One possible solution is to perform processing on data

Memory chip maker Micron is pushing flash solid state drives (SSDs) as the technology of choice for enterprise storage, yet does not expect magnetic media to go away anytime soon. The firm is also looking to new technologies such as 3D Nand flash in order to meet the density challenges of the future.

Micron, which last week started sampling its first 16nm flash devices, said there is growing demand for SSDs across all storage segments, whether enterprise or consumer, but does not see them replacing hard drives anytime soon.

Glen Hawk, Micron's vice president of Nand Solutions, told V3 that he believes there will always be a place for hard drives in the industry, just like there is still a legitimate need for tape storage.

"I think hard drives are certainly going to be around for a long time for the same reason. For certain storage applications, hard drives are going to remain the lower cost option," he said.

This may sound strange for a manufacturer of flash memory, but the storage industry is currently trying to work out where and how is the best way to use the high-speed memory technology most effectively.Metal Repair Aluminum foil tape Products is also excellent for metal.

"As people start to get really familiar with flash, the usage models are changing very quickly and we're trying to react quickly to figure out how to bring new products to market to deal with that," Hawk said.My way of applying kapton tape to Glass.

This has led to an array of different solutions, with some enterprise vendors using a small amount of costly flash to cache lower-speed hard disks, while others are adopting all-flash arrays as storage Tier 1, or even using flash for a new Tier 0.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,

"They've not necessarily gone in and simply displaced all their hard drives, they've actually created a new tier in that hierarchy of memory, that's where flash has traditionally been inserted, but we believe it will start working closer and closer to the processor, and that's going to require new bus connections," Hawk said.

He pointed to some of the enterprise flash products that already use a direct PCI Express connection to the host system, as the Sata and SAS interfaces inherited from spinning hard drives are too much of a bottleneck.

But as new process technologies enable more and more bits to be packed into a memory chip, even the connections to the memory chip are becoming a problem, according to Hawk.

"One of the problems that we have is that while we're incredibly good at shrinking the memory cell size, one of the limitations we're running into now is that there is an I/O bottleneck within the chip. We're fundamentally limited by having just a few I/O pins to pass all this data through," he said.

One possible solution is to perform processing on data inside the memory chip itself, Hawk said, rather than shuffling it backwards and forwards between memory and processor.

"Why are we wasting energy moving that data out of the chip, just so a microprocessor can go operate on it,Uline stocks a wide selection of Double sided tape Products. so why can't you do some of the processing inside of that memory? I do think that in the next few years, you will start to see some rudimentary levels of processing within the memory," he said.

However, he conceded that this is something that is only likely to develop over the long term, as it would need a radical change in computer architectures.

In the near term, the major "next revolution" for Nand flash will be 3D Nand, whereby the memory cells on a chip are stacked on top of each other vertically instead of spread out in a 2D grid.

Micron is just one company that is investigating this approach, which is needed because the gates that make up each memory chip have now shrunk to the point where they are approaching fundamental physical limits, according to Hawk.

"We're now dealing with a situation where the difference between states is in the order of 10 or 20 electrons, and they are very poorly behaved in small numbers, so we're reaching fundamental limits, but we can keep going for another couple of generations with the current high-k metal gate technology," he explained.

With the ability to expand into the third dimension,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. gates can be made larger while increasing density for a given size of chip.

"So you can increase the reliability, you can increase the performance, and it gives us an excellent path for continued scaling, because 3D Nand sort of resets the clock. It's a big costly transition to do this, but it will happen," Hawk said.

who experienced its effect last year

With temperatures soaring into the mid-30s across Japan, the competition for energy-saving goods is heating up as the general public searches for ways to cool down.

The central government's electricity-conservation campaign got into full swing at the start of July, and with the mercury rising, sales competition for everything from “Cool Biz” clothing, fans and bamboo screens to increase the cooling effects of air conditioners is under way.

At the undergarment section of the Kintetsu department store in Osaka’s new Abeno Harukas high-rise building in Abeno Ward,Although Double sided nonwoven tape Products carriers are generally quite thin, a rich variety of loincloths, called “fundoshi,” are on display.Solutions is batch tested to insure the EMI material Products. They come in polka dots, checks, stripes and other patterns.

With the traditional fundoshi often made of airy linen fabrics and not having an elastic band, many people purchase them for wearing at bedtime.

The store sold about 300 fundoshi in June, more than a 30-fold jump over the same month in 2012, a Kintetsu official said.

“Amid widespread awareness of energy conservation, young people and women are seeking not only cool, but stylish products,” a sales official in charge of the section said.

Takashimaya department store’s Osaka outlet in Chuo Ward added short-sleeved shirts with linen fabric and a style without a top button, which led to twice as many sales of shirts over last year.

Energy-saving goods are flying off store shelves, too.

Tokyu Hand’s Shinsaibashi outlet in Chuo Ward said that heat-shielding window film, which can increase an air conditioner’s effectiveness, is selling well. The demand surged after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, and in May last year, sales more than tripled year on year.

“Those who experienced its effect last year apparently bought one for another room this year,” a sales official said.

The company saw sales of bamboo blinds in June increase by 6 percent and sales of reed screens by 18 percent from a year earlier.

Yodobashi Camera Co.’s Multimedia Umeda store in Kita Ward said it has been enjoying increased sales of electric fans, which can save electricity by finely controlling a room's volume of airflow. Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape Products.

Some department stores are trying to tie energy conservation to attracting customers.

At Daimaru department store’s Umeda outlet in Kita Ward, customers who visit the store's 37 food stores and restaurants during the peak electricity demand period between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. will receive discounted prices.

The strategy worked last year. At a deli section, sales last year increased by 10 percent over a year earlier, Daimaru officials said.

Sedgwick County Emergency Management recommends

When an unknown gunman opened fire on a vehicle in King City earlier this summer, killing the couple within, Monterey County investigators mapped out the entire Jayne Street scene. My way of applying kapton tape to Glass.

Crime scene technicians took pictures, gathered measurements and compiled potential evidence. It was all par for the course for a homicide investigation.

Then, they did something unconventional, avant-garde, even — they created a 3-D digital scan of the surrounding area.

If it seems like something “CSI”’s Nick Stokes and Capt. Jim Brass might attempt, you’d be right. And that’s exactly what had Victor Lurz so doubtful.

“I was skeptical when I first heard about it,stocks a huge selection of aluminum foil tape.” said Lurz, supervising forensic evidence technician in the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

“The salesman came in and told us [the 3-D device] could digitally scan that hallway down there and I asked, ‘How?’ He said, ‘It just does.’”

Six months later, Lurz, is a Leica scanner convert. He likens the program to Adobe PhotoShop.Online supplies a large range of double sided tape.

“There are about a million applications you can use it for and we still only know this much,” he said, indicating a short distance between his thumb and index finger. “It’s so powerful.”

Lurz is one of two technicians certified to operate the program. Including Lurz, three MCSO investigators have been certified and 15 have been trained in Leica scanner use. The sheriff’s office is the only agency in Monterey County with the technology, Lurz said.

County capital improvement funds paid the bill for the $115,000 program, according to John Guertin, executive director of administration for the sheriff’s office. He said he believed the system was purchased in December.

Leica’s ScanStation C10 began its life as surveying equipment, predominantly used to measure distances down to the millimeter for buildings in progress, Lurz explained.

By bouncing a rapidly moving light in a complete 360-degree circular and 270-degree vertical arc from the scanner to surrounding areas, the Leica system creates a 3-D image similar to how bats use sonar, he said. Technicians can use multiple vantage points “stitched” together through the use of identifying targets to create a wider image, he said.

More than half of the residents of Sedgwick County are vulnerable to being exposed to hazardous chemicals in the event of a train derailment – and chances are few of them realize it.

Sedgwick County Emergency Management recommends that all residences and businesses within a half-mile of a railroad line have evacuation and shelter-in-place plans in the event of a derailment involving flammable or hazardous materials.

Yet despite efforts to get the word out, many residents are likely unaware of their vulnerability. The number of rail cars carrying hazardous materials through Wichita on a daily basis has quadrupled in the past seven years to more than 325 a day.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,

The enormous gap separating Washington

Lawmakers in Oregon can blame their counterparts in Washington for the massive piece of unfinished business that is the Columbia River Crossing. But they'll have only themselves to blame for an equally significant piece of unfinished business related to the Public Employees Retirement System, which barring a late-session miracle will continue to siphon enormous sums from government budgets across the state.

The "grand bargain" that would combine further PERS reforms with tax hikes is technically not dead, but it's close enough to break out the lucky beads and incense. Unfortunately, Democrats and Republicans have leaped ahead to the finger-pointing stage. Both sides have legitimate beefs, but they also have a powerful common purpose: the good of the state.

Democrats are correct in pointing out Republican inconsistency. Not long ago, Senate Republicans refused to support the education budget because it was too small. But this week, they refused to go along with a compromise on PERS and taxes that would have pumped a whole lot more money into public schools. The refusal of Senate Republicans to accept even modest taxes in return for deeper reforms, meanwhile, comes at the end of a session dominated by legitimate Republican demands for deeper PERS reforms. It really makes you wonder what the party wants, doesn't it? Even the state's major business organizations supported the tax hikes as part of a compromise.

Of course, Democrats set up the poison tax-hike pill by insisting much earlier in the session upon "shared sacrifice." Tax hikes are, manufacturers and Double sided PET industry tape Products suppliers Directory. of course, a political payment extracted by the majority party in exchange for deeper cuts to the pension system, which serves a powerful component of their base, public employee unions. Democrats have conveniently ignored the fact that sacrifice, in the forms of Measures 66 and 67, had been imposed upon businesses and upper-income Oregonians already -- and in exchange for nothing.

Democrats should have agreed to meaningful PERS reforms without insisting upon tax hikes, and Republicans should have paid the political price once the two became linked.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape, The additional PERS cuts justify the tax increases.Products from Global Silicon protctive film Products Suppliers.

In the end, however, neither party has done what it should. Unless something changes, the sum total of the session's reforms will be those contained in Senate Bill 822, which cut PERS costs very modestly while simply putting others off.

The effect of this outcome can be seen in the accompanying graphic. It shows how little SB822 will change the PERS rates paid by schools and just how burdensome PERS remains compared with Washington's pension system for teachers. The two systems aren't perfectly comparable. Washington's covers only teachers, for instance, while Oregon's includes classified employees and others. Still, Oregon has a long way to go before the state spends its education dollars as efficiently as Washington.Visit us to find a company offering a flexible Protective film Products.

The enormous gap separating Washington and Oregon represents potential teachers in classrooms, planners in city halls and police officers on streets. As employers reduce the stream of money diverted to retirement, they can use it either to hire people or keep them employed.

The "grand bargain" that collapsed this week can be resuscitated given sufficient political will. It's astonishing to think that it might not exist. PERS needs further reforms, schools could use a sustainable boost in funding,All the latest Releasing film Products in small size and in resumable. and the tax increases are reasonable. Legislators should stop the finger-pointing for a day or two and make one last effort to strike a deal.

Including a number for burglary dating back

A BURGLAR who was caught after his fingerprints were found on the urn containing the ashes of his victim’s mother has been jailed for three years.

Paul Hillier opened the container on the mantelpiece of the home as he turned out drawers during the search of the property.

And the 44-year-old, who has a long history of crime, made off with £12,000 worth of jewellery, much of which belonged to the victim’s late mother, and has not been recovered.

Now, as a result of the raid the householder says she is moving as she can’t face living in the property in Wallsworth Road, Park South, any more.

Speaking after the hearing Alexandra Lovell said: “We are moving because of this. I can’t live there any more.

“It was upsetting to see my mother's ashes opened but at least he didn’t spill them.

“A lot of the jewellery was my mother's and there is still stuff we haven’t accounted for. It wasn’t insured because I had been made redundant and had to make some cutbacks so we have lost it all.”

She said she was pleased with the way the judge dealt with the case and the sentence passed.

Colin Meeke, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court Hillier smashed his way in to the house through the back door on Tuesday, February 26.

He searched for valuable items to steal, including opening the urn in the living room to look inside it.

Upstairs he pulled out drawers and pocketed amethyst and diamond rings and bracelets, along with other jewellery worth just short of £12,000.

Ms Lovell, who had been at work,we are committed to providing wireless MileWeb Services Overview. had left the house locked in the morning and was called by her partner in the early evening telling her of the raid.

Mr Meeke said the defendant’s fingerprints were found on the urn containing the ashes as well as on the back door of the house.

The court heard he had 74 previous convictions, including a number for burglary dating back to 1986.

Rob Ross, defending, said his client realised he was facing a lengthy jail term as he fell foul of the three strike rules for house burglars.

In the past he said he had always admitted what he had done but insisted he could remember nothing of the raid, having slipped back into drug and alcohol use.

Jailing him Judge Euan Ambrose said: “A significant quantity of valuable jewellery was stolen. The monetary value of the jewellery was £12,000.

“That jewellery was not covered by insurance so there has been substantial financial loss to the householder.”

who was able to start a business

Now, along with more than 150 California artists,Find great deals on eBay for stainless steel bracelet Bracelet in Fashion Jewelry Bracelets. she will present her clay and glass pieces at the 21st annual Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival on July 13 and 14 at the Palo Alto Art Center. As in years past, the Association of Clay and Glass Artists will host thousands of guests to peruse the various art collections and purchase the ones they enjoy, witness live art demonstrations and even make clay sculptures themselves.

Theofanous said she never expected to be at this festival, but throughout her life, the memory of that glass-blowing video stuck with her.

"I thought, 'You know, I really don't have to do something that I don't enjoy," she recalled. Theofanous said she used this moment to restart her life and "find something more true to (her) passion and (her) art."

Soon enough, she found herself in a class learning to make glass beads and jewelry. She said she never knew what the phrase "my calling" meant until now.

"That was kind of my start," Theofanous said. "I took that first class and I knew. I guess the way to describe it is that I've always gotten straight A's but never felt like anything was a natural thing for me."

Not only did she find her calling in that class, she also found Dean Benson. They soon became romantically and professionally involved, launching a new art-business venture together called Avolie Glass,Our Home power monitor and energy saving devices help reduce energy. based in San Francisco.

At the Palo Alto festival, Benson and Theofanous hope to show off pieces with colors that are derived from nature like the tropical ocean colors painted on their tall, glass, teardrop-shaped "Surf & Sand" series. Their prices will range from $35 to $495.

While the Avolie Glass duo prides themselves on involved color applications, Doris Fischer-Colbrie -- an artist displaying work at the festival for the third time -- said she uses instruments from nature, such as real plants, to make imprints on her pieces.

"(My fascination) with plants and nature, in the beginning, was very, very simplistic," she explained. "It's gotten a lot more interesting in the use of design and the glazes and the imprinting."

Fischer-Colbrie started her work on clay in while completing her PhD in mathematics at UC Berkeley. Similarly to Theofanous, Fischer-Colbrie quit her day job as a teacher at Columbia University and San Diego State University and immersed herself in ceramics 10 years ago.

"When you are working in clay, you can actually get results. You can show people," she said.sometimes refered to as a smartcardfactory. "Sometimes in math, you can't for a while."

Her festival pieces range from $20 to $300. She specializes in functional clay pieces that she said are one-of-a-kind, such as a stainless rod topped with clay animal heads that can be used like a toothpick cake test to check whether or not a baked good is done cooking. She said she is most excited to present large brown platters decorated with dynamic plant patterns.

"I am very much an artist that wants to include art in just the daily life," she said. For example, her "Serial Bowls" are bowls that can be stacked into one decorated unit.

Much like Fisher-Colbrie's attraction to nature, Swanica Ligtenberg -- whose work will be displayed at the festival for the first time -- has always felt a connection to nature and the "meaning of life," especially after she moved to Japan.Hivelocity offers reliable and affordable Windows MileWeb windows dedicated server.

"As an artist I connect my work with culture, history and mother earth," she said. "My stay in Japan provided me with insight into how craftsmanship has evolved into art and has become an essential part of the culture and Japanese spirit."

After returning from her seven-year stay in Japan just a few months ago, she sees how this trip allowed her to fuse her father's attraction to history and her mother's attraction to art. She lived with her husband, who was able to start a business there after falling in love with the country 20 years ago, in Kamakura, ratings of Electricity monitor so you can find the best energy monitor. a city with a rich history in carving and red glaze where Ligtenberg felt right at home. The prices for Ligtenberg's art will range from $20 to $2,000.

She said at the festival, she will present smoke-patterned pottery that were made with a decorative technique called the horsehair raku technique, in which burning hair leaves permanent lines and smoke blush on the pot. Ligtenberg won several awards for this technique in Japan, like the Mashiko Special Judges award -- a highly sought-after prize that honors worldwide known potters.

"I form, transform and decorate my work by playing with the clay and doing research and being influenced by spiritual thoughts and designs: Mother Earth, Circles of Life and Flower of Life, Paths in Life," she said.

Controls will provide a global perspective to the research

Axine Water Technologies, developers of a chemical-free solution for treating toxic organic pollutants in industrial wastewater, have successfully completed six months of performance testing and validation of customer wastewaters using a 10 times scale-up of its proprietary electrolytic oxidation cell.

Working with oil and gas, refining and chemical markets,Find great deals on eBay for stainless steel bracelet Bracelet in Fashion Jewelry Bracelets. Axine verified its technology on real-world wastewaters containing aromatic acids, phenols, BTEX, hydrogen sulfide and ammonia ranging in concentration from 900 to 9,000 mg/L of chemical oxygen demand. Organics were oxidized to CO2, water and nitrogen gas by hydroxyl radicals generated on the surface of Axine’s proprietary catalyst. The company says the scaled-up cell achieved high-efficacy treatment at low-cost and low-energy consumption — without the need for chemicals.

Axine CEO Jonathan Rhone says the testing confirms that his company’s approach to wastewater treatment has the potential to reduce chronic production bottlenecks and the high cost associated with conventional chemical oxidation or biological system approaches. Rhone says the company will continue to work to bring the technology to market.

The boat rose up and slowly settled down to plane

Soon we were amongst jumping Sokwith who took the Purple Haze hootchies so fast that we were winding them up at one-minute intervals. From five to 12 pounds, they came over the side like silver hellions, kicking and slapping until they felt the dull thud of the fish bonker. Soon we had our limits, and settled back for a slow cruise home watching the Greys and sea otters. Our skipper and his son were pleased that we were pleased, and the jokes began to flow in our small society of men. When the lines were all up and the downrigger balls stowed, the skipper gunned the motor saying,Quality Brand Name tungsten ring and Tungsten Wedding Bands for Men. “We’re off like the bride’s gown on her wedding night.Click on their website www.smartcardfactory.com for more information.”

We have collectively travelled our route home for years, sometimes after a hike and a picnic, sometimes after a day of fishing. The boat rose up and slowly settled down to plane over the wave-less water as it picked up speed. All around us were reefs and up-thrust rocks, pretty foreboding to new visitors and tourists, but friends to us who travelled this way over so many summers; earlier by kayak and Zodiac, and now by 20-foot aluminum boat with a 200 horsepower four stroke outboard.

The westerly was slowly picking up, and the rising tide added a few knots to our hull speed as we approached Washer Rock, a favourite local hot spot for Soha, the Chinook salmon of July and August.selection of wholesale fashion shoes such as sandals. Suddenly our skipper noticed that the motor was losing revs, and slowing down. Without verbal direction, his son grabbed a socket wrench from a well-stocked toolbox, and quickly unbuckled the engine cowling. He pulled a spark plug and tapped it firmly on the transom, knocking beads of water onto the deck. He next pulled out the oil dipstick and showed it to his dad. It was all white instead of black. “That’s not good – sea water in the oil. The head gasket must be blown.” These words were delivered in a tone I had never heard before. Not loud, not scared, but firm and factual.

Next the motor stopped and refused to kick back in, despite repeated attempts at starting it. The pronounced tidal current and the rising wind now had us aimed directly at Washer Rock. It loomed dead on, maybe 50 meters away, about a kilometer offshore. I grabbed an oar and asked the skipper if he wanted me to fend off?

“Good idea, Michael,” he said in the same new tone. I bent over the port beam to prepare for the worst. Son Daryl had grabbed the other oar and was now pulling us strongly astern.

In seconds the swell around Washer Rock pulled us right up onto its mussel-shell and seaweed covered head. I pushed hard, but the boat slammed its bow on the rock. Just as this happened, our skipper located a buddy on the radio, and asked for help. It was promised and 10 minutes away. I gave the oar all I had,Hivelocity offers reliable and affordable Windows MileWeb windows dedicated server. and in combination with the paddle strokes at the stern, we slowly backed off Washer Rock. Freed of its tidal surge, the boat bobbed along silently in the growing wind.

“Good work, boys,” said the skipper in his old familiar voice. We all smiled at one another. No one had stressed out because the skipper had set exactly the right verbal tone; his son’s actions were equally correct. Astern now, Washer Rock slowly faded from view as our rescue boat rounded Bajo point.

Wish List Consignment at the Hanover Mall offers vintage clothing that goes back to the turn of the 20th Century.

Beside the Sears Automotive entrance to the mall, Wish List has a separate entrance that doesn’t actually connect to the main building, which seems all the more fitting when one enters the store. The classic clothes and items for sale at the throwback consignment shop don’t match the other clothing stores in the mall. It is distinctly original.

“You can’t find some of the clothing I have anywhere,” said Gretchen Gold, the store’s owner.

Gold has been in the consignment business for 10 years. She said the reason her selection is so expansive is solid connections with several good distributors. Recently, her stock was given a rare honor.

“The Boston Museum of Fine Arts came here and bought some items for an exhibit,Quality Fashion Forward wholesale women shoes sold by the case for your stores and boutiques.” she said.

The exhibit organized for the museum will be called “Hippie Chic.” The museum bought a purple jacket and yellow shirt from Wish List that had distinctly 1960s patterns. The subtitle for the event will be “Paisley, Beads and Fringe: Celebrate Hippie Fashion.”

Although Wish List definitely has a large collection of clothes that would fall into the “Hippie Chic” category, there are also items dating back to the late 1800s. A prominent display in the store holds a wedding gown from 1956.

Gold said Jan Carlson of Wellesley consigned the dress to the store. She had held on to the dress ever since her wedding.

Gold walked around the store and pointed out how racks are separated by decade. Tucked in the corner is a display for vintage lingerie as well.

“Photographers and stylists come in and look at the lingerie,” Gold said. “That look has been around lately [in photo shoots] and the older something is the harder it is to find.”

By that logic, the hardest thing to find in the store is an Edwardian dress that Gold says is likely from the late 1800s.

The store doesn’t only sell vintage clothes, though. There are records which Gold said are good sellers with college kids. There are also some very old cameras.

“I have an antique camera that is over 100 years old,” she said.

Gold said she has always enjoyed the consignment business and is glad she can run a vintage store because she wants to do something a little different within the field.

Group turns waste into wealth and creates jobs

Many may dismiss it as waste, but for Teresia Mwangi and the Nairobi Old and Young Lutheran Group, the remains of maize and bananas are worth a fortune. Our Home power monitor and energy saving devices help reduce energy.

The group has found shelter in Githurai 44, one of the most populous estates in Nairobi. Through their initiative, the community self-help group has created jobs for more than 25 people. Most of them are charged with the responsibility of making ornaments using what many consider to be materials destined for the garbage heap.

Considering the raw materials they use, it is amazing that the group is able to come up with an assortment of beautiful products that fetch good earnings.

“We mostly use maize and banana peels and a variety of seeds among other raw materials,” says Ms Mwangi, the founder and leader of the group. The members get most of the raw materials from open air markets and farms across the city — for free.Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant.Enjoy the greatest selection ever of stainless steel pendant.Find great deals on eBay for stainless steel bracelet Bracelet in Fashion Jewelry Bracelets. And by using these easily available materials, they are able to design and develop impressive and valuable dolls, ornaments, and other household decorations, with the price of each product ranging between Sh50 and Sh1,200, depending on size and value.

According to Ms Mwangi, every person in the team has his/her own specialisation, with nearly each one of them making a gross profit of about Sh50,000 a month.

Their market is among tourists from high profile hotels like Hilton, Safari Park, and The Norfolk.

Recently the group, through the Ministry of Culture, was invited to exhibit its products in Burundi to broaden its market reach in the East African region.

A casual observer may think that the process is simple, but it is far from being a walk in the park.

“Coming up with a single product can take hours or days. For example,Shop the best selection of men's stainless steel ring. there are some products that have to be carefully carved, painted, and left for a few days to dry before they are ready for the next step,” Ms Mwangi told Money.

The group has offered employment not just to several youths, but also to women, with many of them appreciating the fact that they can now be financially independent, thanks to this investment.

Ms Mary Vihenda, one of the group members and a mother-of-four, says the project has enabled her to meet her family’s daily financial needs.

“But it all depends on the sales because when things go well, I can even make a gross profit of about Sh50,000 a month,” she explains.

Through the business, Ms Vihenda has been able to purchase land and build a house back home in western Kenya.

For Mr Paul Maina, 22, also a member, the story is not any different because he has been able to pay for his driving course and even manages to sent his mother money regularly.

However, it has not been all rosy for the business.

“Despite the fact that most of our raw materials can be obtained easily, we have to buy some of the products we use, thus increasing the cost of production,” she explains.

In order to get raw materials, members sometimes have to travel to far-flung areas, which can be expensive.

“Sometimes we have go to Murang’a, Githunguri, and even Makueni in search of some of the raw materials we need like paint, metals, and glue,” notes Ms Mwangi.

The growing and selling of marijuana

Brendan Kennedy and Michael Blue, private-equity financiers, settled into a downtown Seattle conference room in March to meet with a start-up.this aluminum foil tape is not affected by moisture. Both wore charcoal blazers and polished loafers. Kennedy, 41, is the former chief operating officer of SVB Analytics, an offshoot of Silicon Valley Bank. Blue, 35, learned his trade at the investment-banking firm de Visscher & Co. in Greenwich, Conn. Two years ago they quit comfortable posts to form Privateer Holdings, a firm that operates on the Kohlberg Kravis Roberts model: they buy companies using other people’s money and try to increase their value. What sets them apart is the industry in which they invest. Privateer Holdings is the first private-equity firm to openly risk capital in the world of weed. Or as the Privateer partners prefer to call it, “the cannabis space.”

Megan and Ben Schwarting, a casually dressed couple in their early 30s, made a presentation. Their company, Kush Creams, produces “cannabis topicals,” which are lotions andcreams infused with marijuana’s active ingredients. Kennedy and Blue had invited them in to learn more about the pot-cream market.

“We know nothing about topicals,” Blue said as he reached for a little jar of something called Purple Haze. “Walk us through this like we’re third graders,” Kennedy added.

Megan offered a nervous smile. Their products, she said, contain cannabinoids like THC and CBD. They’re medically active but won’t get you high.

“What do people use it for?” Kennedy asked.we know the value of kapton tape.

“Pain relief, initially,” Megan said. But customers have found them useful for “everything from fibromyalgia to psoriasis.”

She told the financiers about their product line, which included eye creams, toothache drops and a first-aid spray called Owie Wowie.

“How do you extract it?” Kennedy said, referring to the cannabinoid oil that’s mixed into the lotion.

“That’s kind of our company secret,” Ben said. “We work mostly with one strain. Others don’t produce quite the same effect.”

“What led you to start the company?” Kennedy asked.

The couple acknowledged that they started years ago as pot growers. “Then we had daughters and wanted to move into something with less risk,” Megan said.

The Privateer partners are always hunting for a good investment,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape. but it was apparent that they wouldn’t be taking a stake in topicals any time soon. Though state law allows the manufacture and sale of cannabis topicals, Kennedy and Blue worried about whether you could make the stuff without violating federal drug laws. This put topicals off-limits as an investment, at least for now. If there’s one rule that Privateer lives by, it’s “don’t touch the leaf.”

One day a call came in to the SVB office from an entrepreneur who sold inventory software to medical-marijuana dispensaries. He wanted to know how to attract venture capital. Christian Groh, who was head of sales at SVB Analytics, took the call and told Kennedy about it. They were intrigued and amused. Pot software? They knew their own firm wouldn’t touch it. “Nobody wants to be known as the first banker or venture capitalist to make an investment in the cannabis industry,” Kennedy later told me. “The risk to the firm’s reputation is too great.”

Later that week, as he drove on I-280 through Silicon Valley’s green hills, Kennedy happened to tune in a radio show on marijuana legalization. He hadn’t touched pot since he was 19, he says,High quality plastic card printing for business cards, but the notion proposed by one guest seemed to make sense: Marijuana should be regulated like whiskey or wine. Kennedy thought about the software developer. Maybe there was a way to get into the business without being directly involved with pot. The growing and selling of marijuana, as it becomes increasingly legal, will require many ancillary products. “When everyone is looking for gold,” the saying goes, “it’s a good time to be in the pick-and-shovel business.”

When Kennedy pulled off the highway, he called Blue, his old Yale School of Management classmate. “You know how we’ve always talked about starting something together?” he said. “I think I’ve found it. We need to start a venture-capital firm in the cannabis space.”

At the time, Blue, who is from Arkansas, was happily ensconced at a sleepy financial firm in Little Rock, where he and his wife had settled to raise their children near her parents. If you were casting a comedy, Blue would be the bow-tied square who thinks things are getting out of hand when somebody orders a second pitcher of beer. To him, Kennedy’s idea was outrageous. It was insane. And it was interesting.

That night, lying in bed, Blue turned to his wife, Christina. “I’m going to tell you something about a conversation I just had with Brendan,” he said. “No one knows about it yet. But here’s what he’s thinking.” Neither Kennedy nor Blue could shake the notion. Working during their off-hours in Santa Clara and Little Rock, they dug into the existing marijuana research. They read the 1970 Controlled Substances Act, National Institute on Drug Abuse reports, medical studies from all over the world. They made reconnaissance visits to dozens of marijuana dispensaries. They decided that the only way they’d be comfortable even seriously thinking about the idea was if they could determine that marijuana was truly helpful for medical patients.

It was clear that not everyone with a medical-marijuana card was consuming pot for medical reasons. But they also came to the conclusion that many sick people were being helped. “One study after another pointed to its effectiveness for treating symptoms of multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and chemotherapy,” Blue recalled. The research wasn’t completely exculpatory, of course. Some studies suggested that chronic pot use could lead to long-term cognitive deficits, especially among people who start in their teens. Still, they found enough evidence to persuade themselves and, they hoped, potential investors.

Which brings us to her jewellery lines

Athena Theny’s work is a great example of the latter. When she makes one of her gorgeous Eagle Beak purses (which start at $2,500), she doesn’t merely stitch together some leather panels, add a fastener,Shop Stately Steel Circle Drop Chandelier wholesale stainless steel earring, and call it a day.

In fact, by the time the Vancouver designer is at the sewing stage, she’s already put in countless hours of work. That’s because this ambitious artisan starts out by tracking down “ethically sourced rawhides”, and she’s got a pretty strict definition of that term. The skins must come from animals that were wild, hunted for food, you will see high Custom 2.45GHz readers competitive price. and then respectfully taken. Then she manually tans and smokes the hide herself without using any chemicals. And no, we’re not talking about vegetable tanning (which may sound environmentally friendly but actually requires chemicals in the rinsing cycle). What we’re referring to is all-natural softeners, patience, and quite a bit of elbow grease—a traditional art form she’s learned mainly from, and in some ways for, her friends in the First Nations community.

“I love B.C.,” says Theny,Our wholesale stainless steel pendant and dog tag necklaces for men, who recently sat down with the Straight in her funky little Gastown spot (8 East Street)—which she aptly calls ATHENA Atelier. “I love where I come from and I’ve absorbed everything that’s in my surroundings, so for me, it’s about kind of embracing and paying tribute to the people and the cultures that managed to keep this place so pristine for so long.”

After one of her high-end bags is sewn together, there’s still the matter of reinforcing the shape with some backing,Sensormatic branded Custom hard tags and detection systems retail for double. lining the inside with silk fabric, and adding her pièce de résistance: a gorgeous bronze or silver clasp that she makes by casting an eagle beak borrowed from First Nations people.

Which brings us to her jewellery lines. She has two. One is the Talismans, a collection of pendants made from animal castings. Standouts here include the Eagle Talon Talisman pendant on a hand-rolled, hand-sewn silk necklace ($150) as well as the Eagle Beak Talisman pendant on a bronze chain ($475).

Her other jewellery line is the Wish Knots. As the name suggests, these pieces are cast from various forms of tied ropes. In terms of highlights here, there’s the Wish Knot necklace on a silk strand (starting at $100) and the Monkey Fist Wish Knot ring (starting at $140). Her Wish Knot rings (starting at $100 each), are great for stacking. The inspiration for this somewhat nautically themed collection is her grandfather, a retired fisherman and ex merchant marine.

“He’s one of my most favourite human beings in the entire world,” she says. “And he’s just got all these great stories, so I just feel really close to the ocean.”

While Theny has been making jewellery and accessories for more than five years now, she only just moved into her Gastown studio/storefront last November. Suffice it to say, the historical ’hood is a great place for an artist such as Theny, who imbues so much one-of-a-kind style and craftsmanship—not to mention nostalgia—into her work. But don’t be fooled by her tiny storefront. This woman has big plans—most notably, she’d like to play a part in making ethically tanned leather more accessible on the wholesale market.

“I’m hoping to scale it to the point where it can actually shift the industry a bit,” she says,We can supply other Custom RFID ticket for any unique application. before adding, “I mean, that’s my pipe dream, but I believe in dreaming big, so that’s what I’m going for.”

experts talk about how to grow your own

The Children's Cabinet in Reno is stepping up efforts to help runaways and teens who are in crisis. One of their tools is the "Safe Place" program which enlists local businesses and restaurants, who display a sign that tells teens they can come inside and ask for help.

"Safe Place Program is 1-800 number you can call if you're in a crisis, or if you know someone.customized letter logo Soft PVC bottle opener with magnet." That's what Norma Thomas of the Children's Cabinet tells teens along the Truckee River in downtown Reno, as she hands out information and some goodies. The Safe Place Program offers teens in crisis a place to turn to for help.

"The idea is, we like to educate the youth and the older ones. The younger teens can use the shelter, the older ones take the information to youth that we may not reach and let them know there's a safe place to go," said Thomas.

Teens who have run away from home, or are in crisis can look for the "Safe Place" sign at local businesses and restaurants and they know there's someone inside who can call for help. "The Safe Place Program started in northern Nevada at area McDonalds. It has since spread to 11 other organizations, including CAMPO restaurant in downtown Reno.

CAMPO owner and chef, Mark Estee, says he's happy to help local teens. "It made sense for us. We're a neighborhood restaurant and we want to be here for the neighborhood," he said. CAMPO employees went through training put on by the Children's Cabinet. "There's a protocol that happens when someone comes in and says 'Is this a safe place?' We go to the back and pull out a sheet and we follow along with what we're supposed to do," said Estee.Handy Pocket Mirror with hinged lid that doubles as a stand.

Mike Pomi, the executive director at the Children's Cabinet says teen homelessness picks up during the summer, so having several locations helps. The Children's Cabinet recently received a $25,000 grant from the Humana Foundation to continue funding the program. The Children's Cabinet reports that it has helped 35,000 area teens through the Safe Place and street outreach programs.

At this year’s Queensland Garden Expo in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, there’ll be a line-up of gardening and cooking experts ready to share their knowledge about taking ingredients straight from the garden and into the kitchen.

The likes of ABC TV’s Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis, Queensland Presenter Jerry Coleby-Williams and Cameron Matthews, Executive Chef at Spicer’s Clovelly, will speak at the Gardeners and Gourmets Stage at the Expo, just one of eight stages running during the three-day green extravaganza from July 5-7.

Queensland Gardening Expo Event Manager Marion Beazley said she is expecting huge crowds at the stage as there is an increasing trend toward productive gardens.

“There has been resurgence in recent years of home grown and locally sourced vegetables, fruit and other produce,” said Ms Beazley.

“Gardeners want to know not only how to grow and nurture their vegetable patch but also how to turn the fruits of their labour into healthy, delicious meals. We’ve responded to this demand by adding this new dimension to the Expo and we’re confident it will be a crowd pleaser.”

Also on the program at the Gardeners and Gourmets Stage are non-stop lectures and workshops on a range of topics including how to grow and use medicinal herbs, growing edible green walls, when and how to grow vegetables, keeping an organic garden and many more.

“At this year’s Gardeners and Gourmets Stage, our guest speakers will demonstrate how easy it can be to incorporate ingredients straight from the garden into our favourite meals,” said Ms Beazley.

Also expected to be popular this year is native Australian cuisine and bush foods expert, Peter Wolfe who has become very sought after for his flair for combining the delicate of flavours of Australian Bush foods and spices with fresh locally grown produce.

There will also be the ever-popular Giant Kitchen Garden for visitors to explore, featuring an organic food court and a fully planted sustainable garden.

Barbara Wickes, who has co-ordinated the Kitchen Garden at the Expo for eight years, said the display would feature a variety of herbs, vegetables, unusual subtropical edible plants, fruit trees, colourful garden beds for kids and even some chickens!

“Our special outdoor garden will show how to create a productive as well as ornamental area for any sized backyard,” said Mrs Wickes.

“Each year the Kitchen Garden becomes bigger and busier. With the wild weather we have every summer in Australia people are wanting to be more sustainable so when supplies are cut off, they don’t have to go without their favourite produce.”

where exactly Lewthwaite is hiding

A photograph of the brunette as a 16-year-old shows her wearing make-up, a tiara and jewellery but it wasn’t long before her clothes and her entire outlook was to change radically.

Today Lewthwaite is known as the “White Widow”, is habitually clad in the Muslim hijab and is rapidly assuming a reputation as the world’s most infamous female Al Qaeda terrorist.

Her husband was Germaine Lindsay, one of the four suicide bombers responsible for the 7/7 London terrorist atrocities in 2005 that killed 52 people and injured hundreds of others.

At the time Lewthwaite condemned Lindsay’s horrific actions but for the past two years she has been on the run from international police forces and intelligence agencies after being linked to plots to blow up tourist destinations in East Africa as part of Al Qaeda’s global jihad.

She has proved remarkably elusive and remains at large somewhere in East Africa but this week security sources said they now have a clearer picture of the role the 29-year-old has been playing within Al Qaeda.

She has been linked to experienced British-born bomb-maker Habib Ghani, who may be her second husband and who trained with Al Qaeda in Pakistan. Her role has been to channel money raised in the Muslim dominant areas in the UK and elsewhere to terror cells.your own personalized bobbleheads from your photo.

According to a security source, “She seems to have spent two years building up a network that spans the UK, South Africa, Pakistan and Somalia.unique items for ear cap from thousands of independent designers.”

In East Africa, rather than being dubbed the “White Widow” she is known as “Dada Mzungu” – Swahili for white sister – and one website sympathetic to her has detailed how Lewthwaite “gave her life to Allah and now she serves Allah as his female soldier in Somalia”.

The website has also suggested that she has trained an all-female terrorist bomber squad there.

Last year one of Kenya’s public prosecutors Jacob Ondari warned, “Lewthwaite is highly, highly dangerous. She is not just a small cog in this terrorist machine. She has links to the top.”

Two years ago in 2011 she was charged by Kenyan police of plotting to blow up hotels in Mombasa but while her alleged accomplice Jermaine Grant was arrested,we sell dry cabinet and different kind of laboratory equipment in us. Lewthwaite managed to convince police she was an innocent British tourist.Compare Apple iPhone headset Bluetooth prices, By the time they realised their mistake she had fled.

Meanwhile in Grant’s rented apartment police had found chemicals identical to those that Lewthwaite’s husband Lindsay had used in the 2005 Piccadilly line bombing.

Grant himself has said he was working under the direction of Lewthwaite.Promotional keychains keep your company logo on the mind of your custom keychain they go. She has additionally been named as the suspected mastermind behind a failed attempt to break Grant out of jail before a court appearance he was due to make this week.

As a result Grant’s trial is being moved to a “safe” court inside the grounds of a high security jail.

But as well as the question of where exactly Lewthwaite is hiding there is also the issue of how a British woman from Buckinghamshire ended up as a suspected Al Qaeda terrorist in the first place.

The youngest of three children Lewthwaite was born in 1983, the daughter of a British soldier serving in Northern Ireland. Her mother, Christine, was a housewife and Lewthwaite grew up in Aylesbury, after her father left the Army and returned to England.

Her parents separated when she was 11 and friends have suggested that Lewthwaite was badly affected by the break-up, seeking solace from Muslim neighbours who she apparently believed had a stronger family network.

When she was 15 and studying for an A-level in religious studies she decided to convert to Islam.

By the time she was 17 she was wearing either the Muslim scarf the hijab or the jilbab, which covers everything but the hands and face

when the streets were packed with boys with Super Soakers

Call it a sign of the times. For this year’s Apple Blossom precautions we traded legions of police officers needed to herd our wayward youth, for bomb-sniffing dogs.

This is the underbelly of celebration in the early 21st century. Not so many years ago the city hired dozens of out-of-town officers, off duty from King County or Yakima or elsewhere, to add to 40 or so from its own force. Leaves were cancelled. All hands were called to duty, for thousands and thousands of young people were descending on Wenatchee to enjoy everything we had to offer. It was a regional, collective blowing off of steam, with all the trouble attendant to steam blowing. Mostly, thousands of people wanted to drink too much and drive around slowly.

These days wayward youth don’t find their way to Wenatchee. Driving slowly and taking in the sights on a spring night has lost its allure. Now we worry about some attention-craving copycat nutjob doing what they saw on TV, or much more likely, that something that kind of looks like something a copycat nutjob might leave behind creates a stir, and the necessity of precaution, and interrupts our celebration.

That’s the good and bad of it, said Wenatchee Police Chief Tom Robbins. He has seen many an Apple Blossom, going back to his youth in the Okanogan, to his long stint as a state trooper working the Blossom beat, and now as Wenatchee’s chief. Once in the thick of it,The best place to comparison shop for stainless steel bracelet. dealing with whatever mayhem was brought by the latest youthful craze, he’ll now begin his Apple Blossom cooking burgers for his officers in the PD parking lot. He is calm.

The cruisers are long gone, said Robbins. Wenatchee tried to outlaw cruising, in the days when the town was gridlocked by revelers in ragtops and muscle cars. They haven’t bothered to enforce that law in years, Robbins said. It’s legal to cruise in Wenatchee again, not that it matters.

This year they will have 26 officers on duty on Friday and Saturday. No days off will be cancelled, no one brought in from outside. “We have plenty of people,” Robbins said.Customized bobblehead made from your own photos, He sounded happy about that.

In the post-Boston world the real fear is terrorist wannabes looking for crowds. An actual bomb is very unlikely, Robbins said,The Brilliant Polish of a tungsten ring What is Tungsten? but the possibility must be considered. There also is the chance of an interruption by the sight of the legendery “suspicious package.” If, for instance, you had to interrupt the festival and call in the explosive ordnance experts from the Yakima Firing Range to check out something, it would not go over well.

To deal with these two possibilities the State Patrol will send two bomb-sniffing K-9s, normally used in the ferry system, to check out the parade route.Emergency and emergency light Units lighting for reliability and performance. Then, the State Patrol will send a regular bomb team with all equipment, to handle any suspicious objects quickly and efficiently.

Robbins will not admit to missing the old days, when the streets were packed with boys with Super Soakers looking for girls in T-shirts, Mardi Gras beads by the billions were awarded for various deeds, and you could stand far out on North WenatchA good battery charger is needed for rechargeable batteries adding a solar charger to the mix.ee Avenue on Apple Blossom Saturday and see a solid stream to taillights all the way to downtown. Police could make 800 arrests a weekend. Those were the glory days.

This year, The Ave downtown will be blocked on Friday so machinery and owners fresh from East Wenatchee’s Classy Chassis parade can gather and have fun. They call it Vettes and Rods on The Ave. No doubt there will be more reminiscing than actual cruising, but that’s fine. It’s billed as the first annual event. Maybe a new generation of cruisers will arise.

Saturday, a block of downtown will close for the Tour de Bloom bicycle criterium races, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., with plenty of exciting action and much to cheer. Nostalgia buffs can go to Music Theatre’s production of “Happy Days” at the Riverside Playhouse and say ’ay to The Fonz.

All this adds up to a plenty good Apple Blossom. If you take a notion to drink too much and drive slowly like the old days, chances are good there will still be an alert Wenatchee PD officer on hand to take notice. Meanwhile, if you need the chief, he’s cooking burgers.

The first-floor powder room just inside the front door

Recently,Metal key USB flash drives wholesale made of stainless steel in the classical shape of a metal key. nearly every room in the luxury home was temporarily redecorated top-to-bottom by about 20 Akron-area interior designers. The redesigns are for the Junior League of Akron's Designer ShowHouse.

The Junior League's ShowHouse happens every three years, said league representative Janis Worley. The event raises money for such programs as the league's Kids in the Kitchen, which partners with the Boys and Girls clubs of Akron to promote healthy eating and wellness.

Located near Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the Gaffney estate is a three-story Tudor Revival built in 1933, with later additions. It has six bedrooms, five full and two half baths, five fireplaces and a three-car garage.

"It has to be a home of a substantial size to have a tour that's worthwhile, and someplace where there is lots of parking,Customized bobblehead made from your own photos,A good battery charger is needed for rechargeable batteries adding a solar charger to the mix." Worley said. "We also look for homes with two stairwells to manage the traffic flow."

Let's begin with the grand foyer, and the wide and sun-drenched staircase that leads to the second-floor landing/sitting area. White-on-white tones sweep throughout, serving as a backdrop to hand-painted archways, nearly 40 Impressionist-inspired oil paintings, hand-painted furniture distressed for an antique appeal, a massive blond wood armoire, and unique accessories. This area is the work of Bruce Stebner, a visual artist and painter who owns Patois in Akron.

"I wanted it to have a warm feeling," said Stebner, who painted all of the works in the setting. "I wanted it to look like it belongs to someone who has collected things over time.Purchase the Personalized stainless steel ring at an always low price."

The first-floor powder room just inside the front door is rendered in a highly ornate Moroccan theme, right down to the textured hand-sewn toilet lid cover.

"I loosened it up because Moroccan can mean anything from an Indian to an African feeling," says designer Allison Perley of Perley Gates Art & Design in Hudson.

Perley, whose expertise is finishes, applied silver leaf on the ceiling, and the walls are a metallic plum shade. Colorful strung beads are slung horizontally along the sink. One piece of art has an Arabian theme with a mounted camel traveling through the desert. A tall giraffe sits in corner, the radiator is draped with an ornate throw, the drapes are beaded, and so on.

"I like mixing the old with the new," said Perley, referring to the fiber-optic fabric wrapped around urns from India.

The first floor includes the master wing with separate his-and-her baths and dressing rooms; a guest suite with a private stairway; an opulently finished office with a built-in wet bar, and a hardwood spiral staircase that leads to a finished basement. Amy Douglas of The Interior Design Studio in Medina decorated the living room that's spacious enough to have two furniture groupings lit by lots of decorative lamps. The scheme is an understated pale brown with touches of lavender and sage, but the room comes to life with accessories that skew toward bling. One lamp is topped by a large sheer mesh metal shade.

The woman's bathroom suite, designed by Denise Liska and Sal Messina of Kolour Kraft Painting of Ohio in Brecksville, has a clean, modern feeling, save for the bidet in the woman's bathroom. A ledge behind the free-standing tub in that bath is lined with photos in muted silver frames. There are small glitzy chandeliers, and oversize crystal tear drops drape from sconce lighting.

"We took the Hollywood glam route," said Messina.

Everything looks brand new and in perfect condition,This paper describes wireless communications study for IC card Reader. from the bedding to the matching lamp sets. Piled old suitcases as a stand add a clever touch.

With bright colors such as red and orange, and white glass and wood shelving, the breakfast room has a French country feeling. A library has built-in bookshelves designed in bright colors and lots of oversize throw pillows to appeal to a woman.

There's a media room with a wraparound sofa facing a television mounted on the wall, a game table in one corner and movie posters and photos lining the walls. An iPad can control everything in the room, including the window shades, said designer Cynthia Whitford of Cynthia Whitford Interiors in Copley.

“The Vietnam era was fraught with complexities: the age of a horrible war, the age of Aquarius, age of the peace movement. It was also an era of fantastic — what has now become classic — rock music and huge outdoor music festivals,They know how to make your own bobblehead look just like the pictures you send.” said Barbara Weigand, of ArtsWarrior, an arts management company.

With much of the music from that time being a product of the war, the songs were how soldiers stayed connected to home. Bass player Jaimie Koppenhoefer recalled a previous show 1969 played in Elmhurst where a veteran requested “We’ve Gotta Get Out Of This Place” by The Animals.

“That was the song that got them through. People lived through their music then,” Koppenhoefer said.Read Breil Milano Flowing Polished stainless steel earring. “We’ll always get a Vietnam vet come up at shows and tell us how much that music really means to them.”

The Viper Alley concert, set in the 40th anniversary year of the American troops return from Vietnam, aims to evoke the same feelings music gave during that decade.

“We’re going to recreate a little piece of Woodstock as perhaps it should have been done the first time, as a homecoming celebration for those vets,” Weigand said. “We hope the healing force of music will sustain them and bring everyone in the community together to pay tribute to our local Vietnam vets. They deserve this kind of party.”

1969 and Classical Blast will cover musical legends Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Aretha Franklin, Jefferson Airplane, Sly & the Family Stone, Joe Cocker, The Beatles and many other artists from the era.

Playing the classics true to form — with no backing tracks or laptops used on stage as in today’s popular music — is 1969’s highest priority.

“Everyone still remembers and loves that music no matter where we play. We have a lot of fun recreating that time period,” Koppenhoefer said.

Even stage costumes are of the era.

Nicknamed Lovechild, Koppenhoefer wears his vintage 1969 hat and multi-colored love beads he made as a child He said his band mates have no problem getting into character as they are also “natural hippies.”

Only 10 years old in 1969, Koppenhoefer was falling asleep on his mother’s lap under strobe lights at rock concerts. He’d see seven bands in a night at the original Kinetic Playground in Uptown, including the Moody Blues, The Who and The Band.

Moments like those with bands no longer around are what many Vietnam veterans missed out on, and what bands like 1969 enjoy bringing back.

“The show is for all veterans. We’re proud of all of them. But especially the Vietnam vets who weren’t necessarily recognized like they should have been back then,” Koppenhoefer said. “God bless you, welcome home and let’s rock.”

One of the biggest kind of cheating done by stores

If you ever had an inkling that there was a fault with the weighing machine at a jewellery store or any other shop which has such measuring devices, your hunch might not be off the mark.

“The jewellery stores are supposed to have a seal on their electronic weighing machine at the time of its installation. However, that is not being followed. His department has booked over 1,000 cases over the past few months against various establishments such as shopping malls, jewellery stores, fair price shops, theatres and dry fruit shops.

One of the biggest kind of cheating done by stores is selling packaged goods at a cost higher than the maximum retail price.

This malpractice gets a new twist with stores like Bharathi Walmart, Metro, Big Bazaar, etc putting their own MRP stickers, which, though higher than the original amount, is offered to customers at a discount! “We also found that there was no MRP sticker on their goods from the manufacturer. We will enquire about that as well. If found guilty, they too will be booked and fined,” Thakur explained.

The hoodwinking is not limited to big, corporate stores.Bringing tungsten jewelry mainstream. In one instance, we booked a case at the airport where a beer bottle costing `60 was being sold for more than `200,” pointed out Thakur, adding that there are provisions for charging more at such places, but the MRP should be inclusive of it all.

The penalty is quite heavy for offenders. While the fine amount ranges anywhere between `2,000 and 25,000, the cases are booked on the number of offences, hence taking the final number into lakhs. The remaining goods with faulty MRPs are sealed off by the department. “In the most recent incident, where we found set top boxes being sold at higher prices. We seized 1500 boxes worth `42 lakh. On top of it, no MRP was printed on them. We will check with the distributor if the goods actually come from China, as claimed by the distributors. Perhaps they have not printed anything to avoid taxes,” Thakur said.

In such cases of cheating, a second offence will result in a court case. There are 70 such cases pending in courts, and 50 out of them pertain to petrol pumps. “The pumps are allowed to sell 20 ml less per five liters, but many owners set the metres to 20 ml less itself and then reduce the final sale by another 20 ml per five liters,” Thakur explained.

When asked to select the most collected passion

James Lawson, head of industry analyst Ledbury Research, says this was reflected in the number of new luxury store and boutique openings around the world.

The firm’s research shows that Asia-Pacific’s share of the world’s leading luxury brand outlets increased from 39% in 2009 to 44% in 2012,A patient presents with a tungsten ring on their injured finger and is unable to remove the ring. while North America’s fell from 30% to 24%.

Europe’s quota remained relatively stable, but this was “not due to European consumers, but to tourists and their passion for shopping in the luxury capitals of Milan, Paris, and London,” says Mr Lawson.

Australia’s luxury market has also benefitted from the trend, with an increase in spending by tourists from China and other regional hotspots like Indonesia and Malaysia, according to Melinda O’Rourke, managing director of Sydney-based luxury consultancy MO Luxury.

However, Ms O’Rourke says Australians still account for 65% of luxury purchases, and relying too heavily on overseas wallets is a risky strategy.High quality stainless steel necklace chain with durable color.

The collection tests the imagination thanks to its playful

British shoes designers from Rupert Sanderson and Nicholas Kirkwood to Charlotte Olympia have dominated the market in recent years. Now there's a new name to add to the list: Sophia Webster.

At only 27 years old, Webster has already been named Emerging Footwear Designer of the Year by Conde Nast Footwear News, and one of the Top 100 People to Watch on The Times 2013 New Power List. Even though spring-summer 2013 marks her first official collection, it's already being stocked at retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and On Pedder (exclusively for Asia).

The collection tests the imagination thanks to its playful, fashion-forward styles. Inspired by Brazil and artist Yayoi Kusama, the vibrant colours (think neon yellow, pastel blue and hot pink), whimsical motifs and funky materials add to their appeal. Styles range from platforms and kitten heels to flats with beaded embellishments inspired by Chinese tribal headwear. Each makes a statement, whether it's lace-ups with laser-cut flamingos and polka-dot block heels or strappy sandals featuring polka-dot appliques and heels made of stacked beads. The piece de resistance (and Webster's personal favourite) is a sleek ankle strap sandal depicting a Rio sunset, complete with a palm tree.

"My customer is someone who doesn't take herself too seriously, is colourful and likes to have fun with what she wears," Webster says. "She expresses her personality through her shoes."

In person, Webster seems the opposite of the woman she designs for - quiet and understated. She admits to being nervous - her recent visit to Hong Kong marked her first official public appearance since she launched her label.

Indeed, her rise from a young student to one of fashion's most wanted shoe designers was sudden and rapid. She spent her teenage years dancing disco competitively before enrolling at Camberwell College of Arts in London to study art and sculpture. It was during a life drawing and illustration class that she found herself attracted to shoes. Soon after, she entered the famed Cordwainers' Technical College (now the London College of Fashion), where she learned the fundamentals of shoemaking.

"Shoes are the ultimate accessory," she says. "They make you look taller, slimmer and they always fit. They change the way you stand - you rely on them. Our Home power monitor and wireless electricity monitors help reduce energy use in your home. What's not to love?"

Webster went to the Royal College of Art, where she caught the eye of Kirkwood. She struck a deal with the designer to join his studio after graduation for two years before branching out on her own, with his support.

"[Nicholas] gave me a lot of freedom. He is so imaginative and has a strong vision of what he wants a shoe to look like," she says.High quality stainless steel necklace chain with durable color. "But I did have to learn and do things his way,Get your Original make your own bobblehead Head Doll today and be one of the thousands of happy clients we serve. so it's nice now to be completely selfish and do what I want to do."

When she launched Sophia Webster last year she wanted to move away from the chunky styles dominating the scene. A realistic price was also vital, so instead of making her shoes in Italy, she uses a factory in Brazil. The organizations that will be expected to step

If nothing else,High quality stainless steel necklace chain with durable color. the sudden closing last week of the Kitsilano coast guard station was consistent with the decision to shut it down. It was done without notice or consultation with the people who will be affected or the local agencies that will be expected to pick up the slack.

For Vancouver residents already persuaded that the power brokers in Ottawa can't see past the Ontario border, it was another example of misplaced priorities and disregard for local concerns and the realities of life on the West Coast.

The continued insistence by coast guard officials that shutting down a year-round, 24/7 rescue station staffed by professionals and replacing it with a seasonal, student-based operation will not affect safety is patent nonsense.

Conservative MPs who parrot the response serve only to undermine their personal credibility.

The organizations that will be expected to step into the void, especially in the winter months when the nearest coast guard resources will be at best a half an hour away, some specific cause with the help of customized School Spirit silicone bracelet bearing the school logo, have all raised their voices in protest.

They know that half an hour may be 20 minutes more than someone struggling in cold water can survive.

So local politicians, including Mayor Gregor Robertson and Premier Christy Clark, are right to protest vigorously both the decision to close it down and the arrogant manner in which the decision was taken and the base locked up without notice.

The annual savings for the federal government is estimated to be $700,000. That's a pittance to the federal government, but also a relatively small amount for the province or even the city. That raises the question for the local politicians protesting the closing of whether they should fund it if they really feel it's that important.

It's true that lives are at stake. But politicians at all levels make decisions that affect public health and safety, whether it's the installation of traffic lights, funding for police or ensuring the provision of clean water.

There is always something that can be done that will reduce the risk of accidents or enhance the probability that someone, somewhere will live a longer, healthier and happier life.

Governments also are under constant pressure to keep taxes down.

They don't have unlimited budgets so they turn down spending requests every day for potentially useful initiatives.

In this case Ottawa, as part of an across-government cost-cutting program,A patient presents with a tungsten ring on their injured finger and is unable to remove the ring. has decided the increased risk to public safety in Vancouver is less problematic than some other cut they could have made elsewhere.

We don't agree. Neither does the premier or the mayor. But protesting a decision made in Ottawa is the easy part. To take on responsibility for operating the Kitsilano station, another level of government will have to make choices of its own.

Is there some provincial program that can give up $700,000 a year? Some city program? Are city or provincial taxpayers willing to swallow a tax increase to cover the costs?

We don't detect any appetite by taxpayers at any level to pay more. The Athenian ownfigurine is an artefact and one of the relics in Tomb Raider Anniversary.Find all the manufacturers of laser cutting machine and contact them directly on Directindustry. That leaves only the option of the city or the province finding room in existing budgets, either to operate the station or to enhance the Vancouver marine patrol to provide an increased presence on the water.

The city and the province have their own areas of responsibility and are naturally reluctant to take on one that has been covered by the federal government.
