedicated server. provide, pay or refer for contraceptive coverage," Keehan continued.

The Catholic Health Association comprises more than 600 hospitals and 1,400 long-term care and other health facilities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The Department of Health and Human Services first issued the mandate, which the Obama administration has amended several times, in January 2012 as part of the implementation of the health care reform law.

supports the capability to escalate certain alerts

IBM i shops that use MIMIX software can now monitor their high availability environments from a mobile device with the latest release of Halcyon Software's HA-MX Monitor. Version 11 of Halcyon's tool allows administrators to check on the status of MIMIX replication and manage alerts from any iOS and Android smartphone and tablet.we are committed to providing wireless MileWeb Services Overview.

HA-MX Monitor is a little-known member of Halcyon's suite of systems management and monitoring tools for the IBM i server. The product, which Halcyon has not talked about much over the years, keeps an eye on MIMIX replication processes and errors, freeing administrators to work on other tasks.

With the launch of HA-MX Monitor version 11, Halcyon added support for its Enterprise Console, the centralized GUI that allows customers to view, filter, and respond to messages and alerts generated by a range of Halcyon products for IBM i, Windows, Linux, and AIX, such as backup, scheduling, or performance tools. The Enterprise Console ships as part of all major product bundles, and is available in Windows, Web, and mobile versions.

Part and parcel of the support for Enterprise Console in HA-MX version 11 are the mobile apps for iOS and Android. Available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play store, the mobile app gives customers the capability to view all HA-MX content from a smartphone or a tablet.

"Our product strategy is to ensure, where possible, that users can access their data from wherever they are in the world," says Donnie MacColl, Halcyon's technical director. "With this new release of HA-MX for IBM Power Systems, and the centralized user interface with the mobile apps, we are making 'single point of access' a reality and enabling MIMIX users to save considerable time.Migrating a MileWeb Promotion Dedicated Server or cloud server from one provider to another is easy."

HA-MX Monitor keeps a constant watch on MIMIX replication and apply processes. The software is configurable, and allows the user to set thresholds for the alerts. For example, it can be set to send an alert when the Object Apply Backlog gets to a certain point, or the Last Apply Time reaches a specific value.

By tailoring how it generates alerts from MIMIX operations, HA-MX Monitor allows administrators to be notified of only serious problems, and to ignore "transient error conditions" that do not necessarily indicate a serious problem.

Additionally,Hivelocity offers reliable and affordable Windows MileWeb windows dedicated server. the software supports the capability to escalate certain alerts according to a customer's specific procedures. “For example, if you buy a larger bag of confectionery, is the ability to reseal it and save it for later a key reason for choosing the pack? How many people take advantage of this feature, and how many eat the entire contents in one go?

“On a more serious note, what types of products would consumers like to see in packs that are easier to reseal? Is being able to buy in larger sizes and save the contents important? Is this a more convenient way to shop?”

Feedback is being requested through Payne’s Packaging Resolved Facebook page,Visit us to find a company offering a flexible Protective film Products. where the company seeks to engage with consumers to promote the many benefits of good packaging and identify areas where there is room for further improvement.

The company’s initial research into consumer attitudes to packaging has already identified that consumers tend to respond positively to packaging that is fit for purpose, with opening, closing, protecting and informing being some of the main elements of many successful and popular packs.

“As an industry, we are quite rightly focused on delivering sustainable benefits but our research showed that frustrations and difficulties in opening packs are of more concern to many consumers than environmental considerations,” says Martin Dallas.

“Similarly, while reclosable packs offer tremendous benefits in terms of reducing food waste and raw material consumption and we need to explain these benefits to consumers, it is also important to understand what else concerns them and how as an industry we can effectively respond to this. Through our Packaging Resolved Facebook page we hope to obtain some initial feedback and data that we can research and develop further.”

Creativity refers to the process of developing new ideas, where innovation involves the implementation of new ideas.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape, manufacturers and Double sided PET industry tape Products suppliers Directory.

This week, I re-learned the art of play and how it can inspire creativity and innovation from 10 young budding entrepreneurs during our Women’s Business Center-Junior Achievement Youth Entrepreneurship camp. The campers ranged in age from 13 to 18, with 50 percent girls and 50 percent boys.

Given only a few minutes of preparation time, they learned the art of storytelling and delivered their 30-second pitches in an actual elevator (including 13 people jammed in) with such masterful exuberance that I was ready to buy the imaginary product or service they had just created.

Why is play so important? Research suggests that it fosters creativity, flexibility and learning. It stimulates our imaginations and helps to adapt and solve problems. Despite the power of play, sometime between childhood and adulthood, many of us stop playing. We are more likely to spend our leisure time watching TV or downloading movies on the computer than engaging in playful and creative games.

Perhaps this is why companies like Google have re-thought their work complexes and created “play” spaces for workers that include music rooms, gyms and sand volleyball courts in an effort to inspire creativity and innovation.

According to Daniel Pink, author of A Whole New Mind: Why Right-brainers Will Rule the Future, we are transitioning from the information age of knowledge workers to the conceptual age of creators, artists, empathizers, pattern recognizers and “meaning makers.” Where logical, linear thinking had been rewarded until now, our economy and society is beginning to recognize and reward creativity, innovation, empathy and big-picture thinking.

These measures are a result of differing laws governing the sale and possession of fireworks in Delaware, Pennsylvania and surrounding states.

In Delaware and New Jersey, the sale, possession, transportation and use of any type of consumer fireworks is prohibited by law. Pennsylvania, however, allows for the sale of fireworks to out-of-state residents. Possession and use of fireworks by Pennsylvania residents remains illegal.

This means that every July 4,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape Products. Delaware residents flock across the border to fireworks stores in Pennsylvania and Maryland, according to Assistant State Fire Marshall Michael Chionchio.

“People will be arrested,” Chionchio said, noting that punishment for fireworks violations can rise to a felony if damage or injury is incurred. “Our mission is to prevent the injuries and death that consumer fireworks can cause.”

But customers and retailers say the hassle and red tape surrounding the sale of fireworks exaggerates the danger they pose.

Trevor, a Long Beach Island, N.J. resident who did not want to be named for fear of being arrested, said he understands fireworks can be dangerous, but he still plans to shoot them off. He has had fireworks displays since he was a kid, he said, and wants to continue the tradition.

Trevor said he believes New Jersey’s fireworks prohibition is a result of antiquated laws which need to be amended.

William Weimer,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. vice president of Phantom Fireworks, said recent developments in fireworks technology make these laws obsolete.

“Products are clearly safer, less and less people are getting injured, and legislators protecting us doesn’t really seem necessary anymore,” Weimer said, pointing to new reports on fireworks-related injuries from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. “The question is, with a smarter public,Uline stocks a wide selection of Double sided tape Products. what’s with Delaware, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts still having full bans?”

Just before July 4 each year, the CPSC releases a report detailing fireworks-related deaths, injuries and enforcement activities. According to these reports, consumer firework imports have doubled since 1994, from 117 million pounds to 234.1 million pounds in 2011. Over the same period, injuries stemming from fireworks have decreased 23 percent.

Why do tribes and the American government officials

Edward Snowden, former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor turned privacy activist and leaker of government documents, is currently seeking asylum from several sovereign nations—without much luck so far. Could an American Indian tribe offer assistance if so inclined?

Stranded in Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport after flying there from Hong Kong on June 23, he’s had his American passport revoked for detailing domestic and international spying techniques of the American government in various news reports. The U.S. government wants him returned to American soil to be arrested as a spy.

To date, Snowden has sought asylum with Ecuador, which was initially open to the idea, but reportedly became less enthusiastic after a call from Vice President Joe Biden over the past weekend.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Snowden could stay there, but the condition is that he has to stop publicly spilling American secrets. Snowden has said that’s not an option, so he’s turned in applications for asylum to 20 other countries. Several have already turned him down, but Venezuela and European nations concerned about U.S. spying remain strong possibilities, according to news reports.

So, what about tribal nations? Could one of the Indian sovereign nations (as they have long been referred to by American politicians, U.More than a data storage solution for your MileWeb Storage & Backup Services,S. law, Supreme Court decisions and tribal citizens) offer asylum to Snowden?

Sure, one could, Indian legal scholars agree,we can help you with most things MileWeb Customized Dedicated Server related. but Snowden would be arrested as soon as he stepped foot on any such reservation, and the tenuous nature of tribal sovereignty would be highlighted for all the world to see.

“Practical asylum requires assurance that the U.S.property within the McMaster community is assigned to the MileWeb Security services Department. can't just snatch you up and spirit you away,” says Robert Warrior, director of American Indian Studies at the University of Illinois. “That said, a robust perspective on sovereignty suggests that asylum is something tribal nations could claim.

“Political theater would no doubt govern things, as it does with Ecuador, Cuba, Russia, and the rest. What would the world think of the U.S. barging into a building in Window Rock to take custody of Snowden?” Warrior asks. “Not that Ben Shelly [Navajo Nation president] would ever buck the system!”

Matthew Fletcher, director of the Indigenous Law & Policy Center at Michigan State University, notes the legal complexities here, saying, “Indian tribes, generally speaking,It's impossible to MileWeb Pre-build Cloud Servers templates. signed away their powers to external sovereignty in entering a treaty relationship with the United States, which is considered the so-called ‘superior sovereign’ in court cases. So tribes don't retain immunity from suit by the federal government, for example. Moreover, in instances where the ‘overriding interests of the national government’ (to quote the Supreme Court) are in play, tribal sovereignty doesn't do much.”

Fletcher’s hunch is that “rightly or wrongly, the federal government's interest in Snowden is ‘overriding.’”

Complicating matters, says Robert Williams, director of the Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Program at the University of Arizona, is that “most tribes accept their diminished sovereign status, and wouldn't know what to do or how to protect themselves in a world of sovereign nation states and a country of sovereign state governments.

“The few tribes that do choose to oppose the paradigm have enough bad things happen to them (lawsuits, and an over-bearing [Bureau of Indian Affairs]) that their radicalized leadership soon finds itself displaced by the citizens who had no idea of the costs associated with such a position,” Williams adds.

Why do tribes and the American government officials, Presidents of the United States included, talk so much about tribal sovereignty, if, in practice, it has some big limitations in real-world application?

In response to that question, Williams says he wishes that Indians, at least, would stop using what he calls the “s-word” (sovereignty). “It's a medieval French-Norman term derived from the idea the king can do no wrong and the subject holds his life and property at the will of the king,Information about the Student MileWeb Data Center Facilities and the hours of operation.” he says, calling it “a crazy Euro idea with no connection whatsoever to north American indigenous political and legal theory.

“If you read books like Gong’s The Standard of Civilization in International Society, it's clear that by definition, ‘sovereigns’ were defined by Western international law, up until the 1940s, as those entities whose political and legal structure met a test for ‘civilization’ that was intended specifically to exclude tribal societies,” Williams says. “It's an oxymoron…to link tribes and sovereignty given the historical context of the term. Most important, tribal peoples have no human right to sovereignty—they do have such a right to self-determination.”

The leptospirosis-causing bacteria normally enters

We welcome Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III’s call for the Provincial Board to release more money for better health services.

The governor said he envisioned improved performance and infrastructure in “district hospitals with inherent defects” like the undermanned Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao, his ancestral hometown.

In Cebu City, Mayor Michael Rama assured residents that he will expand the Cebu City Medical Center and build a satellite hospital in the mountain barangay of Bonbon.

The execution of these plans, if expedited, will benefit many especially those who are more vulnerable to diseases like leptospirosis, which like the mosquito-borne dengue is also prevalent this rainy season.

National news organizations reported that Cebu recorded this season’s first case of the often fatal bacterial disease that humans contract through contact with rat urine. The disease claimed five lives here back in 2009.

Last year, the Department of Health counted more than 1,500 cases of leptospirosis across the country. This year so far, one died in Iloilo City while 36 others were infected. In Davao City, the disease claimed at least five lives.

Symptoms include headaches, physical weakness and jaundice within seven to 12 days from the moment of catching the disease.

The leptospirosis-causing bacteria normally enters the human body through cuts or wounds exposed to flood waters mixed with contaminated animal, often rat urine.

Health officials have intensified their information drive against the disease, with people being warned against wading into floods or runoff rainwater.

Those who have no choice but to slosh through puddles, waterlogged roads or overflowing waterways were advised to wear protective boots.

But people especially in the cities would all be better shielded from the disease if officials get their acts together and stop flooding by overhauling the drainage system and keeping their promise to improve waste management.

Mounds of uncollected trash which end up in the waterways or swept away by floods encourage the flourishing of leptospirosis microbe-bearing rodents.

Failure to stem the cutting of trees in mountain barangays and the subjection of drainage master plans to petty political quarrels will prolong the age of flash floods in the metropolis.

If our leaders care enough, they will not let politics like the unfolding circus in the runup to the October barangay elections get in the way of development projects. They will accomplish much in flood mitigation.

The Board of Supervisors decided not to sell or lease Riverside County landfills after concluding that the risks of giving up control outweighed the benefits of potential revenue.Below is our MileWeb Privacy Policy which incorporates these goals.

The vote was 3-1, Tuesday, July 2. Supervisor Jeff Stone voted against abandoning the plan, and Supervisor Marion Ashley abstained.

County officials instead will explore using money from contracts for imported trash and a special waste management fund to raise $40 million to $60 million or more for additional jail beds. Financing jail expansions was the goal of any lease.

The county pays for landfill services through a special, self-sufficient fund that’s separate from the rest of the county budget. There are seven active and 32 inactive landfills in the county system.

Supervisors are looking at the fund, which had $154 million in reserves as of February, as they try to come up with ways to add to the county’s 3,906 jail beds. Almost 7,000 jail inmates last year were let go early to relieve crowding, and more early releases are expected this year. Our Managed MileWeb Private Cloud and Virtual Dedicated Servers.

Sheriff’s officials say this has led to more crime.

Officials say the county can charge itself rent from its waste management fund and spend that money on the jails. Leasing landfill operations to a private firm was another money-making idea.

But officials warned that a landfill lease would be a complex transaction that could cost $3 million to $5 million before any contract is signed. If not done properly, a lease could lead to higher trash rates for residents and hurt competition among waste haulers, according to a county staff report.

Supervisors were asked Tuesday to authorize $250,000 for contracts with a law firm and a consultant as a precursor to seeking bids from potential landfill operators.Managed MileWeb Cloud Hosting and cloud management services. But Supervisor John Tavaglione made it clear he didn’t want to go that far.

“Philosophically, I just don’t agree with this,” he said.

Supervisor Kevin Jeffries said he worried that a lease could bring unintended consequences such as higher rates, and that there are other ways to get revenue that would allow the county to keep control of its landfills.Find business contact information and media MileWeb Contact Us By Phone,

Supervisor John Benoit said he questioned the point of spending $250,000 on consultants when the county likely won’t get the answer it’s looking for. He said he’s skeptical a private company would want any part of the landfill system, given $145 million in projected liabilities for cleaning up and closing landfills.

Stone said a request for proposals from companies interested in the landfills shouldn’t cost $250,000.comprehensive MileWeb Operating System Software helps you integrate and optimize physical and virtual environments, And he said any lease would have to preserve the current trash rates and not leave the county holding the bag for liabilities.

Stone urged his colleagues not to completely give up on leasing.

“We need to open all doors to revenue generation,” he said, adding that traditional sources of revenue aren’t enough to pay for new jails.

The board’s vote was a relief to union representatives who attended Tuesday’s hearing.

County waste management employee Art Fuentes said his colleagues were stressed out by the possibility of losing their jobs if a lease was signed. The county’s waste management workers are extremely efficient and a private operator would only be concerned about maximizing profits, he said.

when I went down to my parking space

Tomato fights, anarchic gymnasts and astrophysics drew festival-goers of all ages away from the mainstream music acts at Britain's Glastonbury festival this weekend.

The 1,500 hippies who paid one pound (NZ$1.95) to attend the first Glastonbury festival in 1970 would barely recognise the massive three-day event, where around 150,000 fans were watching 2000 acts on 58 stages, alongside thousands of workshops and stalls.Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant.

The Rolling Stones, who were headlining the festival on Saturday for the first time in their 50-year career, were guaranteed to draw a huge audience, but many preferred to seek out the smaller venues and avoid the heaving crowds.

"I'm usually not so into the huge stages. I like the ones that are more intimate," said Sean-Tastic, one half of the Irish dance and comedy duo Lords of Struts.

With their farcical gymnastics routine,Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant. the neon lycra-clad pair drew an enthusiastic crowd to an outdoor stage in the festival's Cabaret area.

Dancing in silence was the theme of one of the festival's late-night events.Find great deals on eBay for stainless steel bracelet Bracelet in Fashion Jewelry Bracelets. After dark, a sprawling 900-acre site transformed into a pulsating strobe-lit playground where revelers dance to music played on flashing headphones.

Another nocturnal venue, the Shangri-La area, adopted a heaven and hell theme, offering golden wristbands and entry to a mud-free haven to those approved by the Desk of Judgment.

The Latin-themed Common area, where staff stalked around dressed as the dead, was due to host a tomato fight on Sunday, imitating the annual Tomatina festival in eastern Spain.

Less messy activities included getting a novelty hairstyle.

"I get a bit bored by some of the things on the main stages," said Flo Lipin, 35, as she queued outside a caravan called "Total Eclipse of the Head" for a haircut themed on music styles of the music of the 1970s, '80s or '90s.

"The smaller things are more interesting - and sillier."

For those who agreed with Stones front man Mick Jagger that rock'n'roll can be "intellectually undemanding", celebrity astrophysicist Brian Cox was due to talk about the mysteries of the universe and veteran protest singer Billy Bragg was debating politics and feminism in the Left Field tent.

With the average age of Glastonbury revellers now hitting 36 and more families attending, there were also family-friendly attractions such as a circus and clay modelling.

Craft-minded festival-goers could choose between workshops on making Mongolian-style tents, magic wands, or jewellery out of drink-can ring-pulls.

"The wonderful thing about Glastonbury is that I feel so safe here and it is great for families," said Nancy Laws, 35,Discover the durable and attractive tungsten bracelet. at the festival with her 3-year-old son Joshua and 10-month-old daughter Amelie. "There is a really relaxed vibe."

My first bike was stolen from the secure underground garage of my boutique condo building in the heart of trendy, upscale Yorkville. Sure enough, when I went down to my parking space, my bike was gone. The surveillance camera caught the entire caper, as a hoodie on a bike got through the secure garage doors by tailgating a resident’s car. The concierge called the police and reported a break-in, and soon a cruiser pulled up. Two constables emerged, their demeanour changing from curiosity to a less-veneered, resigned indifference as they realized they’d responded to a bike theft, not a jewellery heist from my penthouse safe.

who scored the only second-half try after a concerted

Nelson College's opponents will have to work hard for their tries for the remainder of this year's Press Cup secondary schools rugby competition.

Nelson reminded everyone of their admirable defensive qualities in Saturday's 27-13 win over Christ's College in Nelson to help kick-start their top-eight series on a positive note.

Nelson's three-tries-to-one advantage had them clearly ahead on the scoreboard and within a hair's breadth of a crucial try-scoring bonus point.

But nine second-half penalties seriously dented their attacking rhythm and forced them into a defensive mode for large portions of the spell as Christ's tried everything in their means to breach the home team's line.

It was a measure of Nelson's defensive commitment that Christ's never scored another point after halftime. It was Nelson substitute lock Grayson Knapp who scored the only second-half try after a concerted buildup on Christ's line with around 12 minutes remaining.Quality Fashion Forward wholesale women shoes sold by the case for your stores and boutiques.

First-half tries by fullback Jacob Whitaker, after an impressive tackle-busting sideline break by wing Quade Dearman, and to halfback Reece Fuller, again from pressure on Christ's line following a charged down kick, selection of wholesale fashion shoes such as sandals. had helped push Nelson out to a 17-3 lead.

However, a late try to Christ's wing Tom Macfarlane from a turnover and disorganised defence helped reduce the margin to just four points at the break.Quality Brand Name tungsten ring and Tungsten Wedding Bands for Men.

Trailing 20-13 soon after the restart, Christ's appeared to re-ignite their challenge when wing Nick Hutchison crossed in the 14th minute only to find the assistant referee had his flag raised for a lineout 60m down the field.

It was a critical moment in the contest as continual Nelson infringements and a dogged Christ's forward pack kept up the pressure.

The difference was Nelson's ability to capitalise on limited opportunities, with Knapp's late try helping to ease a lot of tension.

Hooker Brendan Asomua-Goodman shrugged off a shoulder injury to play another significant role up front, complemented by the efforts of flanker Te Puoho Stephens, No 8 Larry Banse and lock Quinten Strange.

Nelson were also thankful for the goalkicking of midfielder Finn Hart-Strawbridge; he missed only one of six attempts in another fine individual display.

Although ultimately effective, Nelson's defence was occasionally tested by Christ's first five-eighth Damian McKenzie's sniping running, with big prop Matthew Henry also a threat up front.

Waimea College conceded the lead then had to rely on two late tries to beat Burnside High School 27-24 in a bottom-eight clash in Christchurch.

Two well-conceived tries by wing Jake Berthelsen, with No 10 Levi McPherson and centre Fletcher Matthews involved in both, gave Waimea a 12-3 lead at the break. A Jack Gauld penalty stretched their lead to 15-3 early in the second half before the home team eventually snatched a 24-15 advantage after fighting back with less than 10 minutes remaining.

With Burnside's forwards maintaining pressure through their effective pick-and-go tactics, Waimea were denied the ball for much of the second half as the home team piled on three tries.

Prop Hamish Le Comte eventually helped reduce the margin to 24-22 with Waimea's third try after Waimea finally managed to string some phases together.

While many of the largest and most notable Pride rallies

Gay Pride weekend festivities are rarely understated, but after the Supreme Court’s decisions last week, marches and rallies all over the country were expected to be especially celebratory this year.

Pride weekend generally occurs at the end of June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, in which the gay community exploded against a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, in New York City on June 28, 1969.

After the Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday to overturn DOMA, granting legally married same-sex couples the same federal benefits as their heterosexual counterparts, and to let "Prop. 8" die, resuming the legalization of gay marriage in California, the festive atmosphere surrounding Pride events has been ramped up several notches.

While many of the largest and most notable Pride rallies and parties occur in New York, San Francisco and Chicago, smaller but equally colorful celebrations were set to take place in Seattle, St. Louis, Cleveland and other cities throughout the U.S. and around the globe.

Although the first gay pride march was in New York, in forty-plus years, pride events have spread throughout the world. The Paris pride march also had a duel celebration purpose on Saturday, marking the one month anniversary of France’s first gay marriage. Simultaneously, LGBT groups and supporters marched in Spain, Portugal and Mexico. Canada, Sweden,The smart card has a memory chip embedded in it that, and Finland held parades on Sunday.

Signs along the route read, "Thank you, Edie" — celebrating Windsor for her successful challenge of a provision of DOMA that defined marriage as between a man and a woman.

"If somebody had told me 15 years ago that I would be the marshal of New York City's gay pride parade in 2013, at the age of 84, I wouldn't have believed it," said Windsor.

Singer Harry Belafonte and activist Earl Fowlkes, both equality and civil rights advocates, wijoin her in leading the two-mile march down New York's famed Fifth Avenue from Midtown to the historic Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village.

“LGBT rights are expanding across the country and these individuals embody the soul of a movement far from over,a high quality women shoes supplier including high heel shoes,Quality Brand Name tungsten ring and Tungsten Wedding Bands for Men.” organizers NYC Pride said in statement.

The NYPD this year increased plain-clothes patrol to deal with problems that may occur before and after the parade, officials said. The additional surveillance is in response not only to expected record-breaking crowds but also the deadly shooting of a gay man that took place just a month ago in the area that Pride-goers are set to congregate.

While the parade marks the peak of excitement in New York, marchers may have trouble trumpinselection of wholesale fashion shoes such as sandals.g the grandeur of her surprise appearance and performance of her pride-centric “Star-Spangled Banner” including the line, “Oh, say does that flag of pride yet wave.Shop the best selection of men's stainless steel ring."

Although New York's Stonewall sparked gay pride marches, San Francisco is equally famous for its gay community, and also boasts a large and colorful pride weekend. According to NBCBayarea, San Francisco’s police chief expects over 1.5 million people to attend the parade.

"Even though the World Series was huge, this could quite possibly be larger in light of the decision that just came down from the Supreme Court — but it will be just as happy as the World Series," Police Chief Greg Suhr said. Police presence has also been bolstered in San Francisco to keep musical performances, rallies and the parade enjoyable and safe.

There are few things as quintessentially West Coast (not to mention cute) as the image of a fresh-faced, ocean-loving, wellie-wearing jewellery designer frolicking on Jericho Beach—except maybe the image of a fresh-faced, ocean-loving, wellie-wearing jewellery designer frolicking on Jericho Beach with her identical twin sister. Which is probably why Heather and Karen Hendry’s promo video is getting so many hits on Indiegogo.com, a crowd-sourcing site that helps people raise money for specific projects.

Unfortunately, though, hits don’t necessarily translate into dollars, and these adorable-as-hell former womb mates are hoping to take their karenjess jewellery line to the next level with a bigger studio and better tools.

As it stands now, Karen, the primary designer, is renting out a small shared space and borrowing many of her tools from friends and mentors. But despite their limited resources, the karenjess brass and silver seashore-inspired pieces are beautiful. Nature lovers will adore them! That’s why the Straight recently caught up with Karen at a local cafe to talk about their campaign, which ends at midnight on Thursday (June 27).

“I never really had seasons or even lines, really,” admits Karen, who started out as a self-taught hobbyist several years ago. “It was just like I would introduce a piece whenever I felt like it.”

Not anymore. The long-term goal Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant.is to turn karenjess into a full-time gig for her and Heather, who handles the business end of things and currently lives in Tofino. With that in mind, the sibs are officially relaunching on July 19 with two different fully realized collections.

The first is Washed Up, a core collection of various shells that Karen casts into solid silver and bronze pendants. In terms of selection, there’s more than enough to choose from here.

“My collection is massive, ratings of Electricity monitor so you can find the best energy monitor.” says Karen. “I’ve collected shells ever since I can remember—just on every vacation,Shop Stately Steel Circle Drop Chandelier stainless steel necklace, I’d either be on the beach or I’d want to be on the beach.Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant. I guess I’m just drawn to the ocean.”

One of the top sellers in this signature line is the silver Tofino clam-shell pendant attached to a long silver chain ($126). Another standout is the spiralled seashell pendant from Cox Bay, which Karen designed specifically for the Rip Curl Pro Tofino women’s trophy necklace—fitting, with Heather and Karen both passionate about ocean conservation and surf culture. (Did I mention these twins are cute as hell?)

The other collection is the Deep Cove line, a nod to their childhood digs. For these pieces, Karen didn’t have much luck finding whole seashells. So instead, she worked with bits of drift wood and pebbles from the area.

Highlights here include the silver bangles with bronze and silver rock-shaped charms (from $95 each). As well, the bronze bark pendant (from $65) is a standout layering piece.

In addition to a better workspace, Heather and Karen are planning on using their Indiegogo capital to compensate their marketing staff with something other than free swag.

“Everyone’s local and insanely talented,” says Karen, referring to the web designers, photographers, and all the other peeps pitching in to help relaunch karenjess. “They all wanted to help and be a part of it, and they’re willing to do it just because they want to... Or for jewellery, but ultimately, we want to be able to pay these people.”

The highest counts were in the micro

Three of the five Great Lakes—Huron, Superior and Erie—are awash in plastic. But it's not the work of a Christo-like landscape artist covering the waterfront. Rather, small plastic beads, known as micro plastic, are the offenders, according to survey results to be published this summer in Marine Pollution Bulletin. "The highest counts were in the micro plastic category, less than a millimeter in diameter," explained chemist Sherri "Sam" Mason of the State University of New York at Fredonia,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape. who led the Great Lakes plastic pollution survey last July. "Under the scanning electron microscope, many of the particles we found were perfectly spherical plastic balls."

Cosmetics manufacturers use these micro beads, or micro exfoliates, as abrasives in facial and body scrubs. They are too tiny for water treatment plants to filter, so they wash down the drain and into the Great Lakes. The biggest worry: fish such as yellow perch or turtles and seagulls think of them as dinner. If fish or birds eat the inert beads, the material can deprive them of nutrients from real food or get lodged in their stomachs or intestines, blocking digestive systems.this aluminum foil tape is not affected by moisture.

In early April, at the 245th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society in New Orleans, chemist Lorena Rios of the University of Wisconsin–Superior, announced that her team found 1,we know the value of kapton tape.500 to 1.7 million plastic particles per square mile (2.5 square kilometers) in the lakes, with the highest concentration in Lake Erie. Rios is collaborating on the study with Mason and 5 Gyres Institute, a Los Angeles-based research group studying garbage patches in five subtropical gyres in the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern oceans.

Typically, the oceans contain a higher percentage of debris in the one- to five-millimeter-diameter size, whereas, for unknown reasons, the three Great Lakes the team studied have a higher concentration, approximately 85 percent, of micro plastics measuring less than one millimeter in diameter.

Rios did not find any plastic in the fish samples she tested, but they were all from Lake Superior,You'll find a number of top quality RFID tag suppliers. which has less of a problem because of the way water flows through the lakes. "Lake Superior had a little less plastic than Lake Huron, which was far less than Lake Erie," Rios says. "So, it will be really interesting to see [this summer] if the counts in Lake Ontario [downstream from Erie] are even higher."

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Fairport Fisheries Research Station has found plastic in yellow perch during their ongoing diet-analysis studies, according to Rios. Although they have not published any data about plastic in the fish guts, they will begin sending fish to her for analysis. "This summer, we're going to look for the presence of plastics in the diet, and if we find any, send it to Dr. Rios to confirm the type of polymers in the plastics," confirms fish biologist Ann Marie Gorman of the Fairport Harbor Fish Research Unit.

Rios's background includes studying plastic debris and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the Pacific garbage patch. Her chemical analysis of the Lake Erie samples revealed varying levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), the product of incomplete combustion usually found near steel mill coking plants or from burning wood or petroleum products. In the mix was also polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and other organochlorides such as the potent and poisonous insecticide DDT.You'll find a number of top quality ear cap suppliers. PCBs were used in electric transformers and motors, until Congress banned them from production in 1979 because of their ability to cause cancer in humans.

Rios reports that the bits of plastic, essentially "solid oil," absorb the chemicals like a sponge. The concentration of PAHs in Lake Erie is twice as high as that in the Atlantic because the ocean’s size dilutes the little pellets.

Sister Prema prayed for the children

He said Sister Prema, the head of the Worldwide Order of Missionaries charity and successor of Mother Teresa – who Norman met nine times between 1989 and 1997 – invited him to the Vatican in recognition of his charity work.

Norman, 68,Although Double sided nonwoven tape Products carriers are generally quite thin, who lives with wife Cathy, 62, in the Edenhill area of Peterlee, described the experience as “all quite mind-blowing”.

Norman also recently attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace,Full service promotional company specializing in Custom USB flash drives. in honour of his work with the Shishu Bhavan orphanage in Calcutta, run by Mother Teresa’s order.

He has forged close links between the orphanage and Acre Rigg Academy, in Peterlee, having collected many aid parcels from the school over the past 15 years.

Norman, a parent helper at the school, said during both of his recent prestigious visits, the youngsters received high praise from officials, including Princess Anne.

Former midwife Norman said: “Sister Prema prayed for the children and she said it was so nice to think that these children had never seen the orphans, yet they still helped them.

“It was the real cherry on the cake. Then she said she had another surprise for me – I got to meet Pope Francis. I kissed the Pope’s ring and he blessed me.

“It was so nice that the children were recognised – this is what it’s all about, the children of the world.

“I have been very lucky to have made so many visits.Find a variety of monolayer protective film Products.”

The dad-of-three and grandfather-of-four met John Paul II six times in the 1990s and met Pope Francis’ predecessor in April last year.

On May 30, Norman and Cathy attended a Royal Garden Party where he was among thousands of other community stalwarts.

During a recent visit to the school he told the Acre Rigg pupils about his experiences, and how Princess Anne had “given encouragement” to Acre Rigg pupils.

“Princess Anne has actually visited the Shishu Bhavan orphanage and she said to pass on to all the children in the school a message of ‘keep up the good work’,” he said.

Norman has previously told how praying with Mother Teresa helped cure him of the paranoid schizophrenia and manic depression.

Every silent, creeping step on the dusty terrain feels like we’re dicing with death. We’ve abandoned the safety of the safari jeep in search of rare white lions and the ranger’s tracking signal has revealed they’re a little too close for comfort. We stop in our tracks as our ranger points out the lioness and her male cubs, grazing on a kill.

Then they spot us. Two inquisitive furballs curiously peek through the overgrown grass, while the female lion gazes at us as we marvel at the family scene that feels like something straight out of a David Attenborough documentary.

The dig uncovered tens of thousands of pieces of pottery

"It's nearly unique in California, being as early as it is. It's one of the first properties related to the industrial revolution in California," said John Dietler, lead archaeologist for the project.

Spain built 21 Roman Catholic missions in California during its colonization in the 18th and 19th centuries. Many relied on ditches to bring water from rivers, springs or creeks.

"The story of the European colonization of Southern California really hinges around the control of water," Dietler said.

The San Gabriel Mission, about nine miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles, was a wealthy community that had thousands of cattle and acres of wheat, barley and corn, tended by native labor.

"Most modern historians consider it to be forced labor," Dietler said. "They entered the missions voluntarily, typically, but then they weren't allowed to leave."

Enter an apprentice shipwright from Boston named Joseph Chapman, who was captured with a pirate crew that was raiding coastal ranchos. Imprisoned in the Santa Barbara area, he was freed after converting to Catholicism, marrying a Spaniard and becoming a builder, Dietler said.

Chapman designed and oversaw construction of a New England-style grist mill for the San Gabriel Mission, a device that was "revolutionary for its time and place," Dietler said.

Built by native labor and completed in 1823, it channeled water from San Gabriel Valley foothill springs.Find great deals on eBay for stainless steel bangle Bracelet in Fashion Jewelry Bracelets. Closed in 1834 under Mexico's rule, the mission deteriorated for years before it was returned to the church. The remains of the mill were bulldozed for a housing development in the 1940s, although its foundations remain under a street,we not only have a large collection of stainless steel bracelet supplier products, Dietler said.

In 1998, San Gabriel Valley governments formed the Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority to renovate rail lines in the region to reduce traffic congestion. Plans included lowering rail lines into a 30-foot trench near the mission.

An archaeological survey of the route began in 2009. At the time,Shop huge inventory of Car Phone holder Charger, the only trace of the millrace was "a couple of rocks sticking out of the ground and some bushes," Dietler said.

The dig uncovered tens of thousands of pieces of pottery, beads, cow bones and other artifacts, along with the millrace. Once several hundred feet long, only 30 feet had survived. Twenty feet could be saved but it required government funding and heavy-moving specialists.

"I've never done anything like this before," Dietler said. "You can pick up an artifact pretty easily but not this 30,000-pound foundation."

Dietler said the artifact may remind visitors of the efforts of Spanish, Native Americans - and one New Englander.

"These three cultures came together to build this thing that really helped out their community," Dietler said.

Prosecutor Jessica Cooper had refused to negotiate a plea deal for Tucker Cipriano, despite requests from his family, the station reports. The family reportedly did not want to relive the brutal crime in court.

According to the station, the 20-year-old placed a string of rosary beads around his neck as the hearing began Monday.

Also Monday, Assistant Prosecutor John Skrzynski read testimony from Cipriano's sister, 8-year-old Isabella Cipriano, who allegedly witnessed the attack. Tucker Cipriano reportedly fidgeted as the statement was read.

"So I woke up and I went downstairs and I saw this boy pounding my mom with a bat, and Tucker was there,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. too," the statement read. "Tucker said to go back upstairs, but I didn't. I got my bat -- I was trying to get Tucker --but then Tucker took my bat and started to pound [Salvatore] and my mom with the other kid."

Judge Shalina Kumar accepted Cipriano's plea and scheduled sentencing for July 9.

Mitchell Young has proceeded to trial. On Thursday, 20-year-old Ian Zinderman, a friend of the accused pair who is testifying in an exchange for immunity from prosecution, told the jury that Cipriano and Young plotted for weeks to kill the Cipriano family.

According to Zinderman, the goal of the attack was to kill everyone and steal money and cars to buy drugs. He reportedly said the pair had debated between the Ciprianos and another local family before deciding the Cipriano's had more wealth.

CBS Detroit reports Zinderman testified that Cipriano and Young picked "assignments" on which family members to kill.

"Young was supposed to take the parents and Cipriano was supposed to take his brothers," he reportedly said in court.

Zinderman also reportedly spoke about Cipriano not wanting to kill his 8-year-old sister and said Young suggested that he would handle it.Shop the wholesale stainless steel bangle on the world's largest fashion.

"[Tucker] loved his sister more than anything in the world," Zinderman reportedly testified.

According to the station, Zinderman was with Cipriano and Young just hours before the murder. He reportedly told the pair that he wanted no part in the plan.

"They wanted me to dispose of the bodies and drive the getaway car. They wanted me to dump [the bodies] into the Detroit River and weigh them down with barrels of some sort," Zinderman reportedly testified.
