Social gifting has splintered into a number of niches

Buying a birthday present for a friend? Forget the wrapping paper and bow. This is the age of social gifting, and all you need is a Facebook account and mobile application.

The latest buzz in e-commerce is a new category of business that lets people give gifts on social networks or through texting or email. Text a relative a digital gift card to say happy birthday — no last-minute trips to the post office necessary.

Dozens of social-gifting companies have cropped up since 2011, promising to make giving gifts easier for consumers and drive more sales for retailers. And it’s not just a startup fad; Facebook and Amazon each launched gifting features last year.

“It’s been a land rush in the gift-giving space,” said John Poisson, founder and chief executive of online gift-giving service Wantful. “This is a massive business opportunity.”

But some say the fad will be short-lived. The reason people like giving and receiving gifts, critics say, is the excitement of unwrapping something and the personal connection of a meaningful exchange.

“Gifting hasn’t proven itself in any meaningful way,” said Sucharita Mulpuru, a retail analyst with Forrester Research. “I don’t think that anyone is giving this in lieu of real gifts in-person."

Social gifting has splintered into a number of niches as companies stake out their place in an increasingly crowded landscape.capacity washer extractor provides greater productivity through enhanced mechanical action, Some apps send digital gift cards, while others let you buy goods — anything from a 5-pound bag of gummy bears to lingerie — and have them delivered from your smartphone. There are apps offering free coupons to post to a friend on Facebook and others that let you buy a friend a beer.

Social-gifting companies might have found a sweet spot among online and mobile consumers looking for convenient and instantaneous ways to check that gift off their to-do list.

“I can wish my friends a happy birthday and give a gift in one fell swoop,” said San Francisco Bay area resident April Wall.

Liora Avitan said social-gifting companies are more aligned with consumers’ shopping habits.manufacturer and supplier of industrial washing machine. Without malls or shopping centers near her New York City apartment, she wants the convenience of buying gifts from her laptop or phone.

She relies on Wrapp’s automated birthday notifications — the app is synched with Facebook — to remind her when to buy for her friends and family.

Wrapp’s digital gift cards can be downloaded for free, and most are worth $10 or less. The gift cards can be sent through Facebook, email or text, and recipients keep the card in a digital wallet on their phone but have to redeem it in the store.

Aaron Forth, the company’s global chief operating officer, said that shoppers tend to spend more money than the amount on the gift card once they’re in the store.

Nanci Booher of Portland, Ore., said she exchanges Wrapp gift cards with her son and daughter. They post them on each other’s Facebook pages, and she takes her kids shopping for school clothes and video games.

The last try of the half went to winger Josh Mantellato

A brave and battered Sea Eagles side was unfortunate to lose to a last minute try from the Newcastle Knights last Saturday at Brookvale Oval.

Manly were first on the board when teenage debutant Zach Nicholls placed a well-weighted cross field kick into the hands of winger Michael Chapman, who crossed in the corner to take the score to 6-0.The oldest bobble head provider - original handmade custom bobbleheads Head dolls made to look like the photo you provide to us.

Newcastle leveled the scores in the 10th minute when halfback Adrian Davis showed a good turn of speed to break the line and veer around the fullback to score under the black dot.

Manly set the deficit back out to six points with another converted try when a cut out ball from Nicholls found Jackson Williams on the overlap, who avoided the Knights winger to score Manly’s second.Do travelers need a chip card when exploring Europe?

No more than five minutes later, Sea Eagle’s five-eighth Kayse Greer put on a devastating right foot step to score just right of the posts. Chapman again converted to give Manly a strong 18 – 6 lead.

The last try of the half went to winger Josh Mantellato, who took a spectacular one-handed catch off a cross-field kick to send the players into the sheds at half-time with an 18 -10 score line in favour of Manly.

Five minutes into the second half, Mantellato had his second when his opposite winger Chapman let the ball bounce in the in goal, allowing for a contest in the air which eventually lead to a loose ball which Mantellato dived on to score.

The story of the day however, was Manly’s injury toll. After coming within a whisker of scoring, Steve Tavita went down with what looked like a neck injury, forcing Manly to proceed with not one person on the bench after Vasek, Ikuvalu and Tonga all went off previously.

It became even worse for Manly coach Luke Williamson, who was forced to remove Justin Lemalu from the field late in the game, asking his players to hold on with only twelve men on the field.

The pressure became too much for the injury-ravaged side, when Newcastle number 6 Will Smith charged onto an up-for-grabs ball that had just came out the back of his interchange forward Dylan Smith.Enjoy oil painting reproduction reproductions of famous masterpieces painted by the skilled.

The Sea Eagles were not happy with the call, believing that the ball flew out forwards but the result remained unchanged; Newcastle defeating a gallant Manly in the final minute to seal a Round 10 victory, 22-18.

Manly will be at home once again in Round 11 when they play host to Mounties while the Knights make the trip across the Tasman to face the Vulcans.

In this week’s live televised game the Cronulla Sharks maintained their 100% win record with a 28-12 over a gritty Illawarra Cutters side.

The Sharks led only lead 12-6 at half time but ran away with the game during the second 40 scoring an additional three tries. As always halves Finch and Towsend played well for the Sharks but man of the match honours went to fullback Nathan Gardner who put in a strong attacking performance in his first game back form a hamstring injury.

Later that afternoon the Wests Tigers and Newtown did battle at Leichhardt with the Jets emerging victorious 30-26. The Tigers took the early initiative shooting out to a 20-6 lead at half time after tries to Naiyaravoro, Iosefa and a double to Luke Brooks. However, the second half belonged to the Jets who scored four tries to one to claim first bragging rights over their local rivals. Saulala Houma was strong for the Bluebags scoring two tries, while Paul Rokolati also contributed a try and five goals.

At Brookvale Oval Newcastle scored their fourth win in succession with a narrow 22-18 victory over the Sea Eagles. Manly started strongly and held an 18-10 advantage at the break. However,Guaranteed lowest wholesale pricing on branded promotional USB flash drives wholesale. the Knights fought hard in the second half scoring two more tries while holding Manly scoreless. Knights winger Josh Mantanello continued his point scoring exploits scoring two tries and kicking three goals.

A week after their courageous win over Auckland, the Wyong Roos came crashing back to earth last Sunday with a 55-16 loss to a red hot Wentworthville side at Morry Breen Oval. Boosted by the inclusion of experienced first grade campaigners like Ben Roberts, Ben Smith and Ryan Morgan, the Magpies ran riot racking up ten tries, including a hat trick to Brayden Williame, to completely stun the Roos’ faithful.

Mounties three game winning streak came to an abrupt end at Centrebet Stadium after they were crushed 48-6 by Windsor. The Wolves were in control throughout, racing to a 22-0 lead by halftime and they had scored twice before winger Shannon Chapman scored Mounties’ lone try off a quick tap. Young back rower Vaipuna Tia Kalifi continued to assert himself as a star of the future, scoring two tries for the Wolves.

At Belmore the Bulldogs scored their first win since Round Two with an exciting 38-30 win over the Auckland Vulcans. The home side were well served by back rower Paul Carter who contributed two tries in the upset win.Shop wholesale silicone bracelet Usb Flash Drive from cheap.

To make sure celebs will show up

If you are Nathalie Dubois, and run the DPA Lounge, a high-end gifting suite at the Cannes Film Festival, the answer is, among other things, reversible jeans by Bleulab, stretch leather fashion by Pascal Piveteau, organic eyelash nourishment from Padina, and nine nights of free lodging at three exclusive resorts in and around Bora Bora.

If you are one of five lucky celebrities, you also get a Jean Richard watch that retails for about $6,000.

"Keanu Reeves and Adrien Brody are coming in to get theirs,Enjoy oil painting reproduction reproductions of famous masterpieces painted by the skilled." Dubois told FOX411 at the DPA Lounge set up inside the insanely luxurious Cartlon Hotel in Cannes, France. The oldest bobble head provider - original handmade custom bobbleheads Head dolls made to look like the photo you provide to us. "And Sharon Stone gets one too if she comes. I haven't figured out who gets the last two."

There will be no shortage of celebs to choose from. Dubois first set up shop in Cannes in 2005. Born in France, but a Los Angeles resident for the past 26 years, ("I told my mother I am more American now than French, she was so upset") Dubois said was the first to bring the Hollywood gifting craze overseas.

To make sure celebs will show up, Dubois hand delivers 500 RSVP cards in April after she has a good idea which stars will be coming in for the festival. She then gathers brands she thinks the rich and famous will want to see, and brands who want to up their celebrity quotient.

Pascal Piveteau, designer of the eponymous stretchy leather line, recently left 20 years running a big time fashion house to start his own line. His first fashion show was this January at Hong Kong Fashion Week. He sees Dubois' suite at Cannes as the perfect opportunity to take his brand recognition to the next level.

"I would be proud to start a relationship with movie stars," he told us. "So I can share my passion with them."

Dubois may have been one of the first to bring the LA gift suite to Cannes, but she's not the last.Guaranteed lowest wholesale pricing on branded promotional USB flash drives wholesale. So why do brands like these – we saw about 40-50 at these two suites alone -- pay companies like DPA and GBK big bucks for the opportunity to give their products away to some of the few people rich enough to actually buy them?

"You can't pay Justin Timberlake what it would cost to endorse your $1,000 watch. It would cost what, half a million?" Keilly said. "So if you can gift him your watch, and he is photographed and seen wearing it. That is priceless."

Keilly acknowledged that giving expensive gifts to well-off celebs does sound a little … off. “The rich get richer, right?” he said. To help counteract that, Keilly says he gives 20 percent of all profits to charity.Shop wholesale silicone bracelet Usb Flash Drive from cheap.

"We have given over $2 million since I started the company," he told us. "It's important that we give back."

One of his gifting partners, the nonprofit liver cancer group HOPE, agrees. The founder, Suzanne Lindley, a cancer survivor, wants to spread her message that those with cancer can never give up. One way she thought to do that is to offer celebrities a free Kindle if they send her a photo of themselves with her signature word “HOPE” written in the sand.

They affirmed Cuccinelli as their new gubernatorial

Ken Cuccinelli and Virginia’s Republican Party ticket heading into the state’s November bellwether elections couldn’t have imagined how the headlines that vexed them a week ago could unite and galvanize the party in a few short days.

The freshly minted Republican gubernatorial nominee had been taking weeks of bruising headlines about his and Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell’s ties to troubled nutritional supplements manufacturer Star Scientific Inc. At issue were gifts — some unreported — that Star Scientific’s chief executive lavished on both men amid federal and state investigations into the company and the Executive Mansion’s kitchen operations.

Each day’s headlines bore more discouraging news for a GOP still healing from a thrashing in the 2012 election in which President Barack Obama carried Virginia for the second time in a row and fellow Democrat Tim Kaine spoiled Republican former Sen. George Allen’s comeback bid and ended Allen’s career in elective politics.

The real kick to the stomach for the GOP’s tea party base came when McDonnell signed this year’s transportation funding reform bill that became his legislative legacy. The new law, which will generate nearly $900 million more annually for the state’s 58,000-mile web of highways, had eluded governors for at least a dozen years.Guaranteed lowest wholesale pricing on branded promotional USB flash drives wholesale. But conservatives denounced it as the largest tax increase in Virginia history and a betrayal of the faith they’d put in him four years earlier.

“After this session,Due to South West Windpower's new policy we can only ship to certified skystream installers. our base was pretty demoralized because we raised taxes with the transportation bill,” said Del. Ben Cline, R-Rockingham, one of the bill’s most avid House opponents. An adverse ruling by Cuccinelli on the legislature’s adjournment day, done at Cline’s request, nearly derailed the bill.

One after another, national headlines enraged the conservatives who now dominate Virginia’s Republican Party. By Saturday’s statewide Republican convention, the week’s news had affirmed their darkest Big Brother conspiracy nightmares and galvanized them behind Cuccinelli, who became a tea party hero by aggressively challenging Obama’s 2010 healthcare reforms and taking on the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Internal Revenue Service really had picked on the tea party. Government documents revealed that the tax-collecting agency conservatives despise above all others had stonewalled, frustrated and delayed applications by tea party groups to become tax-exempt organizations.Find the perfect luggage tag and you'll always find your luggage!

E-mails released by the White House into its response to last fall’s deadly raid on the U.S. consulate in Libya raised more questions by Republicans in Congress than they answered.

The Justice Department, it turns out, had covertly collected records of telephone calls made by editors and reporters of The Associated Press as it investigated how the global news cooperative obtained information about how a terrorist attack plot had been foiled.

And, as if anti-abortion activists needed a rallying cause, a Philadelphia abortion doctor was convicted of murder in several grisly late-term abortions.

Repeatedly, those were easy applause lines for conservative speakers who served up red meat for thousands of delegates who spent Saturday inside the ancient, hulking Richmond Coliseum. They affirmed Cuccinelli as their new gubernatorial nominee and choose state Sen. Mark Obenshain and Chesapeake minister E.W. Jackson as their nominees for attorney general and lieutenant governor, respectively.

“I don’t think those things just affect the conservative base,Shop wholesale silicone bracelet Usb Flash Drive from cheap.” Cuccinelli said Saturday, relaxing with his wife Tiero in his ready room off the floor of the sports arena. “When we get big federal issues like the IRS, everybody feels that.”

He’s right. Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives alike opened fire at the IRS last week in Washington and in Virginia, where it instantly became grist for the nation’s only competitive gubernatorial race between Cuccinelli and former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, a protege of his party’s Clinton family.

“They were going after folks like us and it’s solidified people in the party and made them see that either we hang together or we hang separately,” said Joshua Wilberger,The oldest bobble head provider - original handmade custom bobbleheads Head dolls made to look like the photo you provide to us. a 30-year-old delegate from Edenburg who sported a yellow sticker on his shirt featuring the likeness of a coiled snake and the Revolutionary War credo: “Don’t Tread on Me.”

“I didn’t think this administration would stoop this low, but obviously I was wrong,” he said, referring to the Obama White House and the Democrats he can’t wait to challenge this year.

Cuccinelli had been looking for a way to put the Democrats on the defensive and push into the background thorny and lingering questions about his ties to Star Scientific and the more than $18,000 in gifts from the company — the subject of three shareholders’ lawsuits and a federal securities investigation — and its CEO, Jonnie Williams.

The past week’s headlines and sentiments of supporters like Wilberger help him do just that. For Cuccinelli, who became a hero to conservatives nationally as the first state attorney general to challenge Obama’s 2010 federal health care reform law in federal court, this is right in his wheelhouse. He smiled and stretched his cowboy-booted legs at the thought of it.

“Obviously, we get to focus on those issues in Virginia in a way that can redirect that energy,” he said. “And, as you know, I’ve been fighting the federal government for a long, long time.”

With the theme music of the movie "The Natural" playing over the loudspeakers, the teens trotted out before a throng of media to model the new Hillsboro Hops uniforms.

But for one memorable day last week,Due to South West Windpower's new policy we can only ship to certified skystream installers. the uniforms were worn by Hillsboro senior Lauden Lausey, Glencoe senior Brandon Dunn and Century senior Brad Bennett.

Bennett added: "It was kind of overwhelming.Shop wholesale silicone bracelet Usb Flash Drive from cheap. I'll never forget this."

The uniform fashion show was the latest reminder that professional baseball will soon return to the metro area after a three-year absence.

Hillsboro Ballpark, which has 3,534 seats and a family-friendly grass seating area in the outfield, is on schedule to be completed before its June 10 deadline.

The Hops open their season June 14 on the road against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Hillsboro's home debut is June 17 against the Eugene Emeralds.

For Hops owner and President Mike McMurray,Enjoy oil painting reproduction reproductions of famous masterpieces painted by the skilled. seeing his team's new Nike-designed uniforms on display Thursday on the turf field reinforced his belief that the team is following its vision of respecting the past while embracing the future.

"We wanted to have it old school and, with script, a nod toward current day," said McMurray, who has embraced his move to Hillsboro from the team's former home of Yakima. "This is a baseball uniform, not a piece of art. It's important to us to carry on the tradition of minor league baseball, and the uniforms are a big part of that."

McMurray's dream is that those uniforms will be someday worn by a player who grew up going to Hops games as a fan. That's a big reason why the team wanted to unveil their three styles of uniforms with three local high school athletes.

"We want to create a sense of the future for Little League players in the area, so they can say, 'Hey, I could someday play professional baseball in my hometown,'" McMurray said. "It will give them that visual. We are so hopeful that we'll have somebody who played here in youth baseball as a member of the Hops."

That connection with the community has area high school coaches excited about the potential impact the Hops will have on their programs.

Hillsboro varsity baseball coach Matt Bailie, a 1994 Hillsboro graduate, had a minor league baseball career that lasted nearly a decade and enjoyed connecting with youthful fans in the various cities he played in.

"This is going to be huge for this area," Bailie said. "When we start getting these third-, fourth- and fifth-graders out here in an atmosphere that a stadium provides, it will give them that dream to look forward to.

who are part of the Manhattan Art Program

Alex Galarza and his sister Kristen walked around in circles, taking in all the colors and details of the small-scale sculptures on display at the Nave Museum during Victoria's second annual Art Car Parade on Saturday.

Although the art cars weren't large enough to rally with the real art cars during the parade that cruised through downtown Victoria, they took their place among the pieces of art from Carter Ernst's "Fur Bitten" exhibit, the newest installment at the Nave.

Inside the museum, the Galarza siblings, who are part of the Manhattan Art Program at Pine Street Community Center, peered through the clear plexiglass boxes that encased the art car sculptures.

Up until the exhibit opened, the kids in the program worked on their individual and group cars to show at the museum. Michelle Evans, one of the seven teachers at the Pine Street Community Program, said the students used jewels, beads, features and paint to decorate their miniature art cars.

"They worked hard on them," she said. "At first, some of them (the students) were really quiet, and they don't talk. And by the end, they get to talking and telling me about their cars. It's been really good for them."

Alex decorated his art car with a duck he sculpted during the program. He glued it to the top of his ceramic car and added tiny shells, shiny glass beads, feathers and brass bells.

"I like ducks," the 8-year-old Hopkins Academy student said. "I don't like the crust on my bread, so they eat it for me."

His older sister, Kristen, 15, an eighth-grader at Patti Welder, took video and photos of the display case on her tablet to capture images of her art car decorated with her favorite animal: a bunny.

They opened the cupboard that had all our jewellery

A family from the city returned from a vacation in Ooty to find their house burgled and 220 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs. 24.5 lakh stolen.

This is the biggest burglary in Chennai in recent times.

On Sunday morning, 65-year-old Chairman Sami,Promotional keychains keep your company logo on the mind of your custom keychain they go. a wholesale grains and groundnuts merchant,we sell dry cabinet and different kind of laboratory equipment in us. arrived at his house in Tondiarpet around 1.15 a.m. Sami and his family had been away on a holiday since Wednesday.

The two-storey house is on Pandalai Salai near Tondiarpet market. The family resides on the first and second floors, while the ground floor is used as a godown

“We opened the front door and went inside. Only when I went to the second floor did I realise that the house had been burgled. Grains were spilled everywhere and all the clothes had been thrown out of the cupboards,” said Mr. Sami.

According to police, the burglars gained entry through the terrace. They forced open the terrace door to the second floor, and then broke the locks of a few other grill doors to gain access to the living area.

“Before I left for Ooty, I locked all the cupboards and then placed the keys in a box and locked it. I then kept the box in a cupboard and locked that too,” said Mr. Sami.

The burglars however, broke open the cupboard that contained the keys.

“They opened the cupboard that had all our jewellery and looted everything. I had kept over 20 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs. 21 lakh in another cupboard, but thankfully that was not touched,” Mr. Sami added.

Police said they believed someone who knew the house and its residents had committed the crime.

“We usually sleep only after 1 a.m., and I often sleep on the terrace. I get up twice in the night to check all the locks. The crime has to have been committed by someone who knew we were not at home,” said Mr. Sami.

Police sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were pressed into service. However, a police officer said, “The burglars have washed the entire house with water to ensure they left no fingerprints behind.”

“Why should they?” I asked. “After all, 50 per cent of the population are of below average intelligence and, as I am sure you are aware, average intelligence is really not very bright. So 24 per cent of people are in the bottom half of the intellectually sub-standard, which is hardly rocket science quality. So not feeling good about themselves could be construed as an accurate and useful level of self-criticism.”

“It’s from a survey…,” the young lady began, but I had not finished.

“Furthermore,” I continued, your own personalized bobbleheads from your photo. “24 per cent of people like cooking curry and 24 per cent of pet-owners have had to scale down holiday arrangements because of the pet. “The survey also showed that 35 per cent of parents have zero confidence to pass on to their children,” the young lady continued.

“That’s a new one on me,” I replied. “How does one pass confidence on to one’s children? If one does pass it on, is it liable to inheritance tax? If I passed on my entire confidence to the Beachcomber offspring, Junior and Minimus, could I call it a charitable donation, thereby reducing the tax rate from 40 per cent to 36 per cent, leaving 64 per cent confidence to share between them?”

“I can’t really say…,” she began, and as she couldn’t, I continued myself:

“Well I’m told,” the young lady said, “that 11 per cent of women would like expensive jewellery for Valentine’s Day and 11 per cent of women would like a day out shopping. Maybe that would make them feel more confident.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” I admonished her. How can these wretched pasta-eating, curry-spoiling, holiday-wrecking mothers expect anyone to leave the poisoned dog at home and dash out to buy jewellery?”

“I must confess,” she confessed, “that was one question the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group did not include in the survey.”

where exactly Lewthwaite is hiding

A photograph of the brunette as a 16-year-old shows her wearing make-up, a tiara and jewellery but it wasn’t long before her clothes and her entire outlook was to change radically.

Today Lewthwaite is known as the “White Widow”, is habitually clad in the Muslim hijab and is rapidly assuming a reputation as the world’s most infamous female Al Qaeda terrorist.

Her husband was Germaine Lindsay, one of the four suicide bombers responsible for the 7/7 London terrorist atrocities in 2005 that killed 52 people and injured hundreds of others.

At the time Lewthwaite condemned Lindsay’s horrific actions but for the past two years she has been on the run from international police forces and intelligence agencies after being linked to plots to blow up tourist destinations in East Africa as part of Al Qaeda’s global jihad.

She has proved remarkably elusive and remains at large somewhere in East Africa but this week security sources said they now have a clearer picture of the role the 29-year-old has been playing within Al Qaeda.

She has been linked to experienced British-born bomb-maker Habib Ghani, who may be her second husband and who trained with Al Qaeda in Pakistan. Her role has been to channel money raised in the Muslim dominant areas in the UK and elsewhere to terror cells.your own personalized bobbleheads from your photo.

According to a security source, “She seems to have spent two years building up a network that spans the UK, South Africa, Pakistan and Somalia.unique items for ear cap from thousands of independent designers.”

In East Africa, rather than being dubbed the “White Widow” she is known as “Dada Mzungu” – Swahili for white sister – and one website sympathetic to her has detailed how Lewthwaite “gave her life to Allah and now she serves Allah as his female soldier in Somalia”.

The website has also suggested that she has trained an all-female terrorist bomber squad there.

Last year one of Kenya’s public prosecutors Jacob Ondari warned, “Lewthwaite is highly, highly dangerous. She is not just a small cog in this terrorist machine. She has links to the top.”

Two years ago in 2011 she was charged by Kenyan police of plotting to blow up hotels in Mombasa but while her alleged accomplice Jermaine Grant was arrested,we sell dry cabinet and different kind of laboratory equipment in us. Lewthwaite managed to convince police she was an innocent British tourist.Compare Apple iPhone headset Bluetooth prices, By the time they realised their mistake she had fled.

Meanwhile in Grant’s rented apartment police had found chemicals identical to those that Lewthwaite’s husband Lindsay had used in the 2005 Piccadilly line bombing.

Grant himself has said he was working under the direction of Lewthwaite.Promotional keychains keep your company logo on the mind of your custom keychain they go. She has additionally been named as the suspected mastermind behind a failed attempt to break Grant out of jail before a court appearance he was due to make this week.

As a result Grant’s trial is being moved to a “safe” court inside the grounds of a high security jail.

But as well as the question of where exactly Lewthwaite is hiding there is also the issue of how a British woman from Buckinghamshire ended up as a suspected Al Qaeda terrorist in the first place.

The youngest of three children Lewthwaite was born in 1983, the daughter of a British soldier serving in Northern Ireland. Her mother, Christine, was a housewife and Lewthwaite grew up in Aylesbury, after her father left the Army and returned to England.

Her parents separated when she was 11 and friends have suggested that Lewthwaite was badly affected by the break-up, seeking solace from Muslim neighbours who she apparently believed had a stronger family network.

When she was 15 and studying for an A-level in religious studies she decided to convert to Islam.

By the time she was 17 she was wearing either the Muslim scarf the hijab or the jilbab, which covers everything but the hands and face

The Hawks suffered an early injury blow

Star recruit Kayne Pettifer overshadowed Brendan Fevola to be the most dominant forward on the ground for the Pigeons.

Pettifer produced an amazing display of efficiency in front of goal to finish with 7.1 after struggling earlier in the season with his conversion.

Fevola and Brad O’Connor booted four each with the latter’s contribution coming in an electrifying opening term when he had three different Hawks’ opponents.

The Hawks matched the Pigeons’ intensity early but the home team slipped away late in the opening quarter to open a 25-point lead at the first change.

Yarrawonga slammed on the first three goals of the second term to lead by a game-high 42 points and threatened to blow the contest apart.

But the Hawks had succeeded in subduing at least one of the Pigeons forwards, O’Connor, by moving Sean O’Keeffe on to him.

The Hawks suffered an early injury blow when veteran Ross Hill sustained a bad cork in the first quarter and took no further part in the game.

Yarrawonga had a long list of stars up the ground with none better than co-coach Drew Barnes who repeatedly held up attacking moves by the Hawks across half-back and made some fierce tackling.

Craig Ednie, Matt Dwyer, Matt Gorman and Xavier Leslie were also effective at ground level.history in being one of the oldest and most well-known manufacturers of paper folding machine.

The Hawks rolled the dice at half-time and sent Norman and regular defender Hayden Lowe forward.

The move had an instant dividend with Lowe clutching a juggling one-handed mark and converting from 30 metres out.unique items for ear cap from thousands of independent designers.we sell dry cabinet and different kind of laboratory equipment in us.

Youngster Mitch Booth also provided a spark for the Hawks who were able to match the Pigeons on the scoreboard in the second half.

The match between the two old rivals was played with an air of tension and the niggle spilled over on a couple of occasions before the biggest flare-up came after the final siren.

Yarrawonga’s grip on the game was loosened in the final quarter with a string of 50-metre penalties gifting the Hawks three last-quarter goals.

Wangaratta Rovers drew within 16 points in the final quarter but suffered a major blow when Norman limped from the field with a groin injury.

Tyson Hartwig performed admirably on his second semi-final nemesis last year, Fevola, who became frazzled with some umpiring decisions that went against him.

Ash Pollard also used his pace to good effect for the Hawks and Lachlan Raven again came under notice.Compare Apple iPhone headset Bluetooth prices,

Yarrawonga co-coach Chris Kennedy conceded the Pigeons had difficulty shaking the Hawks.

Steve McKee dropped out of the selected team and was replaced by Beau Seymour. Senior regular Luke Hammond also resumed from a week off via the reserves and the Pigeons have unearthed a wildcard, Eddy Bayles, who is knocking the door down for a senior call-up.

Geelong premiership player Brad Ottens’ debut is looming in round 9 against Albury.

Wangaratta Rovers coach Mick Caruso praised the never-say-die attitude of his players against the Pigeons.

where it turned the dilapidated building into a community

The spending details have only been revealed through a Freedom of Information Act application, and are otherwise never made public by the department.

UnitingCommunities spokesman Mark Henley said in the context of bill increases, all utility providers, whether private or public, should show restraint when it came to executive perks.

"It is a good thing to celebrate some things in life, history in being one of the oldest and most well-known manufacturers of paper folding machine. but ... all government departments should try to keep these costs minimal because consumers just can't afford to pay for these excesses and that goes for AGL, SA Power Networks and Australia Post," he said. In 2011-12,Compare Apple iPhone headset Bluetooth prices, each executive spent, on average, more than $8000 on their credit card. Executives earn up to $500,unique items for ear cap from thousands of independent designers.000 a year.

"Given the Labor Government's mismanagement of SA Water, the desalination plant and now huge increases to water bills, SA Water executives need to lead by example and show they are keeping their costs to a minimum."

An SA Water spokesman said credit card spending was just $1 in every $100 of the organisation's expenditure. He said a $90 gift of flowers for a staff member who had a baby was "compliant with SA Water expenditure".

SA Water also defended a $600 farewell lunch at Chianti Classico for chairman Philip Pledge, who was paid up to $80,000 a year to attend monthly board meetings.

One of the highest single expenses was a table at a State of the State speech by Premier Jay Weatherill, which cost $1320, despite SA Water being able to ask for a meeting with the Premier at any time.

The afternoon of poetry and music is one of activities

For the visual arts part, on display were the museum’s latest exhibition, titled Grounded, which juxtaposed works of guest contemporary artists Alma Quinto, Goldie Poblador, Josephine Turalba, Toym Imao, Eric Zamuco, Barbara Hlali, Khaled Hafex and Ahmed El Shaer with works from the Lopez Museum collection such as those of Juan Luna, Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, Fernando Amorsolo, Jose Joya, and Nena Saguil.

The event was co-produced by High Chair, a non-profit small press that promotes genuine interest in poetry in the country through print and online publications, lectures and conversations, community workshops, and the development of poetry-teaching modules for use in the classroom and the community. It supports the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth, an after-school program that offers opportunities for children from deprived communities to achieve their full musical potential.

The afternoon of poetry and music is one of activities which set apart the Lopez Museum and Library. An afternoon spent at the museum, located on the ground floor of Ben Press Building on Meralco Avenue corner Exchange Road, Pasig City, is spiritually and intellectually enriching.

Don Eugenio Lopez Sr. founded the museum and library in February 1960 in honor of his parents, Benito Lopez and Presentacion Hofilena. Don Eugenio built the museum to provide scholars and students access to his personal collection of rare Filipiniana books, manuscripts, maps,This paper describes wireless communications study for IC card. archeological artifacts, and fine art.

The museum’s original four-story building, designed by National Artist Juan Nakpil was located in front of the Lopez residence in Pasay. It was open to the public throughout the martial law years — despite the family’s experiencing political deprivation.

After the EDSA Revolution, it was moved to the Benpress building in Pasig to protect its collection from the salty air from Manila Bay and the frequent monsoon floods in Pasay.

Mercedes “Cedie” Lopez-Vargas, executive director of the Lopez Memorial Museum and Library, gladly takes visitors around the museum.

A communication arts graduate from Assumption College in Manila, she is vice-president for logistics of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, chair of the Human Resources Council of the Lopez Group of Companies, and a trustee for the ABS-CBS Foundation and the Asian Eye Institute.

Cedie has made the museum and library accessible to technically savvy researchers and visitors through its contemporary art exhibition, digitized archives as well as through its online presence in various school media platforms like the “Off the Ground” session.

The museum’s goal, says Cedie, is to bring Philippine history arts and letters to a broader audience.”

Cedie takes great pride in the museum’s rare collections. Among these are the 19th century paintings of Filipino masters Juan Luna y Novacio and Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo. Both artists won honors for their country when the paintings they submitted to the 1884 Esposicion National de Bellas Artes in Madrid won awards. Luna’s Spoliarium received one of the three gold medals at the exposition.

The galleries also house selected works by 20th Century National Artist Fernando Amorsolo, who in the early Thirties and Forties popularized the rustic Philippine landscape and the dalagang Filipina model. It has acquired paintings by many of the country’s National Artists, including Botong Francisco, Vicente Manansala, HR Ocampo, Cesar Legaspi, Arturo Luz and J. Elizalde Navarro. Important artists such as Fernando Zobel, Nena Saguil, Macario Vialis, Jose Joya and Romeo Tabuena are also represented in the collection.

Then there’s another treasure — an initial collection of 14th and 15th Century artifacts recovered in the Calatagan burial sites.

According to Cedie, the Calatagan excavations “opened new areas of study on the culture and civilization of the early Filipinos.” The museum’s share in the diggings, which Don Eugenio financed, consists chiefly of porcelain of Chinese origin, Filipino earthenware, beads and a few Annamese and Siamese pieces.

In the Rizaliana sections are 90 priceless letters of Jose Rizal to his mother and sisters.

The library has a collection of 20,000 Filipiniana titles, constantly enriched by new acquisitions. Its rare Philippine imprints date from the early 17th century – the oldest being a unique copy of the Belarmin-Lopez Doctrina in Ilocano (Manila, 1620). Among the other rare books and manuscripts are works by such eminent printers as Tomas Pinpin, Raymundo Magsaya, Nicolas Bruz Bagay, Laureano Atlas and Juan Correa. The earliest book in the library is the third edition (Rome, 1524), of De Moluccis Insulis, by Maximilianus Transylvanus, which has the first printed account of Magellan’s voyage to the Philippines.

The library also has extensive holdings on books of the Spanish and early American period,This is a basic RFID tag used for presence sensing. and photo albums of Philippine flora, fauna, Philippine urban and rural environs, and microfilms of manuscripts.

With its goal of preserving and promoting Philippine arts and letters, the Eugenio Lopez Foundation publishes Filipiniana material intended for scholars and the general public. Its publications include the Philippine Insurrection Against the US, edited by Renato Constantino; Juan Luna: The Filipino as Painter by Santiago A. Pilar, Orchidiana Philippiniana by Helen Valmayor, Philippine Rariora by Mauro Garcia and Fernando Zobel by Rod Perez-Paras.

The move will place all Calvin Klein brands

About 10 Rodney College girls will be parading the finest ball gowns at a pre-ball fashion fundraiser this Monday at the college hall from 6pm to 9pm.

The gowns are provided by Albany's Golden Gown, which is also sponsor of Miss Universe New Zealand. Rodney College hopes to raise around $2000 towards its school ball on July 6.

"I approached the sponsors Golden Gown, thinking to myself ‘well, they can only say no'," organiser Ingrid McCracken of Wellsford says.

"However, they said yes and what a joy it's been to see the young women and young men who are going to be part of this step up and really improve their self-confidence."

Ingrid says the 10 girls were chosen from 26 who volunteered to model the ball gowns. "The girls who said yes were the ones you did not expect to be into these sorts of things," Ingrid says.

"So it's been very exciting to see them bloom. I told one of my teacher friends to have a box of tissues ready for when she sees her daughter all dressed up."

A male student has volunteered to do the girls' hair and make-up. "Thirty years ago when I attended my school ball, no way a guy would say he'd do the girls' hair and make-up; it shows how things have changed since then," Ingrid says.

She taught at Wellsford School for 16 years before training as a colour and style consultant in 2010. It was her young son, who has Down syndrome, who motivated her to go ahead with her fashion parade.

"And I couldn't have been dealing with a lovelier bunch of people. Golden Gown allowed the girls free range to the rows and rows of dresses," Ingrid says.

Two prizes are offered during the evening. Golden Gown owner and chief designer Ankia Van der Berg will draw a ball gown winner, while another girl will win jewellery designed by Miss Universe New Zealand's jewellery designer.

It just shows you how fragile a streak

Jeremy Guthrie’s 18-game unbeaten streak ended with a powerful display from the middle of the Los Angeles Angels’ previously underachieving lineup.

The Kansas City Royals right-hander gave up solo home runs to Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick, Josh Hamilton and Mike Trout in a 6-2 loss Tuesday night. It was Guthrie’s first defeat since Aug. 3 last year, when the Texas Rangers beat him 5-3 at Kansas City.

“The streak was because of 25 guys that played well behind me every time I was on the mound, and they really picked me up. That’s how a streak like that happens,” Guthrie said. “Tonight they tried to battle for me, and I couldn’t get any momentum on our side. It was one of those nights where I didn’t have a good feel and wasn’t able to execute pitches.”

Guthrie (5-1) yielded five runs and 11 hits over seven innings. He held the franchise record for consecutive starts without a loss while winning his previous 10 decisions.

“It just shows you how fragile a streak like that is and how impressive it is,” said Royals designated hitter Billy Butler, who homered and drove in both runs against Jason Vargas.

Butler, who had five hits and five RBIs in a series-opening win Monday, opened the scoring with an RBI double in the fourth. But the Angels responded with two runs in the bottom half, as Pujols launched his sixth homer over the double-decker bullpen in left field leading off the inning and Kendrick hit his sixth of the season with two outs.

Hamilton, who batted .212 with 11 RBIs in his first 38 games with the Angels after signing a five-year, $125 million contract in December, drove Guthrie’s first pitch to him in the sixth far beyond the trees in center field with two outs to increase the lead to 4-2.

Trout ended the barrage in the seventh with his seventh of the season, a towering drive over both bullpens. It was the first time in Guthrie’s 10-year career that he allowed four homers in a game.

Vargas gave up five hits in seven-plus innings and struck out seven.

“He mixes speeds well,This paper describes wireless communications study for IC card. locates, and he just knows how to pitch,” Butler said. “Over the years he’s gotten better and better. He knows what he has, knows his stuff and basically knows how to approach hitters. He’s a lefty and he throws in the upper 80s , so you have to make him come to you and bring the ball up.This is a basic RFID tag used for presence sensing. That’s easier said than done.”

Trout made it 3-1 in the fifth with a sacrifice fly after the Angels put runners at the corners on singles by J.B. Shuck and Erick Aybar, who returned to the lineup after missing four games because of tightness in his right hamstring.

Facilitate a palette of trade show options that promote the development of a diverse, robust, efficient and responsible trade in jewellery, as well as in related jewellery components, equipment and services. With this proposed mission statement on Wednesday, 8th May, the Jewellery Trade Commission, an authority belonging to CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation which held its 2013 Annual Meeting in Tel Aviv, officially established itself in the Israeli capital.

Participants were provided a presentation by the Commission President and Executive Director of Fiera di Vicenza, Corrado Facco , in which he described the mission of the new body that provides a common forum for trade show organisers serving the jewellery sector. This is a basic RFID tag used for presence sensing.

The mission of the commission, Facco said, is to provide a common platform, and develop options by which the trade can be developed, while upholding the ethics of CIBJO, which include Corporate Social Responsibility, disclosure and fair trade.

"In many respect the new Trade Show Commission is a networking body. It provides us with a recognised forum in which we discuss common issues, and, if possible, develop projects that will serve all of its members," Mr. Facco said. "It also will provide our a community with a collective structure in which we can sit down and talk to members of the jewellery industry - where ideas can be raised, grievances aired and troubleshooting initiated."

"As we have been very careful to emphasise, the Trade Show Commission is no way intended to influence the spirit of fair competition that exists between the various trade show organisations. There is absolutely no intention to create a monolithic organisation that will dictate policy" he stated.

Fiera di Vicenza's commitment has been confirmed by its newly-elected President, Paolo Mantovani , for whom intervening in educating and sensibilising the entire international jewellery production industry on topics of transparency and ethicality is absolutely fundamental.

Potential trade show members have been contacted ahead of the congress, including representatives of Fiera di Vicenza, IBGM, Russia's Restec, the Armenian trade show and the Bangkok trade show. In addition, the organisers of the Hong Kong Gems and Jewellery Fairs, HKTDC, said that they would be willing to serve as observers, while Dubai also pledged its support.

Representing 7.4 per cent of total group revenue was Australia, which reported DKK148 million (A$26 million) in sales, an increase of 19 per cent in local currency compared with Q1 2012. Like-for-like (same store) sales for the brand’s concept stores also increased by almost 16 per cent from the previous year.

Pandora Australia president David Allen said that the region’s strong performance – which followed a successful Q4 2012 – was primarily driven by both its Valentine’s Day range and accompanying marketing campaign as well as the launch of a new collection in March.

“Both of these collections were commercially very strong, performed exceptionally well and were positively received by both our partners and our consumers,” Allen explained.

Some thrive in a square planter bed adjacent to the backyard patio

Five years ago, she asked Nick Wilkinson, proprietor of Grow Nursery and fellow Cactus and Succulent Society member,Choose your womens tungsten ring from the Largest Selection and Finest Quality. to revitalize the low brick planter beds that border her entry walk and extend across the front of the house. Now, eye-catching succulents are interspersed with reeds, assorted geraniums and a Protea at the corner, added for its red and green color.

In the backyard, a sheltered nook on the south side of the house enables pots of frost-tender cacti to survive outdoors. They are arrayed on a small table, a bench and the shelves of two wire racks. Mary plans to display one of the specimens at this year’s Cactus and Succulent show. It is Hoodia, a carrion plant that develops a stinky odor to attract pollinating insects.

Nearby, a corrugated plastic roof along her south side fence shelters another collection that Mary describes as “a mishmash.” Some staghorn ferns have survived here since 1981. Their companions include bromeliads and orchids, as well as assorted new cuttings and starter plants.your own personalized bobbleheads from your photo.

Not all of Mary’s succulents are in pots. Some thrive in a square planter bed adjacent to the backyard patio, where an overgrown tree had been removed. The soil there is naturalistically mounded and rocky. Mary covered the remaining exposed roots with mounds of cactus mix to provide root space for new plants, then added rocks as an accent.

Mary’s “old man” cactus collection (Cephalocerieus senilis, named for the long white hairs that disguise its sharp thorns) is displayed on shelves beneath a wooden arbor. The largest specimen, about 3 feet tall, has won prizes at previous Cactus and Succulent shows,We believe in dry cleaning machine with the very best dry-cleaning equipment available. and will be shown again this year.

“This guy will ride in the front seat of my car,” Mary says, adding, “I have to remind myself not to instinctively steady him with my bare hand while turning corners.”

To provide more outdoor display space for her growing collection, Mary recently had a carpenter build a sturdy three-tiered display unit that wraps around the L-shaped wall of the house. It is equally attractive from inside the house, viewed from both the living room and from Mary’s bedroom.

There will be increased concession space

The site, manufacturer and supplier of industrial washing machine.cylinder heated long lasting flatwork ironer. titled "Restore Wrigley Field," gives fans a chance to view artist's renderings of the proposed changes to the 99-year-old ballpark. In addition, fans are encouraged to sign a petition to let the team, city and community know they back the project.

The website, which will be linked, outlines the $500 million plan that the Ricketts family has proposed for Wrigley Field and the surrounding area, including the addition of a hotel at Clark and Addison, where a McDonald's is currently located. There are drawings of the plaza proposed for Clark Street next to the ballpark, and the new restaurant at Addison and Sheffield streets.

The restoration will be conducted over five offseasons; updates will be provided on the new website.

Did you miss the initial announcements? The "Frequently Asked Questions" section covers all of the topics, including whether the Cubs will have to play elsewhere -- they will not -- and the economic impact on Chicago and the region. According to the Cubs, the project will create approximately 2,100 jobs, including 1,300 permanent and 800 construction jobs.

What should be encouraging to fans is that the design plan was formed using preservation architects who have worked on Fenway Park, the Rose Bowl, Camden Yards and Lambeau Field. The goal is to return Wrigley Field to its 1930s grandeur but make it much more functional. The Cubs will use recycled materials in the restoration; install energy-efficient water, heating and air-conditioning systems; and make Wrigley as environmentally efficient as possible.

The changes also will make for a better fan experience. When the Ricketts family purchased the Cubs and the ballpark in October 2009, they stressed that one of their goals was to preserve Wrigley Field. The proposed renovation will restore the facade of the ballpark and replace aging concrete and steel, which is needed to keep Wrigley Field operating for years to come.

There will be increased concession space, open concourses and more restrooms under the new plan. Among the additions will be a restaurant behind the marquee on Clark and Addison that will be open 365 days a year. The current suites will be expanded and upgraded.Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services.

Drawings of the changes can be found on the website, which also features illustrations of the proposed 6,000-square-foot video scoreboard projected for left field as well as the 1,000-foot advertising sign projected for right field.

Want to show your support? Sign a petition, adding your name to a list of backers who feel this is a "win for the Chicago economy, the Lakeview community, Cubs fans and the team." A phone number is provided so you can call 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney and tell him why Wrigley Field is special to you and why the restoration is necessary. You also can join the community campaign and receive email updates on the project.

"I always believed, and I still believe, it's in everyone's best interest to do what's right for Wrigley Field," chairman Tom Ricketts said in April. "It's a special place and has a special role in baseball history."

In addition to being the home of the Cubs, Wrigley Field is the third-largest tourist attraction in Illinois and provides a huge economic boost to the city of Chicago.

The restoration plan was to begin with the home clubhouse, but that may change, depending on how long it takes to get approval for the project. The team has submitted its plans to the Chicago City Council and Plan Commission.

Players will benefit from the expansion of the home clubhouse, including single or stacked washer extractor, from 13,Compare Apple iPhone headset Bluetooth prices,000 square feet to 25,000 square feet. The space will run from the left-field foul pole to the home dugout, with two batting tunnels added. Renderings are posted on the website.

Action toward potential standards on computers

Makers of computers and other electronics could be forced to cut how much power those products use as the California Energy Commission looks at mandates for lower consumption.

The agency has taken preliminary steps toward devising new rules that would shrink how much energy 15 different products can consume. Those include computers, monitors, game consoles and set-top boxes as well as several kinds of lighting, faucets, toilets, water meters, commercial clothes dryers, pool pumps and motors.

It's the latest move on power consumption by the Golden State, which previously has required manufacturers nationwide to reconfigure televisions and refrigerators. Last year it completed first-in-the-nation rules for plug-in battery chargers like those that power mobile phones, cameras and power tools.Compare Apple iPhone headset Bluetooth prices,

California's actions typically have wide implications. The Department of Energy began looking at consumption rules for battery chargers not long after the state imposed its mandate.

"Energy efficiency makes sense, cylinder heated long lasting flatwork ironer. saves money and protects California's environment by reducing greenhouse gases," said Adam Gottlieb, including single or stacked washer extractor, California Energy Commission (CEC) spokesman. "If your monitor is able to work with half the amount of electricity and you're still able to type, that's electricity you're not paying for, that's carbon that isn't being emitted in the process."

The agency argues that its earlier rules have succeeded. Energy efficiency standards for TVs imposed by California, it said, will save enough electricity to power more than 1 million households and save ratepayers $912 million annually.

The rules are controversial, however. The Consumer Electronics Association, trade group for about 2,000 companies, said states shouldn't be imposing regulations because it creates a patchwork of rules. The voluntary federal Energy Star program has led to products that conserve energy while giving manufacturers leeway, said Doug Johnson, vice president of technology policy at CEA.

"Oftentimes in California, it's gotten off on the wrong foot," Johnson said. "The Energy Commission, they've had a bias toward creating new regulatory requirements whether or not they're needed, justified or best done at state level."

CEC's actions come as the state pushes toward its sweeping goals for greenhouse gas reductions. The Golden State by 2020 wants to shrink carbon emissions to 1990 levels, and by 2050 aims to cut greenhouse gas pollution 80 percent.

Action toward potential standards on computers and other electronics is part of a larger look at appliance efficiency. CEC earlier this year asked industries that would be affected by new rules, environmental groups and other interested parties to file comments on potential regulations. Those were submitted Friday. The agency later this month will start workshops to take additional feedback.

Any kind of final regulation is still probably a year or more away, Gottlieb said. It's also possible that CEC will shrink the number of products affected from the 15 in four categories that now are under evaluation.

"We're doing our due diligence," Gottlieb said. "We want to get the best data available. That is why we are casting our net wide.Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services."

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in its comments to CEC said new restrictions on electronics would have a broad effect.

"Personal computers (desktops and notebooks) represent the second largest electronic energy end-use in the U.S., after televisions, and on par with data centers," NRDC said. There are about 40 million installed computers in California, NRDC said, and those consume 2.5 percent of the state's electricity end-use.

"The energy consumed by these computers is equivalent to the electricity use of all the households in the city of Los Angeles, and costs Californians $1 billion in annual electricity bills," NRDC added.

Desktop computers, manufacturer and supplier of industrial washing machine. in particular, it said, present "the largest opportunity" for energy savings.

"They have access to unlimited power from the wall outlet and therefore have little incentive to conserve energy," NRDC said. "As a result, they have not seen the same level of effort and innovation to increase their energy efficiency as notebooks. Traditional desktops consume four to five times as much energy as equivalent notebooks."

Breathe in energy and positivity. Breathe out distractions and bad feelings. Envision a calm place and let yourself go there.

Who are you kidding? You're probably racing to or from work along with hundreds of other people and the anxiety level you feel is indescribably high. You may want to try to meditate or center yourself in stressful situations like these,Museum Quality handmade oil painting reproduction of famous artists.including single or stacked washer extractor, but never actually remember to do it.

This week, I tested two sensors that might help: the $99 HeartMath Inner Balance Sensor for iOS and $119 Tinke by Zensorium. Each device plugs into Apple's iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, and digitally monitors heart rate and breathing patterns, offering on-screen coaching to get you into a calmer zone.

While a traditional heart monitor often just spits out a number, both the HeartMath Inner Balance and Tinke provide feedback as you use them. People who meditate regularly but don't know whether or not their heart and breathing are reacting to their meditations will get some specific answers with these devices and apps. Both of these free apps offer ways to save results and share them via email or social networks. Using them taught me how to lower my heart rate and steady my breathing.

The HeartMath sensor is the company's first mobile device after years of working only on computers. One end clips to an earlobe, resembling a Bluetooth headset from afar, and uses an infrared sensor to see blood flowing through the skin and measure heart-rate variability. The other end attaches to an iOS device.

The company suggests spending 10 to 15 minutes with this app in the morning to prepare for the day and 10 to 15 minutes at night to get settled before sleeping. It measures what HeartMath calls coherence—an algorithm applied to heart-rate variability, which the company says can reflect emotional states and stress levels.manufacturer and supplier of industrial washing machine.

In stressful situations, I watched the screen register my low coherence level with a red icon, but I gradually learned how to get into the zone of high coherence, which is represented by a green icon.

I tried this for several days in the morning and at night, and found myself looking forward to my time with the app. I also tried it at different times of the day, including after a quick walk at lunch and while riding the subway home.

The first time you use HeartMath, helpful slides walk you through how the product works. You can switch between several views to focus on during a session: a flower pulsing in and out with your breaths; a shade that lifts and lowers as you breathe; a photo of a waterfall, which you can change to an image you'd like to stare at; or a statistical screen showing heart-rate variance, coherence over time, pulse and a spectrum analysis of heart rhythms. Relevant coaching phrases pop up to encourage you. Some included, "Breathe through the heart area" and "Excellent! You're in high coherence!"

During setup, I was never asked for my gender or age, but a company spokeswoman said it plans to add these personalized levels later this year.Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services. Early next year, the company plans an Android version and a wireless version of the sensor.

The Tinké (pronounced "tink") by Singapore-based Zensorium is a tiny sensor that comes in white, gray, pink or blue. After downloading its app, I was invited to use it as a guest, or by creating a new account. I tried guest mode and later created my own account, where session scores were saved. Even as a guest, I was prompted to enter my age and gender for a more accurate reading.

I plugged the sensor into my iPad, which made its infrared light glow. On-screen instructions told me to place my thumb over the light, and I waited while Tinké measured either my Zen Index or Vita Index. The Zen Index uses heart-rate variability to quantify stress levels in a simplified manner, according to the company. The Vita Index is a cardio-respiratory score that looks at heart rate, blood-oxygen level and respiratory rate.

I started with testing my Zen Index, which I did by breathing in time with one of five circle patterns that appeared on the screen, each pulsing at different paces. In just a few minutes, my score out of 99 points was displayed: "Calm,Choose the right USB flash drives wholesale in an array of colors, 57/99 points. Doing well. Keep calm and carry on practicing your breathing to improve." When I tested my Vita Index, my score said: "Fresh, 84/99 points. Looking good! Your heart rate, respiratory rate and blood oxygen level are within normal ranges. Stay motivated!"

Fun factoids appeared on the screen while I used the Tinké sensor. One said, "Did you know? Your right lung takes in more air than your left." Another said, "Eating fish helps lower your risk of depression."

which comprises most of our communication

All it takes is a day or two of sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aches, or pains and many of us are immediately headed toward our primary care doc’s office. Once we enter the exam room, we spill our symptoms all over the office; “I can’t breathe”, “my throat hurts”, “my head hurts”, “I FEEL AWFUL!”. But, the way you feel is not an emotion.Choose the right USB flash drives wholesale in an array of colors, It’s how your body feels and it feels awful.

So, we undergo an exam. The doctor and the nurse dutifully take our temperature, monitor our pulse and our blood pressure, ask us questions, do tests if necessary and finally give us their opinion about what ails us. Then the “remedy” is offered. Take this, do this and you will “feel better”. And, thankfully, it generally works. Our body’s symptoms improve and we “feel better”.

If only we were so in tune with our thoughts and emotions. While our body carries us through the day, it is our thoughts, emotions and beliefs that drive what we do,Museum Quality handmade oil painting reproduction of famous artists. how we act, what we say, how we interact with others and how we feel. We are an intra-connected person. Our body is not separate from our mind, our emotions or our beliefs. It reflects, in physical form, what we think, feel and believe. Our wellness is mental, emotional and physical. We just pay more attention to the physical. And, for many of us, we only begin to pay attention to our mental and emotional wellness issues when our body begins to reflect the stress and strain of our lives.

Our wellness is also reflected in our relationships. Households and workplaces,Full color plastic card printing and manufacturing services. the two environments in which we spend the majority of our time operate, in part, on the unseen emotional energy in the environment. At home our children, particularly young children are very sensitive to that emotional energy. As parents, we don’t have to say anything.manufacturer and supplier of industrial washing machine. The non-verbal signals we give off, which comprises most of our communication, says it all. Even if we are particularly adept at hiding our angry or hurt feelings there is always an undercurrent of hostility or sadness. And all of the other members in the household or workplace feel it and respond to it, sometimes negatively.

Our stress can look like sleeplessness, irritability, anger at the “drop of a hat”, overeating or not eating, tantrums – at any age, poor school performance, including single or stacked washer extractor, or any one of a host of behavior changes that appear inexplicable. As the adult in the family it can be productive to occasionally stop and examine our lives and ask ourselves a few important questions. “Am I overcommitting myself?” “When was the last time I took time for me?” “Do I even know what self-care is?” “Do I feel like I have to be Supermom or Superdad?” “Have I been so wound up for so long that I feel like a permanent pretzel?” “Can I ever stop worrying about the future long enough to be present now?” “How much of my past do I carry with me every day in my head?”

Some types of stress are a normal part of modern life. We are busy people. But, we become so accustomed to feeling stressed that we just think that the “stress”, is normal regardless of its source or sources. If you are stressed because you overcommit, the answer is to say “no” occasionally. It you spend all of your off hours from work chauffeuring children to and from, then maybe setting some priorities is in order.

As a parent, we may feel obligated to enroll our children in this, that and the other activity so that they can have the experiences and because we think that it is good for them. Realistically, we only have so much time, money and energy. As a family, sitting down and discussing family and individual wants, needs and priorities can help manage both individual and family stress that arises from overcommitting. It lets everyone in the family know that there is a process for decision making and it cuts down on some of the conflict that can occur when everyone is trying to get their own way. It also demonstrates parental values and helps children develop a host of skills, such as consideration of others, negotiation, prioritization and delayed gratification. And it helps create and maintain a household structure and routine.

If you struggle to set limits and boundaries, or you constantly worry about the future or ruminate over the past, then it may be beneficial to talk with a professional. If your physical health is becoming compromised and you know if would be beneficial to make lifestyle changes, but you are having difficulty getting started, talk to a professional. And, if your relationships with your children, spouse, partner or co-workers are challenging or difficult, talk with a professional. Our wellness is more than the appearance we present to the world. It is dependent upon our mental, emotional and physical states of well-being.
